You seem to think that your own hatred of the left is somehow excusble because it is retalitory in nature. Guess, what? In conflicts of this sort, both sides often think they are acting defensively or in other morally justifiable ways. Further insults and alienation of "the-other-side" done defensively elicits a like response. Tit-for-tat. Escalation. Wash, rinse, repeast, fight a war, Die. You are part of positive feedback loop.
Others in this thread responded to that original comment in an effective way: show him he's wrong, that's enough. You're the only one (at this time) to escalate the issue by replying to one moderately inane and poltically skewed post with an inciteful generalization of the "left". See more civilized, politically opaque responses:
Perhaps you've missed them, but they're there: "liberal" as an insult, attempts to equate dems and other libs as thieves, scounderls, etc, accusations of socialism, communism, and worse. Your other comment, if fact, is an inciteful generalization of the left based on a single comment. Just the kind of thing we're both talking about;)
The rabid hatred of the left is met toe-to-toe by the rabid hatred of the right. Both sides are under the delusion that morality, ethics, and politics are manifestations of a morally binary universe where things are either good or evil. This universe is segmented by drawing a circle around your group and labeling the rest of the universe "not-my-group" and giving that pseudo-group the quality "evil".
Wow. This total misunderstanding of what this case is about, the purpose of copyright, the history of copyright, the differences between IP and property, and even the creative process gets moderated as "insightful"? Boggles the mind, it does.
I'm no fan of windows, but you could make a statment similar to what you propose. Design and business goals of the windows product line, circa 1988:
Abstract interfaces to computer resources (drivers)
Run multiple programs at once
GUI + windowing metaphor to simplify operation of computer
(business)Use and extend monopoly of dos product line
This are just an example, but I think it's valid. Windows 1.0 did these things poorly, but the design principles were at least partly sound, leading/continuing the dominance of their OS products on desktop computers.
For C++, the amount and variation of its usage is surely a testament to the philosophy of its design.
Well, char constants are really integers in C, but not in C++. In both languagues, chars are not the same size (typically) as ints, but they are automatically promoted to ints in expression, when required.
Jesus, someone has been listening to too much Rush. "Blah blah blah liberal blah blah blah liberal blah blah blah liberal..." ad nauseum. "Liberals hate the poor" - surely you are a Troll. Either way, welcome to my killfile.
Have you ever noticed that the guys preoccupied with "getting chicks" and always telling other guys they'll never "get chicks" are likely ot an age and place in live where they are not "getting chicks" themselves? Curious phenomenon.Present post excluded, of course;)
Well, cats do fuck with mice and other animals with no apparent intention to eat them, and they certainly aren't defending themselves. Sure they don't have formaldehyde, but they still act in ways that meet neither a) nor b) in your post. You probably haven't heard of a lion using a crossbow to hunt antelope, either. The technology you brought up is a bit of a red herring.
At least with an account, you can have a conversation, instead of drive-by insults and fire-and-forget bullshit. No login, no telling who you're talking to, no reasonable expectation that who you are replying to will ever read your response. So, no contradiction. I don't really have a maintained website. If you want my email address, give me yours, and I'll email it to you. However, you can be sure if you want to have a conversation, I treat this forum with the same attention I would an email from you.
I doubt very many people have nicks that appear on their drivers license, although a permutation of mine does.
This generalizing, stereotyping, vitriolic bullshit comming from someone that doesn't even have the miniscule amount of courage needed to log in and put his name on his words. Ho hum, nothing to see here.
What is the "issue" which you think I am clouding as an "obufiscator" and an "apologist"? I'm curious.
PS does slashdot seem really slow today to anyone else?

Face it: you're part of the problem, not the solution

This wisdom brought to you by an Anonymous Coward - yeah, buddy, you're living on the edge. Ironic or just stupid? You be the judge.

Nice troll, though.
Vim has a menu, too, FanBoy. Also, what if you forget [F10]?

I read those technical books by the bedside. Stroustrup's 3rd edition is a sure cure for insomnia.
And share your experiences so that others may gain from them. Oh wait, that is what he is doing.

On slashdot? Not likely. Try facts-r-us.
And the employees are entitled to bitch about it. Yada yada yada. Tell us something we don't know.

By killing other living things, we just do what many other living things do on this planet.
Was it life imitating art, or art imitating life?

Bullshit. The ones that break into zoos and set the animals free are the extremists. Oh, wait, that was a movie.
Never underestimate the bandwith of a herd of elephants with 8" floppies stapled to their hides.
Never underestimate the bandwidth of a herd of north american antelope shot and stuffed with punch cards.
Never underestimate the bandwidth of a anaconda threaded with optical fiber.

I'm pretty sure the asshole-to-people ratio is one-to-one unless there is common kind of birth defect or elective surgery I don't know about.
Nice work, you found a typo. You're still a coward, though.
