Bullshit. Well done voice acting adds a LOT to a game. Terrible voice acting absolutly detracts from a game. Compare the acting in RE1 "master of unlocking" with the voice acting in Chronicals of Riddick.
Fact is visuals and sound are the two senses that video games have to deal with. Ignoreing one is just silly.
"It says ""If no signs of intimidation techniques have emerged yet, launch a pre-emptive strike," and then urges a P.R. offensive which would include getting civil rights leaders to denounce tactics of which there are "NO SIGNS" - that sounds to me like "complain about voter intimidation even though there are "no signs" that it exists."
Oh bullshit. Publically denouncing known tactics that republicans use is a hell of a lot different then claiming they happened.
"The key issue here is this, this is a freedom of speech issue."
Incorrect. Airwaves are not "free speach" zones. They are heavily regulated finite resource. They are leased to business but they are a public resource. One of the requirements from the FCC is that they are administered in the public interest. Sinclair claims that this program is "news".
That claim - that this is a 90 minute news piece done for the public good - doesn't pass the laugh test.
"prestige of repeatably (if only technically) reaching space"
That is the point - to 'technically" do it. Sure the X-prize is won, but like a first in anything this is a starting point not a finish line.
I'm sure more technically minded will discuss practial applications and new limits to be beaten. But I'm glad I was here to "witness" this. I imagine in 100 years when people will talk about this like they talk about kittyhawk now.
Backwards compatibility means exactly ONE thing - You can trade in the old hardware a week or two before launch to get some credit at the local game store. That's it. One the new generation comes out *most* people will play the newer, prettier games. That's what everyone I know does. I mean, if they didn't then why buy the new console?
So is it a big deal? Not really. Sure it helps marketing the box to the parentals (no wasted investment, even if it's not strictly true) but now days with the average gamer age rising into the 20's most gamers are buying their own hardware.
That said, I hope MS does do backward compatibility because the xbox hardware is freakin huge and especially for prephrials.
If it were safe and avalible, why not get it done? How much healthier would we all be if we were given extra lean muscle, improved joints, stronger bones? And I mean normal people, not just those with disease.
Fox argued in court for the RIGHT to LIE in their "news" on 1st amendment grounds. They claim that there's not a law stating that they can't lie to the public.
Brilliant stragety. Worked wonders for the borg.
Until that one lady captain made them emo.
Presumably there will be people logged in as the companies. Does one apply for a job as a second-life avatar?
Or is this like 90's web pages - companies know only they need one so you could make $100/hour as a "e-commerce consultant" playing with notepad.
Now I just need to convince my boss that playing my WoW pally is somehow an important part of the company...
spend an hour rounding up names and posting some code on a webserver *OR* completly re-write all the OSS code.
I have to wonder which companies will choose.
What have you heard about the next Starcraft?
+1 info? -1 Redundant? Meh.
Venom:
Height: 6 ft. 3 in.
Weight: 260 lbs.
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Redish Blond
Topher? Not so much, no.
Spiderman = Peter Parker = timid geeky nerd-type.
Venom = Eddie Brock = Psycho ex journalist, built like a linebacker, competition-level power-lifter.
Venom wasn't just some evil version of spiderman, he was better than spiderman - stronger, faster, able to beat his spidey-sense.
Worst. Casting. Ever.

Did you REALLY just claim some sort of cultural superiority because you watch the Simpsons?
How perfectly cromulent.
"Another reason people should read Userfriendly.org."
That makes one reason.
No.
Office - No. What major corp is going to choose to roll out 5000 minis?
Home - No. People MIGHT buy a similar PC, but not an apple. Not running windows is a major drawback to most users.
It'll be another nitch for apple and the rest of the world will move on, after taking some of the best ideas of course.
Wasn't that linux? Or was it BSD?
Steven king maybe?
I buy that 100%. It's stupid users.
The easiest fix would be to not use these new systems.
Glad we got that worked out.

"Who's to say what information Google is collecting about your PC?"
Google does. They ask if they can send crash data and usage statistics. Big whoop.

Watching can be just as much fun as participating. And sometimes having more people participate can be a BAD thing.
Example:
girl on girl porn
vs
girl on girl on CowboyNeil.
(+5 Funny)? It's true though, there are "free speach zones. Protesters outside the zones are arrested.
Where's the (+5 Sad how far we've fallen).
Really gives me pride in the US.
And to those who say Dem's would do the same thing.. they haven't yet.
1 - Release new P2P program
That should read "release proof of concept that wont work for 90% of users". It's a tech demo. It's not like there's some shortage of p2p apps anyway.
I think the bit that's missing is why SIP-based p2p would be better than other p2p apps. Someone care to explain that?
I would think it doesn't. Not anymore than crowbar makers can be liable for breaking and entering.
Then again we've all seen the US court system make mind-bending leaps of illogic so I guess anything's possible.

Fox LESS vilified than CNN? WTF mate?

No one will be able to say this isn't "News for Nerds".
