Another reason might be that, as a webmaster, I need to make sure my previous and current work renders correctly since M$ isn't compatible with the whole standards market and what not.
I believe what the parent it trying to say is that regardless of the trailing number of downloads that IE is receiving compared to FF2 that perhaps, just perhaps, MS has actually planned on releasing IE as an update later than the initial release.
Perhaps waiting for feedback from the initial adopters before they dished it out to the general public en mass.
A popular system at a great price point. Hell I've been unable to preorder one myself and I've been diligent in my efforts. I foresee an early lead between Nintendo and Sony. Only I'm one of the few who predicts their lead will stick.
Forget Gears of War! Has anyone tried Marvel Ultimate Alliance? This game will sell 360s! I'm pretty low on the geek meter but this game makes me shout binary and read Slashdot!...wait
Before everyone gets their flame on remember how many times they got verbally hammered for not testing their software first and shipping later.
Though the bug was caught this late in the game it does appear to be, although minimally, that MS is trying to do the right thing for once. Perhaps losing market share has spurred better business practices.
Do people really have an expectation of privacy while in a public area?
Apparently you've never sat next to someone with a cell phone while using mass transit. The things I've heard would either a) be indicative of a company's proprietary information or b) make Hugh Hefner blush.
So did a great many factory workers when asked if their jobs could ever be automated by 'machines' run by 'computers'. A great many things seemed unlikely in the past and are common place today. Hell a great many things seemed unlikely 50 years ago what will the next 50 bring? Is automated news anchors that far out of the perspective?
Personally I believe that illegal fishing is a far, far greater problem than music downloads, however to stay on topic I was merely 'trying' to point out that the music industry makes downloading music seem like the end of the world when it's simply not.

Is The Company in reference to the CIA or Google? Perhaps Google has minimum fallout? Just a thought.

I knew it! Damn Canadians are just too peaceful to be human!
Wouldn't the most obvious solution be to not use computers?
I do believe this solution has been discussed on Slashdot before.
Or this whole story was a ploy to both build consumer trust and brand awareness through the careful exploitation of a product submitters blunder.
As such they would stand to gain much at the cost of one niche hardware manufacturer's favor.
'mod resistant' != 'mod proof'
There is no 'mod proof'. If modrs wanted to mod then it would happen.
Absolutely true, however:
Forget Gears of War! Has anyone tried Marvel Ultimate Alliance? This game will sell 360s! I'm pretty low on the geek meter but this game makes me shout binary and read Slashdot! ...wait
Again I repeat:
Also it's important to note that MS losing precious holiday frenzied shopping time probably isn't in their best interest.
Are you kidding!?
Look what happened when one breast was shown at the Super-Bowl.
I think the U.S. is slightly behind the times when it comes to these things.

I, for one, welcome our new Canadian Overlords!
It seems to me the EMA and ECA are just two mega mergers.
Sure they provide power for the consumers defense however I can't shake the feeling:
Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
I get the feeling there is going to be quite a few AC posts on this one.

I wonder if the technology develops sufficiently will actual news anchors be worried about their jobs?
To add to this, for this to be usable in a public environment they would have to:
That's Mr. Fattechiedouchebag to you sir!
This is seemingly the best solution to an all too common problem.
Electronic ballots are too risky and easily subdued to allow such important decisions rely on them.
