I doubt that's going to happen. These companies get popular because the other guys are screwing everyone, makes no-sense to follow the same path. People will always be in favor of the cheaper/easier solution, that's how Movie Rental places all went out of business.
Canceled my Cable Subscription, which I was paying over $100 a month for. With Roku, I have Netflix, Hulu Plus, and Amazon Prime, all of which cost less than $25 a month, plus my roof antenna for local channels. Internet TV is going to be the future.
Sounds like the mindset of many obese people. They eat junk food, and still believe their weight gained has nothing to do with their diet. It gives us comfort to believe in Junk Science, so we can continue our bad habits.
The World around us is falling apart, pollution out of control, population out of control, deforestation out of control, but hay! look at this graph and you'll see that everything is normal.
It's like comparing the pollution in rivers today with a polluted river some time thousands of years ago. Then saying "Hay, I found pollution in a river 3,000 years ago, so I guess Humans are not responsible for the pollution today!" Just because some event occurred some time in the past, doesn't mean it correlates with today! Just look around you, we already cut down more than 1/3 of the world's trees, what kind of affect do you think that's going to have?
Our company had all BB phones with BES server. We had numerous issues with BES, till finally we had enough of it, and made the switch to Android and iPhone. For us, BES is what killed BB phones.
It was a slue of features missing on BB phones that other venders provided with Android and iPhone. The Camera was leaps and bounds better on iPhone and Android, and that alone made many users jump the RIM wagon. When I look at BB phones today, it's like comparing them to the old HP Ipaq Pocket PC - to an iPad or Galaxy Tab.
Even if you do find a better way to type on a keyboard, do you think 99.999999% of the people in the world are going to follow you? Any job that requires typing skill is not going to ask if you know how to use a Dvork or Dextr keyboard. The keyboard will change when we no longer need them, after A.I. provides us a better means of communicating with computers.
Our company had both Thinkpads and Apple laptops. The Thinkpads outlasted all the Apple Laptops. Apple computers look nice, but is shit quality. Thinkpads are very durable, and easy to fix when something goes wrong. Now the company mostly uses Thinkpad's, as people finally realize it's not worth buying Apple.
And who do we have to thank for that? Microsoft! They provided the means with Exchange Server for businesses to get their emails on iPhone and Android.
All Microsoft has to do is focus on improving the support for Businesses, and Apple will always be the little man. Keep Microsoft OS on work desktops, Microsoft Office products, and Microsoft on servers (including better virtualization), and Microsoft will keeps its Monopoly.
Ever worked in an office before? I'm the IT Administrator of one, and most certainly everyone is dependent on Microsoft, whether we like it or not. We upgraded from XP to 7 because we had no choice, same goes for Office 2010, and Server 2008. Eventually, the vendors and software you depend on to keep operating, requires you to upgrade, or they won't provide you support. Welcome to the Microsoft Monopoly Game.
Many Vendors won't support XP anymore, and if you Install an older OS on a PC not designed for it, they definitely won't support you. In a few years, everyone will be forced into buy new PC's with Windows 8, and Windows 7 will be just another page in history beside Vista.
You're forgetting the fact that most Business, Small or Large, require the use of a standard desktop to do their work. Most Businesses are not going to try and adopt the Metro Interface with Touchscreens for all their employees, and somehow make it work with all the special apps they use. It would be an IT Department Nightmare! Microsoft wants to develop a new GUI, fine, just target this new interface for the right platform, don't force everyone to adopt something that won't work for 90% of the people who will use it.
How are they going to preserve your DNA on the moon, with all the exposed radiation, and freezing temperatures? It's hard enough to keep DNA preserved in a monitored environment here on earth! If you want your DNA preserved, better off just fossilizing it, like they do with Moose Droppings.
Windows has been going down hill after Windows XP. Sure, they released some new features, and more support for new hardware, but the Interface has become more cumbersome to use. I'm sure there is a good reason why XP stayed around for so long.
Would you rather pay to stop these people from having Babies, or pay their welfare when they have a dozen kids!

Exposing yourself to any amount of non-sense, and being told its the truth, can't be good for you. Religion is cancer to the intellect.

There are millions of Nukes in the world that will never be used, but a few could devastate us all.

Sounds like a Win-Win situation to me. Once you have the hardware, people can Kickstart projects to make software and games for it.
It will be like talking to a Psychologist. You speak what’s on your mind, and the computer intelligently logs it all for you.
There is plenty of room for improvement on basic cell phones (ones that don't require a Data Plan). RIM should probably focus their efforts there.

Apple computers are not intended for the business environment, it's meant to be a leisure toy. That's why Apple can get away with fancy UI changes.
