Sosa is currently drafting an apology to her teacher. At the same time though, she said her school principal, Jolene Morris, violated her privacy by ordering her to log into her Facebook account at a school library computer. Morris then reportedly read the offending post and ensuing responses from friends before ordering Sosa to delete the posts.
Context is everything. The admin forced the kid to delete to posts. Are there actual copies of these posts anywhere? People are assuming its criminal without knowing the context or what was actually said. Without knowing what was written this is all assumption. If the kids said "Teacher X raped Student Y" I tend to agree, but what if they said "Teacher X acts like a rapist." Or "Teacher X leers at me like a paedophile." Is that libel? I am just saying that the administrator's actions sure give him a lot a latitude to say "the post said this."
We've made administrators lords of their little fiefdoms and all rights away because they are watching after kids and somehow children are sub-human. I don't see anyone would be surprised by any of the administrators behavor in this. The kids did something wrong here but we'll never know to what extent because the administrator made sure of it...
I agree, but courts have basically removed all the rights of kids at the schoolhouse door and created fiefdoms for the administrators. It would have to be a very egregious circumstance before they got slapped for overstepping their boundaries.
They might have just been using it a slur... we will never know because we lack to context. I was wondering, for instance, if any of the posts called the teacher "Gay." How many times has that been said in a schoolyard without the kid knowing exactly what it meant?
...remember that there is no violation her if what the kid says is true.
I know, unlikely in this case, but it's something to think about. Seems like a way that "policy" could be used to cover something up since kids are usually assumed wrong at school until they are proven right (at which point the administrator starts to ignore them).
At any rate, in the U.S. we've given school admins the right to pretty much create law by creating a "policy." I am not comfortable with that. It can and has been used as CYA too many times.
If I had a girlfriend though, I would want her to be Japanese. I would love to come home and see her dressed as a maid or in cat ears... I don't think that part of Japanese weirdness is bad AT ALL...
except he really WOULD have committed a crime then and the slashbots here would be saying "look what he did, he IS a criminal" instead of "he must of done something wrong. We don't know what it is exactly but the FBI doesn't hunt people who are good citizens."
In terms of Ebay they pretty much are the only game due to the way EBay has forced them onto us. Google Checkout could easily be used to pay for ebay auctions but Ebay has never allowed it saying that there were unspecified security issues.
Pretty much Paypal are scuzballs that force things onto their users in the name of security. Paypal's security basically does nothing but cause problems for people who haven't done anything wrong. This particular issue has nothing to do with the non-controversial nature of this non-profit (see below) but has to do with the fact that PayPal wants your bank number and if you want to play on Ebay/Paypal's territory they can force you to do what they want you to do. It's a much worse monopoly/collusion situation than we've ever seen with even the likes of Microsoft.
I work for a non-profit that does nothing remotely controversial and we have had to deal with the exact same issue. PayPal forces EVERYONE to withdraw from a bank account by default. They make no distinction about who they are dealing with and they care less about non-profit status. Because they are a quazi-monopoly on ebay payment they pretty much force people to do what they want if you want to buy or sell on ebay.
If you want to be outraged, be outraged that the they use their monopoly status to force their fingers into bank accounts, not that the made some political move they actually didn't make.
Probably because a lot of banks have online systems that seem to be written by Microsoft junkies or people that barely have a Freshman's level of knowledge about programming.
I was dealing with a credit card company web site yesterday (that will remain nameless) that was popping up messages in Firefox and IE8 that it required IE4 or IE5 just yesterday. I also have an account at a regional bank that has similar problems and seems to be stuck with a system that is so strait jacketed by their code that they won't be able to write an online ap or service anyone that doesn't have your usual IE or "Netscape" (yes, they still don't mention Firefox) methodologies.
All "certifications" are scams at some level. Some worse than others, but at some point it's about wanting to get your money while doing very little. It will create a nice new market for testing centers, book writers and publishers, and study material makers, but will ultimately do very little. Think how much Microsoft Certified Engineer....
We're doomed. The vast majority of the country is unable to use common sense. The "authorities" in this case for wasting their time and everyone else for looking the other way and allowing the "authorities" to keep their job after doing this.
These tax breaks are the great folly of our time. They can bring in a large-looking number of jobs to an area and make a politician look good for a limited amount of time, then the companies bail and often the taxpayers got very little for their money.
It's amazing that everyone thinks that big business is what drives jobs. That's a joke. The real job growth comes with small business. Big businesses will soon just be only the elite people at the top ordering all their stock from the 3rd world sweatshops. They aren't going to save the economy of the U.S. Why aren't we spending our money to support these small businesses that actually care about their communities instead of giving these huge breaks to companies that will leave at the drop of a hat. My guess it all has to do with who have the most lobbyists.
I didn't realize that the account was a fictional person when I wrote the GP, but I still believe whatever marketing drone that sent the tweet is an idiot that should be fired. They don't even appear to have basic knowledge about their product or what is happening with it.
Exactly. I don't know how these congresscritters can talk about this with a straight face after what happened in Egypt.
Anyway, to answer the original question, isn't a "kill switch" only feasible in a country that requires all traffic to go through some government-sponsored filtering system? We certainly don't want THAT in this country. There too much traffic for that, anyway.
And kids can't be pressured to say or do something by an authority figure? Again... no way to judge if the posts are deleted.

This post really made me laugh for some reason.

And only the guilty get beaten by police, too...
...and shut their crummy operation down. That would be a public service.

Thomas doesn't need to talk in court because he's told what to decide.
Scalia is pro-state rights until one of those rights conflicts with the interests of his corporate buddies.
yup. rtfa... It's a different certification, it's still a scam.

In terms of corpratism, Obama is only slightly less rabid than Bush of Clinton.
He's a huge disappointment in this area and I won't vote for him again.

Is "congressAssholes" okay, because I am comfortable with that term, too...

This marketing idiot retweeted something someone sent him and had no idea what he was doing...
Read the tweet...
He should be fired. He's an idiot.
He wanted to wear a Tron suit and be in a commercial with Justin Beeber.
You're assuming that the manager has a brain, and that's not a sound assumption to make.
