Funny. Some of us in the US believe that a lot of the hostility towards the US is because of our close ties to Israel. While there may be some truth in that, from what I've seen I believe that we eat a lot of shit for Americans because we are close to the homes of those who most oppose America. Iraq couldn't hit America in the Gulf War? No problem, he sent a few tens of scuds to Haifa and Tel Aviv. Iran threatens the same. American flags are burned in Palestine. The Palestinians handed out candies on 9/11.
We do we eat that shit? Until America invaded Afganistan, where was all the American military technology tested? We have American fighter jets, American rifles (much changed from the pot-metal toys of Vietnam era), American tents, shall I go on? The relationship is much more complicated than I could elaborate here (and I don't claim to understand it completely) but you get the point. We depend on one another. America's oceans were enough to buffer her enemies for the first two hundred years of her existence. Now, she needs foreign allays to buffer. That's not a bad thing.
I should mention that the Muslim extremists who are so common in the news actually make up a small (but vocal) minority in my opinion. I've seen mothers cry and slap their children when I've come to arrest them. The parents, mothers especially, do not always know that their child is involved with the planning and execution of terrorism. That could be anything from smuggling weapons or ammunition, to training jihadists, to actually storing ammo in the family house. It may seem ironic that I'm defending the Palestinians, but the truth is that 90% of them (in my opinion) want to get up in the morning, work, pray, eat, and come home to their families. They couldn't care less if the government was run by Jews or Christians or aliens.
Although it's a nice move, I think that the change show only that being open source is "popular" today. There really is no need for the new license, other than getting a few diggs.

Really, it's that bad. It's not only in science, I see bullshit super-accurate results where the data is so foggy that it makes me angry. The computer has a kilometer-to-empty feature. You know how that bad boy works? It's got a float in the gas tank on an arm connected to a potentiometer. Even assuming that the gas level stayed perfectly level, and the arm did not move with the vehicle movement, and the potentiometer was 90% accurate, and the driving conditions were constant and always have been, I doubt that the thing could be accurate to +-10 kilometer. The engineers had real nerve trying to imply accuracy to the kilometer. That, or there's a 2.5 meter scorpion working at Ford.

About 25% (27 out of 100 threads in my current Gmail window) of the threads have no title (they get marked [moderated] by the mailing list software), tons of "UNSUBSCRIBE ME NOW!!!! LOL" titles from posters I've never seen, and some pure nonsense. Here are a few of today's winners:
