    Australia is working on a filter to block "Unwanted Content" (Yes, that's what our government calls it) and the United States is looking at having the ability to kill the internet should it threaten the ruling government.

    I don't encrypt email for the same reason. It's secure enough for it's purpose. Certainly allot more secure than regular postal mail sitting in a letter box next to the road. Email encryption really needs to become integrated as a standard within the clients. I think encryption as a whole will become much more widespread over time; especially with today's governments.

    In other words it's not actually email but a government controlled message system.We should ask the people of Egypt, Libya, China ect if this is a good idea.

    Would Google want to index a persons wall? Seems like a good way to degrade the search results. Allot of Self Promoting attention whores, it would be like letting us set our own pagerank.

    Of course he is exercising free speech. Like it or not anonymity is a requirement of freespeech and therefore democracy.

    The courts should never have the authority to bully websites into confiscating someone anonymity.

    The DNS cache will eventually expire without updates from the root. So without Human intervention it should disappear, I don't know if there is a protocol to save the cache in the absence of root or not. But you can manually enter it into your own hosts file.

    What trouble. I would give the jury a quick demonstration of how to encrypt a hard drive. (Time lapse the actual encryption process obviously).

    True crypt makes it so easy that there is absolutely no excuse not to use it. It should be standard.

    Virus writers need some for of skill. Spammers just hit send.

    Also the /. crowd isn't very susceptible to viruses, compared with spam. In fact malware probably keeps allot of us employed.

    Well HBgary are finished now. Who wants to do business with a security firm that can't even protect their own infrastructure.

    I'm not a fan of Anonymous, but they have done some good work here.

    Is it really a catch, considering how much personal information is in phones these days it's probably in most people's best interest to have a stolen device wiped.

    The funny thing is that Anonymous does have leaders. The leaders are the one's who co-ordinate the attacks by setting the commands for LOIC, they also run the IRC network and often outsource the botnet command and control to another network that's also owned and operated by an anon leader.

    Last time I checked their control channel there was only 12 or so bots in it. Hardly a force to fear.

    The mask wearing protesters are a different group of anonymous individuals. They do get rallied under the same banner, but the street protesters were engaging in legitimate demonstration. While the script kiddies on irc.anonops.ru are mostly just morons, there probably is some cross over between the two but it's impossible to put all anonymous "members" in the same basket.

    If that argument were supported then all freespeech would be abolished overnight. We all ready have a society full of pathetically fragile people who get hurt by all sorts f things. Just use the word "Cunt" in casual conversation and you'll probably see what I mean.

    Such fragile people should be in an institution getting help. Censoring every scrap of speech and communication for fear of hurting them is not the way to go.
