Give me a damn break, any idiot can follow the instructions to build a computer usually easier than putting together that cheap furniure you buy at Target. Fixing some software problem will rarely if ever harm the hardware so protecting your investment is silly, and if you did your damn backups you should have nothing to lose. And as computers become ubiquitus where would it stop??? I can just see it now, mother sues her son billy for working on the toaster without a license!
Now maybe Rob will take out the trash right after Kathleen does it or help around the house cleaning right after the maid leaves... Better yet maybe he will do the deed right after the milk man sneaks out the back door. There have got to be some good uses for redundancy in this world.

I will shamelessly steal from the RIAA and feel little err NO! guilt about it because a) the artists are not getting adequately paid under the current scheme. b)I do not own what I pay for when I buy a CD or a tape or other media, I only own that copy of it c)THEY ARE MIDDLEMEN and have no place in this new digital era. I will play fair and stop my stealing when I can buy a license for the music just like I buy a license for software. Then when I lose my entire CD collection (as I unfortunately have once this lifetime)I only have to replace the media. An ideal system would allow for easy registration with a third party company so anyone anywhere in the world could register their license. Then if you lose your media you could go to one of those cool ass kiosks that the Aussies have (we would build our own so you don't have to fly to Australia) input your license # (or scan in the UPCs whatever) and it would give you your choice of media for the cost of creating it...

I have been running Slackware happily for years now and have always downloaded the free iso from linuxiso.org this has been a great resourse but my consience has caught up with me, like listening to public radio/tv and not ever donating when they do pledge drives. This is a great product and you have the choice of supporting it financially or getting it for free. I saw that the store site was slashdotted but I do not know if that will result in a ton of sales. Hopefully I am not alone in thinking that this is something that, we who use the great slackware distro need to support financially and that more people will buy a copy. The shirt kicks ass too!

The tech did not know what I was talking about but, said they would look into it.
Then came the responses.
First they said they did not understand the request but that there is not problem with my line (duh!)
Then after I re-explained it, they told me that all such requests must come from my ISP (vector internet services inc. in this case. Qwest supplies the line, VISI the IP etc.) So I called VISI who has already told me that they have been though this before and that Qwest will not budge. They reiterated that Qwest is not going to do it and would not even reattempt the request because they had been through it so many times. I then called qwest back and asked why they sent me on a goose chase in the first place knowing that they do not fullfill such requests.
The customer service rep said that she would take it to the third tier support (developers as we all know), they denied all knowledge that it was even possible.
When I countered that Cisco (who made the DSLAM) had informed me that it was possible and offered to bring them in on a three way call, the rep refused and said that they must not have bought in on that 'option' from Cisco.
I guess I wil give up and find some other way to get my CS server on the internet. poo poo on qwest they should allow this kind of flexibility to their customers! Must be that old monopoly mentality.
I have asked Cisco if there is a way to turn off the interleaving from my side and they have informed me that it must be done on the provider side (great service from cisco btw!). I will contact qwest tomorrow when the business office is open and post their response to my request to turn interleaving off or down since their techs tell me that the line quality is great.
I am not hopeful though, everything else I have asked of them has been no or yes but then they screw it up so why should this be any different.
I have to admint to using Napster regulalry for months downloading and allowing ohers to upload well over 3000 titles, many I ripped myself and others that I got from other Napster users, however none of them are even close to CD quality some of them are partial chunks -o- songs that in general only gave me an idea of whether I wanted to go buy the damn CD or not!
That Napster should now have to pay 36 Million for what I already paid for in most cases and cannot even use with a reasonable level of sound quality in all cases, should be a CRIME!
Napster helps sell millions worth of CDs and pays the Music industry for that service!

A great interface to this game and I am not sure if it is a new genre or not but I have never played or even seen a game quite like it.
