Patents have no point to them. I'm surprised that they're still around, because all they do is help companies create a monopoly over a product. The market suffers and the consumer suffers. There is less competition, which means the company owning the patent doesn't have to make it's product so much better. The only possible upside is that it would give inventors an incentive to invent things. Though why not just give them say 10% of what the product makes for the next 5 years or some other similar system?
Come on. How useful is this thing ever going to be? The idea of making robots more human is ridiculous. Why? Because robots will never be better than humans at being human. And it's not as though there is any shortage of humans, there's over 6 billion of us. Why create inferior copies of ourselves? How about making robots do something USEFUL that humans have a hard time doing? Then I might just applaud their work.
Don't be stupid... nuclear fusion and nuclear bomb are COMPLETELY different technologies. Just because they both have the word "nuclear" in them doesn't mean they're the same thing... an assumption too many people make.
Hopefully, this story will reduce the amount of people randomly bashing Sony (and how their PS3 will "obviously" fail) for no reason. Right now I'm just happy for Sony and the rate of sales they've had.
