Thanks for correcting my typo on Sklyarov. (I've known Greeks and Russians named Dmtri, none of them spelled it either the way you do or the way I did, but they don't use Roman letters, either).
The key word in "Anybody But Bush" Is "anybody". Only a minority of those who might vote for Nader will consider a vote for Kerry. They're either voting Green or Libertarian, possibly even Constitution. They're already self-defined as Not-Democrats.
Giving Adobe a chance to inform John Ashcroft that Dmitri Sllyarov was in Las Vegas and having Dmitri Sklyarov arrested and flown hither and yon to restricted tours of America's elite incarceration facilities is, to me, an excellant reason to vote against anyone who voted for and supports the DMCA. That the whole thing was a mistake and the actual accused infringer was Dmitri's employer Elcomsoft make the injustice no less. Elcomsoft's exoneration in court isn't helpful to your position.
Now, having been given that Sterling example of this administration's ability to abuse the law, allowing them any latitude for further abuse is not, in my (not so) humble opinion a very good idea, and 911 not withstanding, no excuse to pass more laws for Ashcroft to abuse.
If you don't vote against anyone in Congress (and/or running for President or Vice-President) who supports either the Digital Millenium Copyright Act (DMCA) or USA-PATRIOT you encourage the Governments of the USA in ignoring of the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America.
The profound lack of respect for the First amendment was shown first by the prosecution of 2600 Magazine, then by the arrest of Dmitri Sklyaraov, and most recently by the seizure of some (not all) indymedia servers.
Of course, I can't blame either the DMCA or USA-PATRIOT for the Shii'a rebellion in Iraq, but I can point out that that's to be expected when Americans supress a Free Press.
Hell, since I'm on the fence about who to vote for, if one of the candidates for president would say "Hey, I'm going to fix the DMCA mess!" I'd vote for him. Too bad that'll never happen.
Vote for Nader, Cobb or Badnarik (sp?), all of whom have announced their opposition to the DMCA.
So the quick sucession of Charlie, Frances and Ivan were a message from God to Governer Bush not to fubar the 2004 elections, or perhaps from Mother Nature to President Bush that the climate is going South with a vengence.
Not a chance, both have alienated me. That I hate Kerry's potential only a little less than Bush's demonstrated incompetence is no incentive for me to vote for Kerry, even by proxy.
If your commercial interrupts my enjoyment of the program I'm watching, I'm remembering your ad and voting against you. And yes, I'll hold 527 ads against whomever I can discern as benefitting from your ads. So far, I'm only voting against Bush and Kerry. I'll expand that list if I only see someone else's ad.
Greens are happy, their candidate is on the ballot. I think this was aimed to piss off Kucinich supporters and convince them they have no choice but Kerry.
What I want is the name of the executive who quashed the suggestion voiced by a NASA engineer who'd watched the launch and seen the foam debris bashing the leading edges that the attitude of the shuttle be adjusted to allow ground telescope imaging of impacted leading edges.
Remember there are lesser offices on every state's ballot, and your state races for both Congress and the State House are certainly more influential on issues more immediately important to you than what puppet is President.
I don't recall IBM ever deploying a patent infringement before countersuing SCO. Perhaps I wasn't paying attention. The countersuit against SCO is explicitly in defense of the GPL.
There was this bill in 1998 that was supposed to die in committee, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. That was a non-story right through Clinton affixing his signature.

Ummm....
Orson Welles presented The War of the Worlds on Halloween 1938. Hardly "the 50's".

Kerry voted for and supports USA-PATRIOT.
Kerry voted for and supports the war on Iraq.
Are you taking it seriously yet?
I go with Genesis, until it draws breath, it's so much (animated) clay.

If I enforce the strictures of my Holy Sacrament on your marriage, how does that impact your Freedom of Religion?
You mean we're only allowed one addiction at a time?
There must be a way for somebody who doesn't live in Illinois and cheerfully lies to pollsters could care less, but I can't say it matters.
A Green candidate at the top of a ticket wins when any Green candidate on the slate below him/her wins.
Should (of all traditions) Americans be surprised that Shii'a rebelled when ttheir newspaper was shut down?

Is it any wonder after the push polls over the last decade that fewer voters are willing to honestly answer the questions of strangers who phone them?

I really didn't want to boycott Penguin.
