If citizens become reliant on it they may become slow to react without the system giving the go ahead. Such assurances can be easily and unintentionally abused when those that were once advocates for common sense become used to automation.
Most sequels are doomed from the start of ever being as glorious as their original. The idea for the original game is already in it's second (or third) iteration and stagnancy begins it's gradual decline.
In contrast most games that have overcome this obstacle usually prosper from a complete overhaul in storyline (FF 1 through whatever) or perspective (the Mario titles).
In the end it comes down to money. Sequels are safe bet from a sales and marketing perspective and the bottom line is the only thing that matters.
I don't see attainment of the OS layer being realistic, at least not on the level of being a viable contender with windows. I personally think that Oracle's stack is complete, they'll have to be happy with Linux, and that saturating the market would be their next goal. With that in mind it seems appliances, much as M$ has done, would be (at least to them) the logical next step. I would tend to agree.
You could have a shirt or pant made of micro-filament optical cord giving you the ability to change the color of your shirt on the fly. Hell shoes are already 'helping' you jump higher it seems pretty straightforward that clothing that can assist you in other ways would be next.
I think that says it all. Pirated music is just a slightly bigger problem than illegal fishing.
My main question is there a fail safe in place?

What do yo mean you need to search for a laptop?

That doesn't even make sense!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
*cries in corner*

But for all the wrong reasons. :-(
Think of the possibilities.
