Well, thats the entire problem. The Supreme Court has life time terms because the Framers knew that public opinion in the short term could be terribly reactionary. 5 years after the election, some people are still quite reactionary about the Election, thus the Constitution is working fine in that regard.

The United States is NOT a Democracy. The United States is a Republic and there are serious differences.

The fiction is that the Democratic Administration would have been "nicer" to Iraq than the Republicans. Thats a fantasy.

Clinton-Blair were every much as militarily active against Iraq as Bush-Blair. The military planning for OIF were devised in the late 1990s as Operation Desert Badger. Basicly if a US/UK or UN aircraft was shot down over Iraq the US/UK were going to invade Iraq.

"...discussions on Iraq preceding that, and subsequent to that, had been basically on Operation Northern Watch and Southern Watch and I think I mentioned to you that we had a plan for a downed aircraft called Desert Badger. And that I was uncomfortable with the fact that our planes were being shot at and we weren't able to do much about it under the constraints that existed.

I was also uncomfortable with Desert Badger, and I thought the President ought to have additional options, so I told him that I was going to see if we could pre-package some additional options, and we ended up pre-packaging a Desert Badger Plus and a Desert Badger Plus Plus. So that he knew about it, and that in the event a plane went down, I could call him and recommend one of those three."

The US/UK/Saudis/Kuwaitis were waiting for an excuse to go into Iraq. Right or wrong this happened in 2002-2003 and the Invasion was one.

This was going to happen no matter who was in the White House. Bush '41, Clinton, Bush '43, Gore, Kerry, it doesn't matter, US/UK policy was for removal of Saddam, to think otherwise is fiction.

"Susette Kelo, et al. v. City of New London, et al., more commonly Kelo v. New London, is a land-use law case argued before the United States Supreme Court on February 22, 2005. The case dealt with the limits of eminent domain, and specifically ruled that, under the Takings Clause of the Fifth Amendment, local governments may condemn private houses in order to use the land for uses that are primarily commercial, so long as such use serves a demonstrated "public purpose."

The case was first heard at the appellate level in the Supreme Court of Connecticut, which found that the use of eminent domain for economic development (the central focus of the case) did not violate the public use clauses of the state and federal constitutions. The court found that if an economic project creates new jobs, increases tax and other city revenues, and revitalizes a depressed (even if not blighted) urban area, it qualifies as a public use. The court also found that government delegation of eminent domain power to a private entity was also constitutional as long as the private entity served as the legally authorized agent of the government.
The United States Supreme Court granted Certiorari to consider questions last raised in Berman v. Parker, 348 U.S. 26 (1954). Namely, does the Fifth Amendment protect landowners from the use of eminent domain for economic development, rather than, as in Berman, for the elimination of slums and blight."

From the Khmer Rouge perspective, however, the severity of the bombings was matched by the treachery of the North Vietnamese. The Cambodian communists had refused to take part in the Paris peace talks. So that when North Vietnam and the United States signed the Paris Peace Accords on January 27, 1973, bombing missions over Vietnam and Laos were terminated. Cambodian foreign policy during the 1950s and 1960s was one of neutrality. By the mid-1960s, parts of Cambodia's eastern provinces were serving as bases for North Vietnamese Army and Viet Cong (NVA/VC) forces operating against South Vietnam, and the port of Sihanoukville was being used to supply them. As NVA/VC activity grew, the United States and South Vietnam became concerned, and in 1969, the United States began a fourteen month long series of bombing raids targeted at NVA/VC elements, contributing to destabilization. Prince Sinanouk tacitly supported the bombing. The United States claims that the bombing campaign took place no further than ten, and later twenty miles inside the Cambodian border.

In March 1970, while Prince Sihanouk was absent in Bejing and Moscow, Gen. Lon Nol deposed Prince Sihanouk and assumed power. Son Ngoc Thanh announced his support for the new government. On October 9, the Cambodian monarchy was abolished, and the country was renamed the Khmer Republic.

Hanoi rejected the new republic's request for the withdrawal of NVA troops. 2,000-4,000 Cambodians who had gone to North Vietnam in 1954 reentered Cambodia, backed by North Vietnamese soldiers. In response, the United States moved to provide material assistance to the new government's armed forces, which were engaged against both the CPK insurgents and NVA forces.

In April 1970, US President Nixon announced to the American public that US and South Vietnamese ground forces had entered Cambodia in a campaign aimed at destroying NVA base areas in Cambodia. The US had already been bombing Cambodia for well over a year by that point. Demonstrations took place across college campuses in the US, culminating in the death of four students at Kent State, lending support in the US withdrawal from Vietnam.
