Actually chances are their jobs will be obsolete before robots will take over. Also if they are career minded they would get promoted and change the nature of their job by the times Robots can do what what they are currently doing in their jobs.
We have worried about automation killing jobs for the past hundred years. However the nature of the jobs have changed and these jobs that automation has taken over, has boosted productivity meaning companies need to hire more people to do jobs that the robots cannot do.
A manufacturing plant back in 1918 With a team of 100 employees can product 800 widgets a day. After automation it can product 8000 widget a day and they hire 500 employees to help meet demand. Without the automation the company and industry couldn't meet demand or sell at a price to match it. After automation came across there is a higher demand that can be met, thus needing more people to do the work.
The problem we have in the economy is finding jobs for workers. But finding customers for companies. High unemployment and under paid employees do not have the money to be customers. If business improve its process (even with automation) then they can sell more product and hire additional people in the areas that are expensive or difficult to automate. Often this mean a greater peak the company could do then before it.
I found if I am watching the Classic Doctor Who episodes, I can only handle 1 episode a day. Binge watching these get tedious, because I am waiting for a resolution while I am just getting more talking, the bad guys explaining their plans. For the once a day viewings this actually allows me to absorb what is going on, while binge watching, I am just waiting for the action.
Other shows, I can watch one after an other, because there is a lot going on, and over time puzzle pieces are being placed.
It is akin to a good dessert vs. candy. A good dessert is very rich and you can only have a small piece and you are satisfied and you have enjoyed it. While Candy you can keep on eating it, until you have a stomach ache and while you have enjoyed it, you are wanting more until you start feeling pain.
For the people who have jobs and kids, would probably enjoy more being able to watch the show once a week, however other factors means this isn't convenient, so they will compromise on the less enjoyable route. As the trade off of getting fired, or put in jail just to watch a TV show is too high compared to binge watching it later for less enjoyability.
Stuff that most people suspect. However we came up with a process called Science, which collects data to show if our expectations match reality. We live our lives with a huge set of what we call "truths" that we actually haven't proven, or measured. We live and make decisions based on our biases, and often base off of experience from extremely poor sample sizes.
For the most part we are able to live and be productive citizens with our untrue biases, and many of our unproven biases may actually be true as well. However if you are making decisions that can effect other people, putting your bias threw the scientific process, could be useful.
The net enjoyability from binge watching would intuitively say would be less then watching the show once a day or once a week, as our expectation of the next show will increase in the enjoyability. While binge watching, will get rid of the expectation, and also make watching TV more of a chore as we must see what is next. But that is my personal feelings. However a study can show if this is true or not.
This study brings up additional questions. If we find it less enjoyable then why do we do this. Are they other factors involved. What can be done to improve this?
But who should be jailed? Most of the problem in the company comes from a lot of people making a small lapse in judgement.
CEO - We need to sell our products for less money Middle Management - Company X will pay us money to install their software on our PC, This way we can sell our product for less. Engineer - Lets just install this software, it isn't worth putting our jobs at risk because of our concerns.
There is responsibility across the whole company. To jail the CEO for just saying they need to sell their product for less, seems unjust. To jail the Middle Management for making an agreement with an other company seems unjust To jail the engineer who is pressured to keep their job, is unjust.
The president has to power to enforce or not enforce a law. DACA could be considered an executive action to not enforce an immigration law. Obama had a decent (not perfect) track record of not crossing the line of Constitutionally but he did have to walk it, because of a congress who would refuse to do anything.
Unfortunately this "racist" turned into an insult, vs what it really means. Like the previous generation used terrorist, or communist a generation before that. However the problem it dilutes the seriousness of these labels. Where we had people marching down the street with torches, with armed "security" to intimidate anyone who would stand up to them. Calling someone a racist because of their Phone OS preference is really diminishing the impact of the the danger that racist represent.
It is the Individual phone makers who don't care about security. The same problem with Windows PC's If you get a PC and put on a straight Windows install without all the PC Vendor Crap your Windows PC runs well and fairly secure for a long time. However if you just run it off of the Vendors preloaded bloat. Then you system is open to all sorts of problems.
Apple for the most part doesn't differentiate between its OS and its hardware. It is all part of the main experience. Other companies just want to sell the device and doesn't care what OS it is running. And will just try to implement it as quickly and cheaply as possible.
The new jobs will require new skills. We are already at near peak unemployment (under 5%) but the problem now is the jobs that are open require sills that these 5% of the population do not have.
I would expect the company knowing it is having a dying product, would slowly ramp down, by not replacing people who happen to leave the job. Also most people will not try to get into that business anyways.
Oddly enough for The Yellow Pages, their biggest employee in numbers are sales people as every little line item in the yellow pages requires hours of work to try to sell it to the business. As for the book printing it is mostly automated, and these jobs can be moved to other jobs as well.
Business die over time. The Town Cryer was replaced by the printed news paper. As services are replaced by cheaper more advance services the number of jobs required actually goes up. Because the lower of cost of production means they now need to deal with a higher volume. So it still requires more people to do the work. As more people will require the service as well.
Often with a lot of technology flagged as ahead of its time, have features and ideas which are not fully worked out, or are not useful on the existing infrastructure.
WebOS was just an attempt to give Apple a middle finger, By cramming features, even if no one wanted them, or at expense of core features that people wanted at the time. Then there was that nonsense we they made WebOS to fake that it was iTunes comparable. Thus causing Apple to fix iTunes over and over. Giving WebOS owners spotty coverage for music.
If I could take my iPhone 6 back in time of the first iPhone, It probably wouldn't have gone quite well, because the Usage of the phone is different then it was back a decade ago.
As a police officer you are a public official, granted extra powers. The public has a right to make sure the extra power granted is used properly.
That said, the press needs to find a way to reward honest and fair treatment on what is going on. Government controlled media plays to the party, private media, is trying to get what makes money. We need a way to cover the truth.
The media really doesn't understand middle class and under lifestyle. Those making under 6 figures who need to make decisions which tradeoffs they want for their recreational purchases. But they all talk to their wealthy counterparts who all have 4K TV. Also if you are starting to live on your own, and need to get new stuff a 4K tv may be on the list.
I am still on a 1080p tv and I am not willing to upgrade yet because I don't see the point.
My experience is also the ones you yell the loudest are often the ones who have the least to say.
I am not denying that Google didn't abuse its power. But often we get a lot people who say how big old Google has thwarted them because their ranking isn't as high as they think it should be. And may be lowered because their post probably falls under a Ranting filter vs more formal content.
Just like a few years ago where Google infamously flagged a picture of an African American as a guerrilla (where the picture also had poor color quality, and she was angled at a seemingly uncomfortable angle. ) Was just a mistake on the algorithm, then a conscious reason to miscategorize something.
But what would drive people with enough population to all get into the boats and just boat to the east aimlessly in hope to find a large land mass to live on? Columbus was finding an alternate route to India to avoid Italian taxes. The vikings were further north, where they could travel to iceland without killing themselves. Both after had arrived had then traveled back.
Actually we are probably repatriated depending on how the contents were shaped back when vertebrates first walked on land. A lot of Africa Continental plate was squished against other land masses.
It is Conquerors all the way down. They may not had conquered people. but they had conquered the elements, infections, wild animals, and unknown terrain.
I really miss the simple days of x86 where the bigger x is the newer the chip and the the number of megahertz where the higher the megahertz the faster the chip.
now we have these i3, i5, i7 and i9 but they span mutable generations so I need to know the stupid code name to figure out who is newer. The Ghz range peaked around 3ghz. Then if you ask which is faster you get the question what are you trying to do.
America is also very generous to charities (republicans actually giving more to charity than democrats). So Clothing is often sent to Good Will which will be donated. If they are in poverty they are on welfare and they will be given enough for the lowest end apartment in the area. The TV, Video Games and DVD may have been given to them as a gift, or had owned them before going in poverty. Sure they could had made better purchasing decisions.
Sure living in poverty is better in America then other parts of the world. However there is a gaps in the demographics, Between Poverity, lower middle class, and lower middle class to upper middle class, and upper middle class to wealthy.
The question is where. 90K in Upstate New York is a upper middle class living. 90K in New York City is living in poverty.
While the tech companies that get the most media attention are in the big city areas, Paying 90k is more or less ripping off the employees. However a few hundred miles away we have the tech companies, who are not under the press, or do things not as exciting. However are paying their workers 90K and are able to make a really good living.
I pay under 2k a month for my house, with over an acre of land. A few hundred miles away that 2k wouldn't get me a 1 bedroom apartment.
99.99% uptime 365 allows for almost 9 hours every year. A full business day of work.

I just don't get outraged from one source of information. Google could be in the wrong but I need more info before decreeing judgement.
He is probably waiting for his TV to break.
That is why I upgraded my TV to 1080p because my CRT died.
If there is anything I would like to upgrade on my TV is a better sound system. More than a higher resolution screen.
