So...is this an alternative to Apple's iPhone SDK, or does it work with it? (in other words, could developers not have to pay the Apple tax to write iPhone apps?)
A company isn't going to sue you over patent infringement unless you have something worthwhile to take (IE, lots of profits). If/when that day comes, you should have by then saved up enough money to hire a decent lawyer to deal with those issues for you.
This is from someone who has to maintain these things, my Clariion is slower and harder to maintain than my Linux storage server. FC vs SATA, both over iSCSI. Ingenuity and innovation for the win.
Inquiring minds want to know...why would yall spend the money on FC drives only to be run over iSCSI? Why not just use SATA drives in your Clariion? I'm sure they would have been cheaper.
But when we priced various off-the-shelf solutions, the cost was 10 times as much (or more) than the raw hard drives.
Um..and what do you plan on running these disks with? HD's don't magically store and retreive data on their own. The HD's are cheap compared to the other parts that create a storage system. That's like saying a Ferrari is a ripoff because you can buy an engine for $3,000.
Honestly, I think in-game advertising does wonders for increasing the realism factor. How many cities have you been to where there were no billboards and the taxi cabs lacked advertisements on them? If done right (IE, no crazy ass popups or anything else that's ridiculously annoying), properly placed in-game advertising increases the realism factor, thus helping to create a more believable environment.
Well, let's see.... At the top of the list is not working because they aren't paid over the summer.
Rubbish. Teaches in Texas (which I'm assuming this is at since they mentioned Bowie High School) get paid year round, even if they don't work over the summer. It's one of the few benefits of being a teacher in the public school system.
specs are better than the iphone and the interface looks nice. how much is it? I think the $299 price point is the most that most people are willing to pay
How are these specs better then the iPhone 3GS? The 3GS contains:
CPU: ARM Cortex-A8 running at 600 MHz (same as N900)
Memory: 256 MB (same as N900)
GPU: PowerVR SGX (same as N900
Max Internal flash: 32 GB (same as N900)
Aside from the hardware keyboard, I'm not seeing how it's better hardware-wise.
There is no 'innocent until proven guilty' in civil courts, it's all about the 'preponderance of evidence' which means that if you can't say more about your innocence than they can about you're guilt, you're guilty.
Additionally, there's no 'guilty' or 'not guilty' in civil cases. A losing defendant in civil litigation only reimburses the plaintiff for losses caused by the defendant's behavior. 'Guilty' or 'not guilty' implies there are criminal charges at stake.

I like to read the negative to moderate reviews because they seem to be more honest about potential problems. What do you guys think/do?
I do that as well. I'd rather hear what people don't like about a product I'm interested in than what I already know I'll like about it.
Rubbish. Maximizing profits is the dream of every publicly-held company, whether the founders like it or not. Go out and ask some Apple shareholders...I have a feeling you'll hear a different story.
Apple sees themselves as selling a luxury brand experience. That means it must NEVER become too popular lest it lose it's cache. The success of the iPod and iPhone are already pushing Apple market share to dangerous levels but they are just 'consumer electronics' and not the Mac itself.
The funny thing is that you actually believe that. Yes, Apple is considered a "luxury brand", but to suggest that Apple would prefer not to sell their products that they spend such a large amount of money marketing and advertising in order to preserve their "cache" is one of the most ridiculous things I've heard. Steve Jobs maybe an arrogant elitist, but he's a businessman first and foremost.
Better to get a head start on the AV game now rather than later. If Apple's dream does in fact come true and the majority of desktop users switch to Macs, I'd expect to see a sruge of malware targeted for the Mac platform. Anyone that thinks Macs (or any other platform) is immune to malware is living one helluva naive pipe dream.
In this day of digital broadcasting, why is Nielsen even relevant anymore? Can't cable companies track who is watching/DVR'ing what nowadays? Maybe not with over-the-air or satellite TV, but wouldn't the cable-only subscribers be a large enough sample to get a good idea of what people like on TV?
This sounds strangely familiar to a Dell Remote Access Controller, where it's basically a computer inside of your computer that interfaces with its various input and output buses and has its own NIC that's always powered on as long as the PSU(s) in the system have power. As long as the system is plugged in and the DRAC has an active network connection, the system can be accessed remotely no matter what state the physical system is in. I've performed many remote OS installs from 5 states away with these nifty little guys. Now if someone or some company could come up with a standard interface for remote access controllers, then we'd really be in business. As it is now these guys are all proprietary (and hella expensive).

Seconded (only because I don't have mod points at the moment)
Why are we putting sound daemons in userspace anyway?
Don't daemons by definition run in userspace?
Heh...word.
Hm...I guess I must have missed House Party 2-6.

I'm looking forward to Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.4!
*ducks*
"Carrier-grade ISP" != "Consumer-grade ISP"
...for now making it easier for me to decide to add you to my ISP blacklist.

...I sense visits from the FTC and BBB in this company's future.
So, cheating and lying to get ahead is news how?
