Certain site like CNN are making thier website "less functional" if you have your pop up blocker on. You can check for your self. Have your blocker on and try to browse the main video. I noticed this today on 3 different computers at three different locations. I read CNN like a junkie.
And you sir a 100% right, I have diagnosed many pc over the years, and always keep my meter and ATX power test handy, you have no idea the number of problems that are caused by irregular power from the grid, and failong power supplies.
CHeck this out wow http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/wireStory?id=2609 065&page=1 news
No wonder i like opensource, we should be able to create a comunity sponsired project in direct oposition ti diebold, s%*t we do a better job than them at least.
shoemilk well thanks for being a freind and for your advice, I will try to control my urge just (not jsut) to say something, for some reason you write different when you grow up knowing three languages (well thats what the doctor said) shoemilk (by the way like the handle) you are an auto freind, Reasons = Constructive, non-confrontational, and you presented your argument in a well thought and rational manner; kudos to you!!

Our Goverment software shoudl all be made in the U.S.A., but i guess these ignorant states looking for the best bang for the buck and some publicity have neglected to include national security in thier decisions. No way can this happen, none of those votes should count. There should be a paper and an electronic form and voters should fill out both, so there is some way of conducting audit on these machines. There should be a law forbiding vital goverment functions; from being exported or outsoucrced to other countries. NOW I have a problem with electronic voting. I will stick to the thing with the lever... LOL Atleast chaves can log in and fudge around a couple voted here in there; jsut some americans with physical accsess.
Well it's not that they care, but really look at the issue, goverment is stuck between a rock and a hard place most of the time, Listen to the people who provide them the power and get them in office; or listen to the private companies that provide them with incentives and contibutions to run thier campaings? hmm though one right? Well there is usually a balance somewhere in there, it's jsut hard to find and most politicians don't get it untill thier out of office. Tke a look at the problem here in the U.S.A. sometimes im ashamed. It's all about priorities and agenda most of the time. A politicians perogative is to make themost changes and stay in office for as long as they can. No matter how it's done and if it's screwing the people that got them into office every now and then, well so be it. Now the real test would be to do what thier voters want and send everyone else out the door, not likely to happen my freind, that would mean the get "unpopular"
Just my 2 cents.... Everyone is entitled to my opinion and thier own. Please forgive me if i spelled anything wrong, I jsut type and let my mind speak... ehh... unlike some people here who seem to be English Professors that revise thier work ten times and change what they want to say so it can impress someone, some people need to try that ever so often jsut speak..
I never said no one was making money at this, take a look at redhat, the sponsor fedora, but also make money at it. There is nothing wrong with that all. Hey even Richard Stallman has made his pretty penny to, So has MR. L.T.

Give em a try you might like it. As for an OSS zealot, I beg to differ, i use proprietary software on a daily basis, because sometimes thats is all there is... When a great project comes along that can replace it... I look and listen.. Instead of pulling a gun out because it's free, or argue that since there is no support it's bad(using opensource software is a double edged sword you get it for free but when there is an issue you have to actually educate you self, instead of havign you hand held). I always said using OSS makes smarter people, there is less hand holding, and you ahve to actually read documentation WOW!!!!. No I have never paid Adobe for photoshop, never needed it, every apllication i need for work is free and oh OSS. You should try to get a weeks worth of work done on opened souce software, it might change your perspective on things a bit.
Eventhought running proprietary software is a matter if choice, for you it's ok, but not for me. Im glad that all the combined hardware and software on your machine might cost you about $8,000 to run(enjoy):) Further more, a lot of proprietary software has benifited from OSS, take a look at the recent IE7, kinda looks and feels like firefox; but not on par yet. Don't think so? Download it give it a whirl, the fireup firefox.... After wards tell me what you think.
Kudos to you my buddy on the other side of the fence; it's always better to keep an open mind.
Wow Firefox has coem a long way, with my first introduction on linux, good for the opensource community. We make better products than any closed source company...... And for free!!! One of these days closed source companies will learn, maybe to late by then.
This is what happens when you outsouce you stuff to developing countries, they have all your details and proprietary information, and you have no real control of who works there. I have seen fake chinese Ipods, my sister bought one. What waas funny is that this thing was exaclt alike. When you outsource you products for the sace of cheap labor... Well you get what you paid for. Unreliable security for your secrets, allowing others to replicate it. Just imagine if The USA outsourced it's money printing to Korea? WOW!!! Oh thats where the presses to print the money is made... No wonder!!
True true, but where are my resposiblitities, it's 7:17 Am my wife (asawa) just woke up and i dont have to go to work till tomorrw. There is no resposibilty other than i like to read slashdot.(last shot of absolut... coming up)
I know slashdot never meant to have the anonymous coward function used this way, but kudos to you. Besides I got 8 beers in me my wife is sleeping, 4 shots of absolute vodka. I got an excuse, do you have an excuse to flame and be an anonymouse coward? well that sums it up, but we can still be freinds, jsut log in and stop concealing your identity. Now getting back to the topic at hand
North Korea will eventually do one of two things (possibly a third but i havent figured that out yet) Join south Korean and it's ways; of join china and it's ways. I leave it to my fellow slashdot community to come up with all the other options. (The US and NATo can also go in there and blow everything up, but it's unlikely)
And trolls and flamers, if you are going to post, please log in, then you might get some respect.

True my freind I have to agree with you somewhat, you do have a point, but really how long can it last before voters start to smell the ceptic tank overflowing? Kudos to you. By the way you should log in so I can add you to my buddy list. Liked your comment, conflicting; but true.
It's like China, but to an extreem, they maintain power by keeping the people the govern unimformed of what the rest of the world is doing, the last thing they want is for the public to learn. Especially learn how the world sees them. All tyranical goverments fall, and all good goverments go though coruption and greed(take a look at us here in the U.S.A. The only goverments that survive are those where the people are in control. Like I say to many people real life, if you didn't vote... Shut up!!
I never saw the point of aol, evven when i got my first online account, yes it was aol and I hated it. I could not use it on my red hat 6.2 back then that angerd me. So i went and switched to earth link wich was linux freindly. Even on my home computer I had an Macintosh LC II, and like today it aol was anoying, all i wanted was a connection, not this fluff and doddas. On the other hand you have to give it up to aol, the smartest thing they ever did was purchase instant messenger, from terroist, lol. (yes it's a somewhat joke, no offense to anyone). AOL please be gone, yahoo better, MSN Better, Google THE BEST!!! No better place out there, I would pay to have more Google, Let me repeat my self if any google staffers read slashdot... I would pay to have more email space, no adds or little adds while searching and my own web page, I would pay!!. Out of the bunch google has gotten it right!!! just what I need no extra fluff here and there. To put it plainly google should trademark and pattent all it's interfaces, simple but highly effective. PeRiod.
I mean really for those who are true users of the net and thier pc and don't jsut go to thier computers to look at some COOL funny vide take a look at all three home pages for your self. Google the simplest looking, but a monster behind that plain steel door fire door.
An analogy yahoo is the bachelor pad with all the trimmings for *^%$$*$#@
MSN is the car that tries to do every thing for you sometimes even drive

there is legal room when you aim is to establish interoperability, the illegal comes when it's jsut meant to curcumvent, ie illegal uses.
