Apparently they didn't "get it right" completely. There's only so much autoprotection you can do to your software before bad design and general insecurity takes over and it doesn't matter anymore.

When one person doesn't have the budget to dress 100 people up in snazzy constumes and get together to be their favorite characters in the flesh, they can all do it themselves and it comes together as a totally awesome event. I would have thought slashdot folks would be all for that sort of thing. Don't get me wrong though, a lot of those people are somewhere between really weird and mentally disturbed but still, the concept is great.

It's just an extra-galactic bunch of crap that we can't see without a big radiation flashlight shining on it, not an interdimensional, unknown particle that resulted from quantum hybrid unicorn leprochaun magic. I can't even believe some of the idiotic theories about dark matter that have been posted on Slashdot as headlines! It definitely reminds me of what they say about UFOs. What's the simplest explanation? We have tons of crap flying around these days and that's what it is OR it's aliens from far away or time machines come from another time to observe us. Plus, I'd have to manually filter all SQL injection style text instead of just shrinking the allowable character set. The fact that he even put "my software will never have to accept korean names" in the list shows how out of touch he really is. I'd phrase my rule more like "I don't care if someone may attempt to use a foreign character set in my program because I'm purposely not allowing it since it's an internal program and we're based in the central US plus all asian languages have english letter counterparts." And he stated that people may have multiple names and aren't settled on just one at any given time. WHAT?! If they're using my software to enter their name, they have to pick one. A singularity has mass but no radius. It can still rotate though. That means if you shoot a particle into it at an angle, it gives is angular momentum and spins a little. Feed it a super powerful laser nonstop for long enough in the same direction and theoretically, it can rotate faster than the speed of light. That's because there's no point on the edge of the radius to measure the speed of so no speed limit is imposed. I don't know why they think it will stop "causing" gravity in the immediate area around it at that point but that's what they think will happen.

One reason is I have a gym membership that I actually use and secondly, I play Dance Dance revoltion! The estimates of calories burned per song are between 10 and 35 and they're all under 2 minutes long. I have freakishly strong legs now because of that and pretty good aerobic abilities. I never actually run anywhere but if I suddenly decided to do so, I bet I could get a couple miles. Last time I played someone's Wii I was sweating too so if I had one of those, I'd be so healthy it would be crazy :-P Then there's that glorified eye toy thing that's coming out soon that will force people to move around so I think this all these things will get gamers in shape pretty quickly.
