In fact I can't think of any generic tech consumer item which would give you any prestige. You know what I think when I see someone with a windows machine, apple, linux, etc. They have a computer good for them how nice.
Except prey was not a good game, at most it was just eh. The spirit concept was interesting but never taken past the point of go through wall hit switch, or move platform where body is from point A to point B. The story (which the concept was cool) was never taken anywhere. The portals could have been amazing but again not much came out of it. And multiplayer...look 8 people only...sorry no split screen, etc.
Image if you could had invisibility in pre and you could have walked through say a city in the ship and ease drop on conversations to learn more about the story, politics, whatever, something. No we got spirit walk to walk through a force field and click a button.
How about making the games longer with original content? Yay look another FPS where the single player is 5 hours. Oh look RPG #4567 where the quests are the same except the blue slime is now red! Yes Football game 2020 where you can now hear players fart (and smell them!).
Seriously when was the last time there was a FPS with a really good in-depth story? Deus Ex is the only thing that really comes to mind. The last epic RPG was really BG2.
In summary how to get your game noticed? Make a really good game.

Wonder how many people will get "offended" if the games political ideology is different then theirs? For a 100% fictitious example: Someone plays GTA 37 and kills hookers and has no problems. Burns people and runs them over, again no problems. Their in game girlfriend gets an abortion, or says the like democrat / republican, or says the world is more than 6000 years old...all hell breaks loose.
Ok I see what you are saying and I agree. Everything you suggested makes sense except that means some poor govt. slob has to do some real work. And that poor govt. slob thinks hey raising taxes is a butt load easier then me doing any real work.:-)
The problem is raising taxes is too easy! Every time they raise taxes they corresponding head govt officials at the proper level (so local tax vs state tax vs federal) should take a pay cut equal to the percentage of the raised taxes. That should fix that quickly enough:-)
This is VERY good news. Just the other day I was complaining to my friends how I don't pay enough in taxes. I mean Federal, state, FICA, Medicare, sales tax, gas tax, car tax at purchase, car excise tax every year, property tax, car renewal tax every year, car inspection tax every year, tax on cell phone service, tax on cable service, tax on internet service, tax on food, etc. etc. This is not enough! I must be taxed more!

Do soldiers in the field play violent video games, rhythm games, fuzzy feel good games, etc?
Better in the sense that any person who buys something that later turns out to be crap/dies/whatever has to justify it to death why it is better and why the market was wrong.
Well I didn't sign any NDA and I don't see any NDA notices when I launch Halo 3. With how many people are playing and how hyped the beta demo is from MS and Bungies I don't think they can expect people to be quiet. At worst I can't play the H3 demo anymore...oh no.
The game doesn't suck but it doesn't rock either. I feel bad for the people paying $130 for the ultimate and $70 for the deluxe versions.

I am playing the beta and here are my thoughts:
The graphics are stepped up from Halo 2 but not by leaps and bounds. Cod3, GoW, Oblivion all look 100x better. The weapons are about the same, one or two new weapons but nothing which would make anyone go wow. I can still dominate just with the standard gun.
They are few items one can pick up: one creates a shield around you so you can have a safe area to rest (though people can still come in and kill you), one causes an EMP pulse that will knock out anyone's shields (not really used you have to be very close to use and by that time either you have killed them already or are dead), the land mine (useful), and an item which gives you a grav boost in the air (again I rarely see anyone use it). Oh there is a cloaking device (not 100%) but once you see the invisible person moving it doesn't matter.
Vehicles...the same, nothing special. You can hold multiple grenade types at once: frag, emp, sticky ones, etc. Nothing special.
Maps again nothing special. Some of them have a cool launching ramp that shots you half way across the map. That is fun.
Summary: Don't expect a massive graphics update (unless they change it up a lot past the beta), games like Cod3, GoW, Oblivion all have better graphics. If you like Halo 2 you will like this game. If you hated Halo 2 you will hate this game. Maybe the single player experience will be more of a wow factor.
OH on the plus side lots of teenagers still talking about how cool they are, women they bang, how gangsta they are, etc.

Because some places WiFi refuses to work. I have several friends (all over the country) for whatever reason wifi does not work in their homes, apartments, etc. So to use the Wii internet they had to buy the add on to do so.

I have a 360, love it, but the $400 price point is the max I will go for a game console.

The Wii is here to stay and dominate. Especially once they start doing some cool DS to Wii integration. It's base is huge, is constantly growing and still a huge demand which outpaces the supply.
I have no interest in one but may be buying one once Animal Crossing 2 comes out (its like crack for my fiancé). Unless Nintendo comes out and says they kick puppies, love Nazis, and wipe their ass with every nations flag in the world they are not likely to drop the ball.
I dunno I find the 360's interface pretty easy to use. Have a media center PC nearby and the 360 can use the MCE GUI for videos/movies/etc and is very slick.
My fiancé finds both very easy to use and find stuff and can get to her favorite Xbox live game (Worms) very easily and start a game with her friend across the country without my help.
Solution: Stop playing and do something else. Do some physical activity, start a garden, ride a bike whatever. To complain about a game you willingly pay for ever month speaks volumes about a person.
