While I personally don't really like any of Apple's recent gadgets (controlling my mp3 player with a flat nipple is not very appealing to me...neithing is plastic that looks like it belongs to fisher price...but I digress) I highly doubt that no SDK is going to stop the iPhone from becomming the big thing that we all know it will.
In fact, that only two things that I think might hinder the iPhone are A. the fact that it is on AT&T/Cingular only, and B. the price point.
The first is what drew the industry standing ovation - unauthorized camcording will not be tolerated in Canada even if it means diverting law enforcement resources from health and safety issues to movie theatres.
I don't know about you Canadians, but if I lived there this would piss me off beyond comprehension. (It still pisses me off even though I don't live there, but if I did live there and my wife died at a car accident scene because no cops were around and someone else ran into her car....yeah. It would be time to kick ass and chew bubble gum.)
The graphics are exactly as dissapointing to you as Halo was to every PC gamer out there when it was released.
The halo series has NEVER had amazing graphics...it's been pretty, but far from amazing in comparison to other FPS's at the time.
I love console gaming as much as I love PC gaming, but fucking hell Halo-claimers are annoying little roaches. ( a Halo-claimer is someone that "claims" Halo was the most revolutionary game evah!)
hmm...I found that being able to create your own class, being able to play the game without killing a SINGLE THING (i.e. becoming a merchant), as well as the "no two weapons are the same" due to the differences in material quality and type....it actually was a fantastically fun game; just not an accessable one.
Frankly, I think it fit the Star Wars universe PERFECTLY. I mean, after all, how often in the books or movies do you see crazy little gadgets, or stores, or things of that nature? In the Star Wars series (movies, books, etc.) every individual was different. No two smugglers were alike. No two merchants were alike.
In SWG, the way it was orginally run, no two players were alike. If you want cookie cutter, it was not the game for you.
Well, considering the PC Market is where MMO games were given birth, I would say PC gamers know a thing or two more about MMO's than strictly console gamers.
And by the way, you do realize you can play console games AND PC games right? It's not against the law or anything (yet...)
If you think about it, there are MANY MANY more people in the Wii's target demographic than there are in the 360's target demographic...
Example. My girlfriend's parents bought her sister a Wii for her birthday. Her sister has NEVER owned a gaming console and frankly doesn't even really like gaming. She messed around with a Wii at a friends house and instantly wanted one.
I assure you she would not want a 360. Get my point?
And here, my friends, will SOE feel the full brunt of the backlash of their raping and pillaging many games in the MMO genre.
The very fact that SOE is at the helm will cause many people to not even want to READ about these titles, much less play them (and yes, I am one of the many folks pissed off at what SOE did to completely DESTROY Star Wars Galaxies which was, at one time, probably the best and deepest MMO around)
As an owner of both consoles, I will tell you this:
If you think you got a good deal with your Wii for 250 for the system, you will DEFINATELY feel you get a good deal with the 360 for 400. There are MANY MANY fantastic games out for it, and many of those games can be finished within 6-14 hours...because of this, even if you are only able to game 1-2 hours a day, you could feasibly rent many of the games for the system (and thus not have to spend 60 bucks on a game you will fly through) Granted, many of the games out there for the 360 are worth keeping or will take longer than 6-14 hours, but still...the big ones (Gears of War, Lost Planet, etc.) can usually be finished in under 15 hours your first time through.
You do realize that so baltently holding to one side or the other (ie the left or the right) that you are no better than the very people you hate?
When the fuck will people realize that we are all on the same team here? Last time I checked, America was ONE country, not two.
Indivisable, anyone?
Frankly, I don't care whose "side" you are on. To me, you are the exact thing that is wrong with America. Not because you follow one belief or another, but because you think that YOU and ONLY YOU can possibly be right.
Sorry, only stock I own is in Fischer Price....only reason I own that is because for my 3rd birthday my grandmother bought me 5 shares of it.
Despite my love for technology and my "geekness", I would prefer it if we still lived in caves and grunted at each other.
ah, but I'm a fanboy of no one, as I have resigned myself to the knowledge that they all have positives and negatives.
A fanboy thinks "his brand" is all positives and negatives. Personally, I hate Windows, OSX, and the 7 different distros of Linux I have tried.
Still, I gotta use at least ONE of em, right?
::shrug:: I would rather not be tied to Apple's hardware. I enjoy being able to goto my local mom-and-pop electronics store (or to a Best Buy, if I'm feeling like bleeding money) and buy any kind of upgrade that I want.
Yes, I know you can upgrade some Macs, but there is no way you can sit there and tell me I can find stuff for it as easily, as cheaply, or with as much of a selection.
I would just be upgrading the apple hardware I didn't want with more apple hardware.
That is why Microsoft is smarter than Apple. They can piss off their customers and STILL be installed on ~90% of the PC's in the world.
I see plenty of programs floating around that allow you to run Windows software on OSX. Don't really see too much in terms of using OSX programs on Windows...
Just saying....
Personally I wish I was badass enough to write my own OS...as it stands, I'm a PC Gamer and as such I use windows.
Frankly, I would likely use windows anyways. I mean, it IS awefully easy to pirate...
As do I, but unfortunately there really isn't anything else you can call them...if you have a substitute word, I will gladly use that one instead though:-)
I guess the reason why they are worse (in my mind, anyway) is because at least the Linux-elite are trying to promote open source and community...that doesn't make their tactics or conversational skills any better, but at least they have a decent cause they are arguing for.
Apple users...wow. Let me put it this way. You know why I prefer Microsoft fanboys? At least they recognize they are getting fucked in the ass. Apple fanboys are either too stupid or too numb to realize that Jobs is slowly eating away at them.
Most buisnesses exist and function soley so that they can take as much of your money as possible; ESPECIALLY in the technology sector. Really, if you think about it, Jobs could be considered a cult leader. Anyone who is so "loyal" to a company whos goal is to bleed as much money off you as possibly should be killed by flaying their skin with an olive fork.
I would start with their ballsack, but they already handed those to Jobs on a fuckin' platter.
I'm not going to deny that Apple has been extremely succesful, especially the last 5-10 years.
HOWEVER.
Out of all the fanboys that I hate, Apple fanboys are the worst. I never thought I would actually be able to say this, but they are more annoying than Linux-elitests...I mean, at least with Microsoft fanboys they ACKNOWLEDGE they are being shit on; they just don't care.
Well, first off regardless of how slow it's selling there are still more gamers around the world with a 360 than a PS3. This is just a simple hard fact.
Secondly, Sony has lost many exclusives as well as gotten the short end of the stick. So you get Ninja Gaiden Sigma, congrats...the THIRD VERSION of a game that was what? Oh yeah, originally on Xbox. Tell me which system the next Ninja Gaiden game will exclusively be on? That's right. Your nemesis.
That being said. ALL consoles have their strong points, just like they all have their weakpoints. Personally, I love all consoles because they enable me to play video games. I'm not a Microsoft fanboy or a Sony fanboy or a Nintendo fanboy; I'm a video game fanboy. I have come to terms with the fact that no matter which company you deal with in the video game world (and just buisness in general) you will have to deal with some kind of shittyness.
Now. All of THAT being said. How's that shill job going for you? I mean I understand companies putting cuntscabs like you on various forums, but at least try to be less obvious about it...
No offense intended, but they would be ass-backwords fucking stupid to not release it on the 360.
"I have an idea! Let's release our next Final Fantasy game exclusively on the system with the lowest install base worldwide!"
"That's a fantastic idea!"
I rarely enjoy the buisness side of gaming, but in this instance...well, as previously stated, they would be ass-backwords fucking stupid to not release it on the 360. The Playstation doesn't have the highest install base this time around, and they would be losing out on a LOT of money keeping it only on the PS3.
Not that I care. I haven't enjoyed a Final Fantasy game since FF6.
Based on your definition of a hardcore gamer, I would say point number one I am DEFINATELY a hardcore gamer. As for point number two, I would say I'm hardcore light (although I do spend an exhorbitant amount of money on gaming, I don't think I am a full hardcore gamer simply because I am below the 30-hour a week mark.)
Thanks for sharing though:-)
I see where you are coming from, but there is something you are forgetting...a 300 dollar video card will still work FANTASTIC, even for brand new games. The only difference is you won't be playing with 8X FSAA and 16x AF activated....but still, buying that 600 dollar video card is your choice...you have other options.
If you want a PS3 (new), the least amount of money you can spend is 500 dollars, which is soon to be 600 once retailers run out of the 20 giggers
Not a flame, I'm genuinly curious...what is your definition of a hardcore gamer? For me, it's not just time but also your attidue toward gaming in general. Do you see it as a way to unwind and relax, or do you take it seriously like Jeremy from Pure Pwnage?
Personally, I spend between 20-25 hours a week gaming and consider myself a "hardcore-light" gamer. While I am somewhat competitive (I will play the same map over and over and over just so I can improve on that one map for that one game) I still don't mind losing...I learn more from my losses than my victories and as such I embrace a loss as a free lesson.
Still though, geniunely curious: what is you definition of a hardcore gamer?

I have news for you.
The graphics are exactly as dissapointing to you as Halo was to every PC gamer out there when it was released.

Ah, I see what you are saying.
Very well put, my friend.
Well, considering the PC Market is where MMO games were given birth, I would say PC gamers know a thing or two more about MMO's than strictly console gamers.

Go buy one. You won't regret it.

You know, Hitler thought that same way too.

There is a difference between a government and the people that run said government.
Never forget that.
Tell me, good sir. Would you have approved of the abortion of Osama bin Laden? Hussein? Hitler?
Yeah. I thought so.

Learn to recognize fecal matter. Fuck.
You work for Apple, don't you. You fuckin' vaginal discharge flake.
