Two grown adults saying to a private company we want insurance with you and want to be on the same policy and we are willing to pay, and the insurance company saying we would love to but because you aren't married we can't do that in NC but if you lived in all these other states no problem.
Not everyone has a middle name. Not every state puts it on the birth certificate. I'd hate to be that guy...but my parents didn't love me enough to give me a middle name.

Yes of course it does not say because it's a sin (and I don't think any law as the please insert reason for it in column A so people can see why the law was passed) but my insurance carrier did state NC is known for preventing unmarried couples from a lot of things. If an unmarried couple getting married soon is ok but not for an unmarried couple not getting married soon doesn't take a lot of guesses as to why.

If something happened (aka someone gets smart and goes to a DMV before it opens and robs people) my ability to prove who I am is gone.
Other states I have lived MA, NY, CT, WI all you need is your old license, copy of insurance, and SS card. Seems a little more reasonable.

I'm not aware of all the rules but wouldn't an insurance carrier not cover you for auto insurance if you haven't been able to prove you know how to drive? But to prove you know how to drive you have to take a test which requires you have insurance in the first place? Unless you can get insurance on some sort of you have 15 days to get your license clause? Which is useless anyway because once you get your license you could cancel the insurance?
As someone who just moved to NC I can say this is a very messed up state.
NC does not let you put your significant other on any of your insurance if you aren't getting married within a few month time window. Why? Because it's a sin! Been in many other states and none had issues with this.
Want to get a NC drivers license to replace your out of state be prepared to:

Your SS card
Birth certificate
Car insurance (how many catch 22's does this bring up)
Take a road sign test
Take the written test

A DS plus one of many add on kits ($30 bucks) will allow you to play music, movies, etc. Let you play tons of old GBA games and DS games from one memory stick. It's game selection is HUGE and still costs less (DS + Add on Kit) then the PSP itself. Then there is battery life....
I haven't been able to figure out the appeal of the PSP. I mean if there was a specific PSP game only that you HAD to have then sure else I'm not sure what advantages PSP gives you over DS (UMD movies...hahaha).
I'm not saying they are coming here for free emergency care. However the fact is when here, and when injured, they do use emergency services but won't/can't pay for them, in turn putting huge financial strain on hospitals and in more and more cases causing hospitals to close.
Which means more people going to fewer places, in turn making the situation get worse. It would not surprise me one bit to see in the future hospitals fighting the law which says we must try to save everyone's life who walks through the door to only those who can pay via credit card or health insurance or govt. give us money.

In Texas and other states near Mexico a lot of hospitals have been shut down due to costs incurred from treating illegal immigrants. A hospital may not turn away someone who is at deaths door. They must at min. stabilize the person.
Now when the person can't/won't pay the hospital eats the cost (they may raise their rates but then people will go else where).
I'm in no way saying let a person die but at the same time what is the cost to the rest of society has hospitals and such close?
