One of the reasons DivX isn't loved by the die-hard net-movie fanatics is that it's not viewable from their home cinema system (DVD-player). A lot of us don't have our computers even near that living room area:) (large flats/houses, we're not in dorms anymore) - among us, VCD and SVCD is still the thing to use.
However, with the X-box and the HomeStation (?) this will change. Here's a device with large storage capabilites and easily upgraded with the right DLL to become a DivX player.
Since we have digital cable, digital satellite _and_ digital normal ground-antenna based television in Sweden, why wouldn't you have the necessary products in Finland?
I'll jump along with UseNet Server then:) I've used them for years and can only say good things... _extremely_ fast response times when mailing support...
ZIP encryption is 3 times 2^32 bits secure. It is not "optional".
There are programs that can hack am encrypted ZIP file in a few minutes, but you need at least 13 (or around that) bytes of _known_ plaintext together with those same bytes inflated/etc with the same method as used inside the.zip file.
Effectively, ZIP encryption is _more_ secure than CSS, as an example.
DeCSS was not created to allow linux machines to play DVDs.. it was created to do what it is doing, and what it started - pirating DVDs through re-encoding to other formats.
Some of us were there you know.
/me - had the first decss.zip mirror link, on request from Jon.
Source for that comment? I'm in Sweden and no, there's no lead in our fuel. We don't drive cars that use up a full gallon for just a few miles either...
What, you mean you actually were surprised that an american was ill-informed about how the world works, and that the US isn't heaven on earth in all aspects?
I wasn't. I've given up on them. I fully expert the US to start the next world war, trying to impose The American Way onto everyone.
(Yes, I'm sacrifying two whole karma-points on this. I hope it will open someone's eyes though.. )
How can GET requests to a publically running webserver be a crime?
Please explain, then think twice whether you've ever http:ed to an IP without asking permission beforehand... umm... come to think of it, I've never asked the Slashdot crew for permission to GET an index file here...
This system already exists on news-servers and clients, and the spammers have already countered with random data appended to the spam (and random numbers in the subject headers)
Spacewar is generally considered to be the first nationally-recognized computer game. Programmed in 1962 by MIT student Steve Russell
What it _does_ say about 1958 is: Willy Higinbotham is often recognized as inventing the first "video" style game. While working at the Brookhaven National Laboratory in 1958, Higinbotham turned an oscilloscope into a playable version of video tennis, which he called "Tennis for Two."
Now if you want more on Pong and Nolan, go see my other post;)
... no more comments about Slashdot editors.

Nice work MS, but will the MPAA like this?
They use the Symbian Platform (Epoc)
(Ericsson R380 and Nokia 9210 already out)
I mean, most of our products are from Nokia

Atari.org
Little Green Desktop (only forums for the moment)
... there are really good emulators available for the old Atari
Troed of Sync and I.C.S
(Yeah I got that one rejected when I submitted it
I have all those available on FTP before they're even listed, and that's nothing special - a lot of people have that kind of access.
So, while Joe Public can't get them - the parent is correct in that many people with broadband have these kind of sources already.
Download and watch on your Home Cinema system, why all this talk about PCs?
Oh, and it runs Linux

Run Win2K
It's stable, and it runs games. It's the perfect home-OS without the Microsoft-assimilation that takes place in XP.
Yes I am serious :) Together with your options, we've covered all aspects now.
Damn I love this phone.

I've got very good hearing, and that signal has prevented me from listening to my original bought CD after the first time.
The other tracks are fine though (but lousy songs)
Yep, recognize that. Still do RedBull-vodka when out dancing though. Maybe stupid - I'm a Swede, it seems we're the only ones affected :)
