even if they printed super fake proof IDs with a little dancing hologram Bush in them and they were perfect, it still wouldn't stop any sort of anything they're trying to stop by using them. You'd still have people committing crimes and entering the country illegally. There are much more effective ways of stopping each of those. Plus, they either have to force everyone everywhere to be super strict and basically arrest anyone who can't present it on the spot or people will just let it fly if the person says they forgot it at home or something. Or they could just say they're not from the US and are just visiting if asked to present it. It's really pretty useless. We have SS cards now and that hasn't done anything...isn't that already a universally unique identifying card? They'd be better off just trying to build a mind reading terrorist detector or future predicting quantum device.
Just ask them to sign something saying they won't use it or you'll sue em. That will impress them and know that they can count on you not to show off any code you write for them and show off the coolest stuff. Either that or show a simple example of how you fixed a common problem that other programmers leave in most programs and be able to explain how you thought of it and why you implemented it as well as have an example of another popular program that didn't fix the problem (preferably from Microsoft.) For example, if you found a way to sync up the highlighted line between multiple bound listboxes to eliminate the delay between the mouse down and mouse up (I'm even still working on that one) and you show that then there ya go. They'll be impressed that it's yours, it's smart, supposed professionals leave it in their programs, and there's a decent reason for it...though you could find a fix with a better reason than "it looks prettier" like with the listboxes. Btw if you do fix that listbox problem, send me to code too lol.
ROM sites put it on and don't get shut down. That's all the proof I need. Btw don't copyrights run out after 10 years anyway? And wtf, the RIAA has nothing to do with games at all. If they got into games, people would storm their HQ with pitchforks and torches.
I was in the Sega Genesis and N64 generation and now that I have emulators and N64 controller to USB adapter, it's not only fun to go back to my favorite games (Phantasy Star 3 Generations of doom w00t!) but now there's universal forced pause and forced save state options that can make for some extra interesting situations as well as a fully integrated game genie/shark system that's way more efficient than the original. It's like playing the old games and then some! The best part is it was all cheap or free and I do still actually own the cartridges so it's legal too! I'd suggest emulation over actually playing older consoles. As for PC games...Comanche 4 is still compatible lol.
oh I don't hunt:-P but how often do you turn on the national geographic channel and see cheetahs with sniper rifles hiding in the bushes and taking out antelope. They don't use guns and they do just fine! Humans are just lazy:-P
And how long do ya think it'll be before we hear "well he said I was aiming at a deer so I pulled the trigger" at a murder case. Sounds like a pretty bad idea. I personally think everyone should have to hide in trees with hunting knives or spears and jump the deer because hitting a deer with a super long range, high powered rifle is way too easy even if you were blind. I think blind people could totally do that too:-P I would however like to see it legalized to hunt with high powered red gas airsoft guns like a super 9 with.33g aluminum rounds. That's the only legal "gun" that could kill someone that doesn't need a waiting period lol. In the meantime though, if you see someone with big, dark glasses and a marked stick and a rifle in the woods, I'd get behind something bulletproof.
I'm gonna have to agree with that. I tried to export an almost blank presentation as a ppt file from their version (forgot the name) and it said it couldn't do it. Then I nudged the title on the one slide with the arrow keys and it exported it just fine. There's really no excuse or explanation for that and it should be looked into ASAP. Even though the normal MS office templates really aren't that great most of the time, the biggest "selling" point for Open Office would be increased interoperability with Office.
Sounds like a great idea, given the danger of putting an unpatched PC on the Internet to download security updates.
yeah, that's just so terribly safe compared to not having it...except that now there will be like a million fake isos floating around the internet saying they're the latest batch of windows updates and people who are too lazy to make the iso themselves will install the fake, spyware and trojan infested ones.
I'll get right on working on a version of Open Office that runs on the Xbox:-D Then I can use that incredibly fast direction pad to type my documents. Ooh and I could bring in my Xbox for powerpoint presentations at school and have some fun when I'm not using it for that! The possibilities are endless! You may think that's a dumb idea but have you looked at the public domain roms made from scratch by people in their basements for earlier consoles like SNES, Genesis, and N64? THEY SUCK! Regular people aren't very good at console programming I guess. Office it is!:-D
one floppy sized holographics disc from InPhase is about $45 and holds 200 GB, probably more now, I haven't checked lately. The drive is like $3500 and only available commercially though:( But the read/write speeds kick everything's ass as well as the data density on the medium itself. They keep longer too. Every company should use them!
ionized particles that cause magnetic disruption and those lovely lights in the northern sky travel a lot slower but bursts of large amounts of gamma radiation and increased light across the whole spectrum travels at the speed of light and that's even more dangerous. Didn't you watch that one MARS movie where they get hit by the gamma ray burst? They get totally trashed then the robot goes psycho and stuff...at least I think that was the same movie. Anyway, gamma rays are scary and they travel fast so you still can't warn about them in time.
it's nearly impossible to predict all the stuff mentioned in the article. In fact, you can't even predict it when it already happened because most of what they mentioned travels at the speed of light. Let's say there was a space weatherman near the sun 8 minutes away at light speed. He detects a solar flare or big particle burst thingy or gamma ray burst or whatever coming from the sun and he radios back to Earth to give them a warning. But of course, the tranmission and the particles are traveling at the speed of light so the transmission doesn't get there in time. Better learn how to use subspace if it exists to transmit messages if they really want a nice 8 minute warning gauranteed.
wasn't a story by that exact title and pretty much identical posted a couple months ago? Anyway, all they have to do is design good security then design fancy features around it instead of the other way around where their marketing or possibly just "the dumbass department" desides to add in a features and just tells the security people to make it work. Either that or just stick with Vista and patch it until it works even if it takes a decade.
what REALLY happened is one of the UN officials farted and just wanted to cover for it by saying that humans aren't contributing to it as much as people think. But seriously, I wonder what they'd say if someone asked them why this hasn't happened for tens of thousands of years and just decided to randomly happen now that we're burning like a bajillion tons of carbon fuels. Pretty big coincidence, eh?
if I was a cop on that squad and they tried to bribe me or worse, take me out to eat, I'd order a really expensive steak and a bowl of chilli then shove the chilli in their face after I was done with the steak and then mace them if they got mouthy about it:-D too bad I'm not a cop lol. Hmmm I wonder what I can do to lobnyists as a programmer...
why the hell don't the cops show up at the company's door, break it down, and arrest everyone responsible and make sure CNN news crews are there to record it and make a story out of it. Then maybe these stupid, evil marketing people will stop thinking they can get away with it! It's called illegal for a reason. If they can arrest a guy for putting a distributed processing screensaver on school computers, they can arrest marketing execs!
the answer is obvious. Let Mccully Culkin stay there. He'll defend the house against bumbling burglars with sneaky traps and comical tactics in an action packed holiday movie for the whole family...what was I talking about again?
"Zero day" is only used cuz it sounds scary. First of all, it sounds like one particular problem with entering zero as a value for day in a program. Second, they said they definition specifically is an exploit that was just discovered and used immediately "in the wild." How the hell would they know how long people have been exploiting it and how long they've known about it before they implemented it. It's really just a stupid media ploy. Btw I'm a programmer and I can tell you that this exploit is relatively not dangerous at all because it's so difficult to exploit compared to other wide open holes that have been discovered like that one in IE that lets sites read your passwords for other sites without you really having to do anything or knowing it's happening. Now THAT is a security hole. I think a bigger security hole is the fact that wmv files can launch links to webpages and force you to download a file from them and they designed it that way on purpose because of DRM!!!!!
the mistake they made was that it actually wasn't a letter at all, it was actually a free 1000 hours CD that was sent to the wrong address. I can see how they got confused.
ads in game and stupid and ineffective. For real results, they need to be incorporated into the gameplay from the beginning. I think it'd be much more effective to drink Pepsis in WoW to heal yourself or shoot Pepsi cans out of your grenade launcher in Unreal Tournament:P
low quality photos are extra easy to edit (as well as editing high res photos then making them look low quality to cover the unrealness) and always sell the best. Maybe they won't buy Oprah edited into a KKK march but anyone could seriously edit any photos taken from a cell phone. They better do video only or something, not that that's much harder to edit with CG and stuff. Stay tuned to Yahoo news for a video of racist, swastika T-shirt wearing Godzilla attacking Israel!
I bet the US shined a big laser at it and broke it (if you don't get that joke, you don't read slashdot enough.) But really, I think we all know that most stuff with "made in china" stamped on it is low quality junk that breaks often so that's probably why it failed.
if they come through my neighborhood, I'm gonna moon em so they have to edit me out:P I don't want people all around the world looking at me getting the mail shirtless (yes I am that lazy despite it being 9 degrees out), my neighbors think that's weird enough. They actually can't film in your town AT ALL without a permit for that sort of thing so call the cops on em.

as an American, I have to say that anything that keeps Indians off the phone is good cuz we've had just about enough of talking to them as it is.

well then that's extra funny hahahahahaha! Take that, bitches!
