People are going to those advanced degrees because people won't give them a chance in an entry level position. H.R. says they aren't qualified.
Then, when they get the advanced degree, a lot of them are *still* willing to do entry level positions and work their way up. H.R. won't hire them. They say they are overqualified.
There is NO middle ground. This is exactly what happened to me. I was willing to come in low and work up even with an advanced degree. I was willing to move on my own dime. Nothing... H.R. simply trashed the resume because I had an advanced degree. Human Resources is nothing but a bunch of people playing games and if they don't think they have qualified people these people need to talk to their H.R. directors and find out what is *really* going on.
I can't answer for the poster, but I can say YES. I am against what the republicans put forth most of the time because they are bad ideas or puppet proposals for their corporate buddies. The democrats do the exact same thing and when they do I'm opposed to it (**AA anyone?). Allowing open bribery is a bad thing... it isn't doing business and it's just another way for these large concentrations of power to step on other smaller businesses.
Can someone explain something to me... how does anyone but Linus Torvalds have the standing to file an action or even complain about this? He owns the copyright, shouldn't he be the one that decides that something is in violation.
I know that FSF has brought actions in some rare cases, but isn't that on behalf of the real owner of the copyright?
Anyway.. it does seem like if FSF and Linus don't have a problem with what was done there is nothing to talk about. Am I oversimplifying this?
I can't remember the book I read it it, but the author made the claim that if you look at the part of Moore's law about human computing power, i.e. doubling our ability to compute numbers every 18 months, and temporarily ignore other parts of Moore's law it holds true going back to pre-history times.
In other words silicon computer chips took up where the abacus and solid state circuitry left off, etc, going all the way back to putting marks in the sand on the ground.
If we get to the theoretical limits of silicon something else is going to take its place. That's not a matter of faith because history shows it always happens.
Yeah, I know this type of comment gets modded down, but it had to be said in this case. Whoever you are you're an ASS*HOLE.
One of the things I hate most about living in 2011 U.S.A. is companies taking advantage of people who are ignorant of the technical details. Sure this has happened in the past, but it seems to me to be happening a lot more NOW and it is SICKENING. The fact that in the U.S. we have no one, government or in the industries themselves, that will step in and try to stop it makes me almost physically ill. I express that sometimes. If you think that make me a troll maybe you're part of problem.
I don't know if this will suit you, but the amount of money that is being spent on corporate lobbying efforts goes up all the time. I'm no expert on this (fire away) and I have no citation, but why would corporations be spending more and more money on something that isn't affecting anything.
It seems that there is a huge lobby that benefits in EVERY thing you list there. In some of them the lobby is actual people... imagine that. I think the corporate lobby is A LOT stronger than they were a couple of years ago. The problem is the corporate influence is getting STRONGER. Pretty soon there isn't going to be any other influence.
So it makes sense that all these people that want government "out of their lives" are ok with government making the most personal decision a woman can possibly make. Okaaaay.
It's WAY off topic, but it's one hell of a hypocrisy.
Obama is ALMOST as bad as GW Bush on this... and that's really sad. I voted for him because I believed he would move us away from the corptocracy and BOY was I wrong.
There seem to be people that think the government is taking over everything and there are those that think the corporations are taking over. Sorry, but people that see the government "taking over" are delusional. There is plenty of evidence, on the other hand, that the corporations are at best APPROVING everything that is the government is doing (especially in congress) and at worst DICTATING everything that is happening. I find the threat of a country run solely at the whims of what the corporate elite want MUCH more frighting than some non-existent fear the the government is going to take over everything. (Oddly, the same people complaining about government getting involved in everything are for restricting access to abortions. Try to figure that one out...)
These type of claims by wireless companies are SERIOUSLY wrong.
It's the exact same thing as if your ISP tried to charge you for using connection sharing in Windows. It's part of an O.S. you already purchased. It's taking advantage of ignorance.
FYI, I am not making a case for off-school-grounds censorship. I am against that. I am more interested in on school grounds protection from constant systematic abuse. That's FAR more important than some school admin with a power complex being able to go after something bad said about them on Facebook.
The Forbes in Forbes Magazine is Steve Forbes. It would not surprise me if Steve Forbes thinks Microsoft is ethical as his idea of ethics is Cash makes Right.
Children as seen as a commodity and chattel in the U.S. I know this will get modded as "Troll" or something, but it has to be said. We don't really see children as human in the U.S. We certainly don't treat them as humans. Even in this thread you can see people see "teenagers" as a totally other species.
Another thing about this is that words don't tend to hurt if something is said once, but when the kid has to go into these situations and hear these things over and over again the affect is cumulative and can be VERY damaging. Bullying works to damage these kids because the bullies have a captive audience day after day after day. If you, as an adult, had a room mate that constantly called you a "faggot" and verbally abuse you every day you'd have the option of leaving (not trying to get into a domestic violence argument, I know how hard that is for women), but a child has no choice in the situation. Hell, the way they get treated they don't even have a choice in the classes they take even as they get older.
If a company is doing something maliciously it's not a "conspiracy." It's a company operating nefariously.
A company not giving their phone reps correct and accurate information is maliciousness. I worked for an ISP as a phone rep and making sure that people on the phones *didn't* know what was going on or have correct information was constant and done with malice and forethought.
"Conspiracy theory" is always dragged out when someone claims a corporation is doing something wrong and it needs to stop. Corporations do stuff like the above every day and they do it because they CAN.
Go to the T-Mobile forum if you want to know how well this is flying with T-Mobile customers.
The subject should give you an indication.
I explicitly chose NOT to have anything to do with AT&T and now I am forced into it. Does that sound like free capitalism to you??

but but but but but the CEO knew NOTHING about what was going on!
He EARNS that multi-million dollar salary, but he knows NOTHING about what is going on!

Well... why not. The Supreme Court already made it legal to bribe officials domestically.
Did the good guys win for once?
ok.. I am oversimplifying the situation. That explains it...

...if all the top Goldman CEOs were put in jail for 8 years for their stunts that put the country into a major recession.
Whoever modded my comment as Troll is an asshole.

See above. Delusional.

Prince Of Space buggered off as well...

So if someone loses wages or feels bad because you told the truth you can get sued and actually lose.
For some reason that makes me feel worse than I thought he lost a libel case...
