OK...seeing as how Linux doesn't have kernel support for ZFS, who were they planning on marketing this to, the Solaris and BSD shops? Seems like a bad idea to sell a NAS device that isn't compatible with the most popular server OS.
Wait...doesn't the filesystem get created by the user of the storage device? I.E., the storage system gets hooked up to your system(s), the OS sees them as raw block devices, then the user generally puts the filesystem on top of the block device.....is this not the way the EtherDrives work?
Maybe I've just had bad luck, but the little pin that is supposed to keep the network cable in place always breaks on me. And when it does, the cable never seems to sit as tightly as it should.
Am I doing something wrong, or does everyone else have similar experiences? If it's the latter, using it as the connector for this new thing sounds like a terrible idea.
Invest in an RJ-45 crimper and some terminals...problem solved.
I can't believe the father quit his job over this.
Uh..not like that's really a job. Realtor's generally make their own hours and work whenever they see fit. Worse comes to worse he just picks up where he left off.
Perhaps because he/she recognizes the idiocy of software patents, and cares more about doing what's right than their own bank account? I know it's a novel concept, but some people do live for more than just money...
Wow, spoken like a true douche.
If it really is something worthwhile, then somebody else will come along and patent it instead (probably a big business). I hate software patents as much as the next guy, but if they must exist, I'd rather see them in the hands of the legitimate inventor (who in this case happens to be a talented individual), and not some patent troll company.
I know I'm going to catch some hell for this, but if you have the money to do it why not look into patenting it if it's really something that's groundbreaking?
If I was able to watch every episode of Trailer Park Boys in Texas (and not the bullshit censored 'BBC America' version), I'm sure you can come up with a way to watch the new Futuramas in Canada;)
And what do they think Gates could do differently if he was still calling the shots? For better or worse most of Microsoft's key markets are saturated.
If Apple sees that this increases Android usage, they'll reverse policy on the Flash block, and users everywhere will praise Steve for his insight and timing.
Perhaps not, but I don't think Google should be faulted for obtaining what is essentially information being made public. Now, if they were doing things like cracking somebody's WPA-protected (or hell, even WEP) wireless signals, then yes, they should be.
Analogy time....say somebody is in their front yard, holding up a big sign that has their "my bank password is xxx". Should someone passing by in the street get shit for looking over and noticing that?
Isn't it a little strange that none of the big console makers (Sony, MS, Nintendo) havn't announced plans for a next generation console? I mean christ..how long have the current-generation consoles been out for now..4 or 5 years?

Look closely...you'll see this in fine print on all slot machines. Legally, if the casino can prove that the machine malfunctioned, they're not required to pay out. Yeah, it sucks, but an intelligent person would already know slot machines are a racket anyways.
What. The. Fuck. Seriously, if you can't keep up with today's technology to stay in business, you have no business being in business. Let the media giants die if they refuse to change. Somebody more capable will come along and take their market share.
Ugh..nevermind..I misread that...me = stupid.

So...whatever happened to Google pulling out of China entirely?
Har har har. Why don't you grab a cushion off your mom's couch and a wrapping paper tube and go play with the other LARPers.

Fry: Of all the parasites I've had over the years, these worms are among the... hell, they are the best.
So...are they taking signal SNR into consideration now, instead of just raw rx power?

This will have no affect on Apple's sales.
But it probably will on it's stock price..

Fuck Pakistan and Muhammad!!!!!
Why not use yEnc (no pun intended)? It's been working for years on usenet.

Because something like this would neeeeeeever have the potential to be abused...

Find new markets to penetrate?

I'd recommend you not become a betting man.

If you're stupid enough to access information you care about and wish to keep private via an insecure link, then you're asking for trouble.

Instead of this, why doesn't Apple just release XCode for Windows? Seems to me that would make far more sense than getting in bed with MS.
