I actually would like to see "make everything greyscale" button and keyboard shortcut in taskbar/etc.; too often colors screams at the eyes for no good reason.
Another thing: human eyes see more resolution in black and white than they do in colour. DVDs use twice as much data for luma compared to chroma, because it is an effective way to use the bits available.
In the same way, it makes sense to use black & white for most elements on screen, and only use colour where you want to grab the user's attention. An excellent example of this is the "Save/Delete" dialog in Mail.app.
What HAS been an issue is the proximity sensor. Long story short, the phone does a poor job of knowing when it's pressed to your ear, the screen turns on, and you end up either dialing numbers or hanging up. I had an iphone 3g and this was never an issue.
I have this problem with my iPhone 3G. Never had dropped calls, but I always get muted. (Maybe my phone is telling me something!)
You can fix it by pressing the sleep button after the call has started. That will lock the touchscreen, preventing any unwanted actions.
one thing the A4 speculation fails to take into account is that iphone os 4 is also to be used on existing iphone and ipod touch devices, and those clearly do not have a A4 under the hood.
Universal Binaries are already available for Intel/PPC macs.
Something very similar could be used for iPad & iPhone if they had different CPUs architectures.
Interesting comment.
However, to a layperson, the article indicates that the benefits of graphene are not transistor size but switching speed. What is to say that graphene-based microprocessors will not reach 30GHz?
My big question is, who's paying this "legal group"? Is it the record companies who are trying to keep their old business models? Or is it the ISPs who are looking for an excuse to not provide good service?

Yes, we want to make money. We want to make money 10 years from now. The only way to do that is to build great products that people want. I think we've done a pretty good job of that so far, and we're not planning to stop. It's always refreshing to hear this sort of thing. The bottom line in any business is money. If you fail to develop something that people want to use, then it will never, ever make any money.
Adsense is the "killer app" of online advertising. From the users' perspective, there is only one reason why adsense is so great: it's the first advertising solution that doesn't annoy the **** out of them! To include images and videos in adsense would completely nullify this feature.
I will not pay for any "service" above and beyond my normal ISP fee in order to receive content.
But would you pay for the content? If it's easy enough to use, many people would pay for this service.
That said, most of the/. crowd would have enough know-how to get whatever they want for free. There needs to be some extra value for this sort of user -- for example, if all content was available in HD -- and, of course, the price was reasonable -- then this might take off.

Better to point them to something like Just Fucking Google It.
I prefer LMGTFY. Passive aggressive ftw.
Or even worse... 3D chatroulette. I disgust myself, sometimes.
Remember when ATM was something other than a place to get cash or something dirty?
Asynchronous Transfer Mode?

Mod parent up. Airport Extremes are fantastic. And they're not bad value at $230.

Ah, yet another Bennett, eh? Another one for "the list".
