    Do you ever get email from humans?
    Email should be kept simple!

    Personally if I get an email telling me to jump through hoops I don't bother, it simply is notlonger worth my time.

    If you want to use a boxtrapper system to verify my email and all I have to do is click a link then it will annoy me, but I'll still do it. What I will not do is jump through hoops using specially crafted keys and other crap just to get an email through.

    My email address is dan@danscomp.net, I am able to display it here because I use a good setup to eliminate any spam targeting my address (SpamAssassin) . I don't worry about creating aliases or special keys, I deal with the spam that does get through but with most email being legit I would only create my own problems if I had it any other way.

    My point is that email doesn't have to be complicated, once it becomes an inconvenience... well that's the opposite of what it's intended to be.

    It's only when "loaning a game" translates to "burn a copy of the game" that you run into trouble. But that's not really "loaning", is it?

    But it is sharing, just like our mothers taught us.

    If we weren't treated like criminals we wouldn't be turning to piracy. I will not pay for DRM plain and simple so it's piracy for me all the way.

    The problem here is that the Government does not see the need to roll out new infrastructure. They have been talking about it for the past 10years bit instead they keep the money and give themselfs pay rise.

    Any Aussie who complains about their service is a dickhead. We should all be gratefull that we have Good Services, unlike the crap Americans have to put up with.

    My websites are all in the USA, Australia is too expensive for web hosting, increasing the cost won't make me bring my sites home any time soon.

    1. (Almost) All P2P systems will prefer high bandwidth and/or low-latency peers. These tend to be the ones that are local.

    I disagree, I get allot of good seeds from America, when I have a limited amount of bandwidth and need to get a torrent down as efficiently as possible I sometimes wait until the Americans have finished work for the day. That seems to be when they do the most torrenting from their home connections.

    FWIW the Naval Observatory is blotted out in all satellite photos. It's my understanding that this is a "national security" requirement and (besides it being a no-fly zone) satellite and areal photography are required by federal law to obscure it.

    That's like placing a sign on an aircraft.

    The thing about corporate email accounts is that they are setup by the IT department who don't let users use dodgy password recovery systems.

    Most mail providers don't support SSL for POP or IMAP, in fact I've never seen secure pop or imap.

    I can't speak for others but I'd rather keep that 1000 paedophiles where I can see them than chase them further underground.

    Nope, they don't have any access to systems at my end, all the bottlenecking is done at their end.

    I'm on ADSL I don't know if that makes any difference, but from my end there is no way to bypass the usage limit.

    How do you know whether or not you have access to a machine, without trying first?

    I make access attempts to hundreds of machines a day, every now and then I find one that doesn't let me in. I guess these activities make me a criminal?
