They already sign the code, some of the app stores even require business documents before you're allowed to put anything up.
Having source is a plus but this is commercial software we're talking about, you don't have the source for the 2 things you mentioned, Reader and Flash. Besides that, having the source isn't guaranteed to protect you, companies have been obfuscating the hell out of source code for a while now. All they really need to do is get users to install the binary first, and then it's a waiting game to see if anyone actually reads the source and finds the evil lines, if they ever do. By then, millions of users have installed the app or the updated app (the first version doesn't need to be malicious) and had their info stolen, etc.
That, and the fact they don't have anywhere near a monopoly or even a plurality on the mobile computer market. But that's just a minor thing compared to marketing, of course.
Are there any Cedega games in Steam right now? If not, i see no reason why they would start including them, especially after doing all this work to build a cross platform system like they have.
Where the fuck did MPEG 7 come from? I refuse to accept that I, sitting here in front of my 4 screens with a laser mouse, grazing the internet for Roomba cat videos, have never heard of such a thing.
And next, MPEG is in the anti-piracy business now? What the fuck?
Hmmm only 2 expletives up there, good things come in threes. Fuck.
You can build him a version for his specific device, yea. There's a mechanism for doing that, but i don't know if it has an expiration or not, its intended for beta testing etc.
You have to pay them to get the device itself too, I've just started factoring in the cost of that dev cert to the cost of the device itself and compare on that basis.
Of course, i actually need the dev cert but most users don't and therefor don't actually care, i'm well aware that as someone who wants to write my own code i'm in the extreme minority of users.
The SDK is free, but you have to buy a code signing certificate from Apple ($99) in order for software to be allowed to run and install on the device during development, but yes once you do that you can install whatever you want on your own device.
I should have been more clear, it's how the PLUGIN system in Firefox works, but Mozilla isn't planning to support codec plugins for the video tag either.
They could quite easily make it a plugin system where it would ship with one or two codecs, and users could "install" others if they choose (in fact, they could make it semi-automatic. When it finds a video with a codec it doesn't have, it tries to find it, sort of how it works in Linux)...
That's how Firefox works, and it's how most people install flash when it isn't included in the OS (Apple does this, ironically).
Actually we prefere to be called average American patriots who are sick and tired of being ripped off by the politicians elected to represent us. You want to support all these social causes? Good, empty your own pockets and donate to the cause.
Actually the tea partiers are pushing government to involve itself in social causes too, just different ones like regulating marriage. That's the Palin wing of the movement, the one that loves big government when it pushes religion and tries to turn arbitrary morals into laws.
Most DSL providers will give you a bridging adapter when you subscribe, i'd rather they just give me the equipment i need to terminal an ethernet connection and take it from there.
What do you gain by keeping the ADSL connection itself inside the router?
If you need gigabit routing, soekris is coming out with some new boards that have it, but they're 2x+ as expensive as an Alix. They aren't listed on their main page right now, i believe i heard about it through one of the community forums.
I've got an Alix 2D13 with an Atheros 5416 card in it, works fine with pfSense but the 802.11n rates don't work yet so it's still doing 54g at the moment, stable though. Hopefully once freebsd gets 802.11n rate support it will be a good router for years to come. 802.11n on this card might work in any Linux based system though, such as dd-wrt x86 (but they charge for that...)
That may work but we will have to find a way to get the documents into the cloud first. I propose a small air cannon and projectile capsules (with wings!) that can fit 20-30 documents at a time.
The only problem is that we will not be able to collaborate when the weather is nice outside, and when the cloud IS available our documents may arrive soaking wet. We will have to study this further but i think you're on to something.

Remember buddy, eve is the spy...she knows all about your life size furry porn dolls and hello kitty sex toy collection.
Eve is a fucking spy, arrest her.
I'm not too sure about Alice and Bob either, seems they're always around when these things happen.
Can you imagine if these things still used modems?
Do you know how long it would take me to stop laughing if they had to include both hardware and software flow control?
Weeks. I would be laughing for weeks. I might take a sip of water now and then, but....weeks.
Imagine what would happen if Apple discontinued the MacBook (not Pro) in favor of the iPad XL
The proper name is maxiPad.

There is no "flash lookalike", the only thing they have are javascript frameworks and we already knew about those.

But... but... capitalism?! Capitalism is evil!!
So is Boldism

You can show it for free in public, or charge in a private place, but you cannot charge if you're showing it in public.
Creative commons for boobs?

It's better than Flash, which was neither of those things.
Simpsons did it

Breaking the "DRM" in that case would actually be theft of service.

OK, but i want it cleaned first, your IP address has been to every porn site on the internet.
How do you propose that those people play flash games on the iPhone? Bundle a mouse with each unit?
