It is certainly true that Islam is not the only source of terrorism, but some religions are much more likely to lead to terrorism than others. While I do agree that is true, I also believe that some religions are more likely to mock and deliberatly offend others on the basis that they thenselves would not be offened by such "silliness". Would all those who have mocked the Muslims (or others, for that matter) please state your faith || lack of here?

Exactly. Their idea is a new bad(probably more expensive) way to do something already possible and easy to do. That's the brilliance. They are practically assured a Microsoft buyout. Well, if there's any cash left over after Yahoo, that is...
I especially like it when sellers state in their auctions that they have increased their shipping cost to reduce their eBay fees. That's how scared sellers are of eBay's toothless policies. I recently (within the last year) had a seller tell me that he does this in private email when asked about the rediculous shipping on an item ($39.99 shipping when the US postal wanted $7, on a $10 item that costs about $25 locally). I felt like being a dick and reporting it to ebay, but then again, since when did ebay _ever_ care about the buyer? I let it drop, and no, I didn't buy from him.
Are you insinuating that all muslim are murderers or terrorists? Believe me, I'd be the first to insinuate that were it true. I've fought in Jenin, I've fought in Gaza, I've fought in Lebanon. Most Muslims worldwide hate me more than anyone for the simple fact that I'm Israeli. And you know what? I still respect their religion. I still respect the individual person. And I'm not convinced that all Muslims are murderers.
I can't believe how sick I'm getting reading this thread. How would half the/.ers here feel if there were pictures of Jesus getting rammed up the ass with a beurwolf cluster of Windows 98 machines on Wikipedia? The simple printing of the prophet Muhommad's picture is as offensive to a Muslim as goatse is to the Pope. Muslims would rather look at 2 Girls, 1 Cup then see the prophet's likeness in print or on the web. And that's their choice to choose. Don't forget that Christians and Jews refuse to say God's name in vain. This is no different. Now the average/.er may be an internet hardened nerd and takes no offense at anything, but certainly you can understand that _some_ people take offence at _some_ things.
Think of it like someone sending you an HTML email. In UTF-16. With a TinyURL link in there. To a Word document. With a VB macro. Yes, it's that bad and worse.
The joy that is 2008 continues. First we'll lose Yahoo, then AOL gets some more nails in their coffin and NOW......eBay is committing corporate suicide! Yeah, and this was supposed to be just another year of the Linux desktop.
Charging $12 for $1 of shipping is perfectly legal, as it is $12 of "shipping and handling". You only paid $1 for the shipping, but $11 for the handling. You should complain about that to ebay and your local lawmaker, not the shipper.
eBay has always been "buyers beware" and recently I've had some bad experiences from sellers. Usually, it's from sellers who are unwilling to send an item that I've snagged at a low cost (no, I don't use sniping software). The last one I let get away, as it's becoming so commonplace. Problems with counterfeit merchandise are also common I've heard, though I don't think that I've been a victim of it (though I once thought I had). But when has a seller been burnt by a buyer? I have to assume that is a lot less common, with the exception of credit card fraud, and that is a) a felony and b) easier to recover.
Then paint it black. I painted my Dell 6400 (which I'm typing on now) dull black so that it won't be noticable. Inside my backpack, the laptop is wrapped in a plastic bag from some department store. But be careful when painting, and tape off the screen even though the cover will be closed when painting. The paint gets in between the top and bottom halves and gets itself on the screen even with the laptop closed! Some thinner applied quickly got the paint off (even though the manual recommends against just that).
That actually sounds like a good argument for using Ubuntu or another linux based OS. One, the replacement OS won't cost him any money, and two, it will certainly contain his preference of language (even if it isn't English). In America, the only way I could type in Hebrew at a friend's place was by installing Ubuntu on a spare PC. The local MS dealer didn't even want to help me find a MUI (multilingual user interface, the MS term for the ability to switch language at next startup). And I could only imagine what it would have cost!
I thought that I had a problem with fake SD cards bought off ebay because they are so expensive locally. After about 10 write cycles they were no longer readable, nor could I format them in Ubuntu or Fedora. I then tried formatting them on a friend's WinXP Home SP2 machine, and they all work perfectly since. It seems that Linux systems are not so good for formating flash media as FAT32, and possible the manufacturers (Sandisk and Kingston) use linux? I'm not sure if the limitation is the FAT32 filesystem or the fact that it is flash.
That's the funny version of exactly what I was thinking. Wireless is not critical so long as there's an ethernet port. The XO has an ethernet port, right?
I always thought that the XO made sense for RMS. Find another machine that is open source from the hardware to the bios to the OS to the applications. The XO is the only true FOSS device that I know about.
Actually, MS Office 2007 is a great improvement. If it would run on Ubuntu (and save in odf format without the stupid non-working plugin) then I would pony up the money for it. Media Player, up to version 10, was a great program as well. All they need to do is refocus and get a decent operating system out the door to save themselves. And no, I haven't used MS software in my house for over two years. But not because I hate them.
Speculation is for Digg. On/. I want news. These "insider idiots" know no more than you or I do. When they've got news I'll listen. Not when they're crying for publicity with speculation.

Godwin!
They gave away too much info. Now we will expect an affordable, reliable game console.
Where have you ever heard that Saadia Bukhari is a murderer? I've googled his name, but I can't find the referrence that you are referring to.

Looking at you /. journal, this seems to be your first post since you're back. What's the blog address?

Where can one find pictures of the straight-wing shuttle designs? I've never heard this argument.

It's not called hump day for nothing, you know.
That's nothing. Microsoft Wins Patent for Scroll Mouse.
I give the authors plenty of credit. But that does not make /. the place for it.

Yes, in the same sense that IE8 will be backwards compatible with IE6.
It does work. I do that to every idiot who sends me a doc or ppt. It's odf or nothing, baby!
