    prosecuted implies criminal law. This, as well as all other issues dealing with licensing issues, all fall under civil law. Therefore no one is prosecuted, but rather sued by the license holder

    Heh, I'm not using a big grey box either. I'm using the Soekris net4521 embedded system (http://www.soekris.com/net4521.htm) w/Pebble Linux running on a CompactFlash card. This uses very little power as well and has a very small form factor and no fan noise, not to mention I have the freedom to do whatever I want with it since I'm running Linux on it :).

    Probably. And even scarier is this: What if they're sitting on a mountain of evidence that, at present would be considered illegal evidence, but with this exemption, wala....tons of now-legal evidence to "legitimately" screw people over with. A snake in the grass indeed.

    Easy. Setup a Linux-based router and use HTB/iptables to prioritize your upstream. Thats what I do and it works beautifully. I can saturate my upload w/non-interactive programs (P2P, FTP, etc), and my ssh connecitons work fine. http://www.faqs.org/docs/Linux-HOWTO/ADSL-Bandwidt h-Management-HOWTO.html has a really good howto on setting up an example QoS system. It can be easily modified to suit your needs.

    This is no longer an issue of whether or not these people are guilty of copyright infringement or not, it's a matter of the RIAA finally getting what's been coming to them for a long time...the shaft from the legal system that they've been abusing for far too long. I could care less if every once in awhile the court system does something against the RIAA that a few logical people might consider wrong. If you were the weigh the mistakes made by the RIAA vs the courts, you'd find that the former has made far more mistakes. To me, this is just natures way of evening thing out.

    Read between the lines. Microsoft doesn't do anything to benefit humanity unless it benefits themselves more (or has the potential to benefit themselves more). This has been exemplified many times in the past. This is the first step of the 'embrace, extend, extinguish' strategy. I admit that I may be quick to call foul on Microsoft, but given their reputation, can you blame me and others for doing so?
