Yes, I've seen this first-hand. They have a roundabout at the end of the offramp from the freeway, which is about two blocks from the arena.
There was so much traffic it was backing up onto the freeway. So they had cops come and basically stop traffic from the town trying to get to the arena. So the town traffic backed up a couple of kilometers.
They just can't handle high volume traffic. I wouldn't have believed it until I saw it with my own eyes - these roundabouts function normally 99.99% of the time, it's only when there's an event at the arena that it fails miserably.
Works fine on gentoo - they don't force you to install it, so I didn't. I'm using plain old ALSA.
Now, I can't say much other distributions.... I tried ubuntu on my laptop and sound didn't immediately work. After messing around with it, I removed ubuntu and put gentoo on (without pulse) and it worked. Yay progress!
You don't own any optical media? I thought about that for a long time - just get rid of everything I have so I don't have to store it. I replaced the player to play my old content, I have hundreds of legit physical CDs and DVDs and a couple BDs.
I didn't even know that it could do netflix until I took the new player out of the box and set it up.
I used to think that way until my old DVD player died. My replacement BD player has netflix built-in, and it doesn't require a computer attached to the TV.
Still not going to get a netflix subscription though. I don't have enough time to watch shows and movies, and I'm pretty sure my ISP will complain loudly if I watch it every day. Go Canada!
The problem is artificially confining yourself to (what could wind up being) only 5-10% of the marketplace doesn't seem to be wise for the long run. Look at Apple's history.
They'll have to come out with a new iPhone every three months to keep their profits up.
Unless they've fixed it (doubtful), if you are redirected to the experts-exchange site through Google, you can scroll to the bottom and see the replies.
If they do fix it, I'm pretty sure it's against Google's policies and they would be removed from the results.
Eventually the market will be overwhelmed (if not already) by the number of Android phones. At some point the developers will stop and realize there's a whole lot of people in the other ecosystem.
Now hopefully they actually write an app that uses Android properly instead of some stupid iOS port - I've seen so many that are hard to use on Android because of this.
The big thing is that Android is going on cheaper phones - we just got a plain phone here at work with a keyboard for texting, it came with Android and it was a whopping $150 to buy outright. It's no wonder the shipments/sales have taken off.
Not everyone needs a $600 smartphone, and it's an oversight on Apple's part.
Pretty much any job that directly helps the automation will not be in danger...
They're just treating the gas and brake pedals like a switch, not a rheostat. Just like driving games.
Gas full on or off & brake full on or off. I got pretty good at those games, but in real cars the ABS gets in the way! :-)

Yes, but this would also be the safest. They could have bald tires on a snowy road and still have enough time to stop (barely!)
I wish. Then we could turn the bears on the CRIA. Nothing like a good mauling to show how stupid the idea is.
They've thrown enough of those recently. They should switch to something different... like chairs.
Before that, getting rid of Unity is the first step. It's not a desktop interface, and it's not helping desktop adoption.
Or, given that they're the police, have a portable service come and shred the paper down to pulp. There are truck fleets designed to do this.
It's not your computer. Your internet connection isn't fast enough for all the javascripts.
Crap. I never even thought of that.
Hah! I'll be eligible for retirement just before then! I don't care anymore.
...if at all. Lots of XP workstations still out there.
I find it amusing you have to spend $5 right after buying an OS just to make it usable...
What? I didn't think the interface in 2.6 could actually get any worse.
Not likely, they can use the web to find out what's new.
Yep, I just got an update for my Nexus 7 yesterday.

In my area, my speed would halve. I'd do it if they could match my speed or even better, increase it.

I tried to order a Nexus 4 to replace my 2.5 year old Galaxy S1. They sold out immediately. :(
If you have ad-supported free apps on the market, don't you think more eyeballs would be better?
Who said it needs a touch screen and an app store? I'm sure they could put one big button on a small form factor phone and be done with it. :-)
The Apple iPoor. Coming to a store near you.
