Yes. Because "GMO" doesn't tell you anything all. It makes people *think* they are making an informed choice about their health when actually they are choosing randomly and because people have limited time and attention span, adding the label means other, actually important factors, get less attention.
In other words, people are just idiots who don't know what is good for them?
If your car has a recall for a safety belt problem, and you don't get it fixed and get into an accident, is it suddenly the car manufacturer's fault? No.
If my car had a recall every week, I would be feed-up and stop following on them.
Oh, well I guess as long as it works on your laptop, everyone should be happy. Me? I have to jump through hoops just to get to "passable", much less "working".
So as long as it doesn't work on yours, everyone should be sad ?
Brings a new meaning to the words "Nigerian Scammer". Hopefully microsoft got scammed by someone who took the bribe money and made them believe they were going to replace linux by their OS:-)
Sad to say I have to agree with her. With the exception of Slashdots' visitors the majority of the computer users run Windows. That is why the company I write software for only develops browser applications for windows. You do not have to write separate browser applications, just one application that wouldn't be restricted to MS technologies. This way you would ensure that regardless of their numbers linux (and other non-windows) users would have access. No extra cost here.
Re:*sigh* ... still no outline mode in OOo Writer.

For a 200 pages document, nothing comes near LaTeX.
As you can see, the "random people on some forum" were a teeny tiny part of the massive fuckup that was my attempt to "join the Linux community". And I'm a reasonably intelligent computer user!
Are you sure about that?? You are unable to install an OS that has been installed successfully by hundred of thousand (not to say millions) of users.
Maybe not for you, but Ubuntu is a mature desktop force for me. Everything I want work perfectly.
I can watch DVDs since I don't live in a country where it's not against the law to watch DVDs on Linux.
Won't be surprised if a MAJOR investment from Microsoft in India is announced in the coming weeks and coincidentally the indian opposition to OOXML softened...
You can debate, argue, point all one wants. BUT the reality of the matter is that people seem to continue buying Windows, year after year. Some of that may be lock in, but I doubt 100% of that is lock in.
The majority of people don't buy Windows. The majority of people don't even know what an OS is. They buy a computer that comes pre-installed with Windows. In their minds Windows is an integral part of the computer and they know no other alternative.
Thus when everything is done and said, maybe there might be a few million people who actually prefer Windows...
People become used to Windows. When given another OS they expect the same exact setting, to run the same exact applications.
That would be sad because BB10 is by far a superior os to android.
I wouldn't copy Canada. I personally know someone that was killed by the Canadian system.
An how many get killed in the US for not having any insurance?

Do youl file taxes with the IRS? Do you own a passport? The government already has plenty of your data. Healthcare won't change much.
Spoken like a true ACA apologist.
Agreed, and this apologist enjoy very much his CANADIAN Universal Single Payer Health Insurance.

I put eeebuntu on my eeepc. Everything work great. I couldn't bear xandros.
Stories like that make one realize how risky cloud computing is...

Finally, a machine that meets Vista minimum requirements.
One more reason to make sure the conservatives do not form a majority government.
And it appears they will be coming pre-installed with a Microsoft OS soon.. http://eeepc.asus.com/global/news10192007.htm

Here is an interesting story for you.. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/6265976.stm
They even had a Linux version at some point...
