I kinda wish it was like the old days of dialup. You have two bills. 1 for the Infrastructure (Telephone Line) 1 for your ISP
The problem now is they are both the same... I should be able to say choose from Cable/Satellite/Cell/Fiber Optic. Pay x per month for the infrastructure which has its fixed peak speeds. Then you choose your ISP, who pays so much for caps or no caps, IP Address... Email and any other feature you want and don't want.
However... If you are paying for a consumer line vs a commercial line. The Business line for 30mbs may cost $120.00 a month vs. the Consumer Line for 30mbs may be $80.00 per month.
What is the difference if it is the same speed. The difference is the Business line expects 24 nearly optimal usage of the connection, while the Consumer LIne expectes 4 or 5 hours a day of streaming traffic. So because of this price difference that is why the companies feel justify to throttle your speed if you use too much. The no data cap means they are not going to nitpick you if you go over however if you go past a particular threshold they may slow you down... Other than the greedy business reason, if someone is using excessive bandwidth chances are more likely their system got hacked so slowing it down can help slow down its damage it could do. Yea that is rather lame excuse... However I expect users would get pissed off if the ISP just stopped their account.
The key problems with Data Caps is the fact the business cannot keep up with the technology.
20 years ago 50 Megs data cap was more than enough for most dial up users. 10 years ago 5 Gigs data cap was more than enough for most broadband users. Today 50 Gigs data cap is currently what is considered decent for home use.
For the most part our behavior hasn't changed that much, we more or less download data 2 hours a day. However as speed increases the amount of data we download increases.
In terms of stream quality. Netflix usually will go the max quality that the show is broadcasted for. So some of your old shows it will be at a much lower resolution. If Pokemon is streaming 4k that means that the show was made for 4k.
Right on man. I will never use a government funded technology, like that silly little communication standard that was built because to allow communications to move cross country from the rare event of a nuclear attack on major cities. Such crazy system using a bunch of packets that could be routed in different ways then come back together to form the full set of data. But that is just crazy talk. As a long time slashdot user, we have no use of such network system.
Back in the original Doom you would need a 386 with at least 25mhz 4 megs of Ram and a VGA display. It usually took a while to render a full screen display. So there were many tricks with pallet color changing, pattern overlaying, and using a set of pre rendered material.
Sierra adventure games which were at its heyday during this time. Which offered a lot more detailed graphics, at the expense of waiting for every screen to load. So the excitement was getting to a new screen, each one rendered in high quality and spend hours on that screen to see what secretes it may hold, or hints. But these systems were so slow that either you needed to do a lot of extra tricks to make the game play fast while getting rid of detail. Or you leave the detail and you alter the game so you take as much advantage of that limitation.
There is a problem. You can solve it or ignore it. The light bothers some people however the light indicated useful info. Switching from led lights to an lcd strip can be an affordable solution to fix both problems. You can ignore the problem but the problem still exists. Sure it doesn't bother people enough to speak so if they are at the hospital and filling mizerable that blue LED may be annoying but they are experiencing far more annoying things. However it absence will just help the person out a little more get that extra 20 minutes of sleep.
I am sure most police offiers they will normally go the safe route. If it says it's dangerous they are going to treat it as such. In some countries Chiefs needs a special permit for their knives. And if someone's house gets raided and they find knives they get holding dangerous weapon charges.
Do you have any idea on how stupid doctors are in terms of technology? A doctor is traveling the battery on is phone is getting low while waiting for the connecting flight he wants to charge up his phone. But no... Some idiot decided to fry the USB charging station because it makes him feel like a big man. So the phone dies. More to the point when technology is deployed and is expected having it broken or damaged can have extended consequences that can have a wider effect than your small mind can handle.
Thinner is one issue but more to the fact what could you fill in that space. More battery? More processing? Another sensor or two? It isn't that the port is a stop in progress but it is an engineering hurdle that need to be looking looked at in every design.
I expect it is part due to US nationalism. The same way the EU may keep an exra eye on American companies to make sure they are following the letter of the law, while their EU based companies may get a blind eye. I expect the US government want Apple to get the advantage here so Samsung will need to deal with stricter enforcement of the law from the US.
No crazy conspiracy just the fact that people will look out for themselves first.
Opening it up to Twitter is a great idea. It allows all the arm chair scientists to express all their ideas based on nearly no facts to feel like they are useful. While people are doing the real work can just ignore the feed and not get indicated with calls and emails expressing their awesome theory.
I expect it is a chicken and egg. The 3.5mm Audio port was made around 1964 was designed for technology that had its covering material thicker than the full devices today. The port is now huge compared to what is needed. That space could be used for extra battery, or more sensors... I am sure Apple has been seeing this engineering problem. So it would make sense for them to encourage the growth of bluetooth, so they can get to a point where they can get by without making a port.
Apple tends to be the first company to ditch old technology. Usually with a bunch of people complaining at first, then shortly realize it isn't that big of a deal. As apple usually offers an alternative.
Because there is always some asshole who feels the need to break stuff. These public USB Power ports were set up as a convenience for the public and the customers, so that Doctor can have his phone charged so he doesn't miss that life saving call. They are giving us free energy to power our mobile devices. The TVs to entertain us, while we are stuck waiting. But no there has to be some jerk who needs to find a way to break it. We can't have an infrastructure for new technology now, just because it can be broke.
Now this device is just for bad people to do bad things, there is no good in it. It isn't even good enough for properly destroying technology as for the most part it will probably just damage the USB interface card and not reliably break the rest of the system.
Because the Engineer is a high enough position of have responsibility for what they do. However not high enough if convicted to show a systemic problem in the organization.
I have left jobs, because I had found myself going down a slippery slope, a minor tweak here, cut a corner, tell a little white lie there, over inflate an estimate there... So I usually start looking for new work when I realize I am getting to a point where I see that I am becoming what I hate.
However for many people they may not have the same moral compass, or a different point where they do a self evaluation. Also sometimes if they are rewarded well for such bad behavior the rewards may outweigh the risk.
Well I am voting for Hillary? Not because I have a glowing review for her... But the fear of what Trump could bring. Hillary is a known substance, she has been positions of power we know what to expect from her. Trump, on the other hand has with the Trump Brand business, I am unable to picture him with the patients, and tolerance to deal with the problems of the country. And the real questions what would happen to the states that didn't get him elected. Hillary does have a track record of working with people even ones who may not directly give her votes.
The eMail server is a distraction. Yes it was stupid of her do that... However it was rather common practice at the time. The classified material found wasn't classified when it was sent. And for the material that was sent the real criminal was the person who sent the email to her server.
I don't care if I personally like or dislike the person. However I want someone who will work for their groups they are representations best interests. It is important for a representative to know and understand us and our needs but not agree on our pin hole view of the world's solutions to our problems that we haven't solved ourselves.
Trump is pandering Bar Room solutions without actually knowing the real issues that affect us. Just because these Bar Room solutions are the quick gut instinct solution we come up with without the need to fully analyse the problem.
The real question is are these alternate chips that are x times faster than the competitor (x-y) times the price. I loved my UltraSparc Ultra 10 Work Station, back in the early 2000's. However I had moved over to intel, because the performance/price just wasn't there.
If the power8 is 5x the speed of intel. however if it costs 6x as much... Is that speed boost really worth it. Or just get additional Intels to do the work.
Also we can get into the complex discussion of CPU performance specifications. Where each devices is particularly designed to do different jobs better than others, combined with the fact that you will need programs optimized for those CPU to get the performance gains...
Also to note Electric Cars are a luxury for the Rich of Americans and Europeans. This isn't old fashioned yet, because there isn't a wide scale replacement. A flip phone is an old fashioned device, because most of the population have moved over to smartphones. However your iPhone 6 isn't an old fashion phone, just because the 7 just got released. There are still a lot of gasoline cars being created in the market, with many companies without an all electric plan for their cars in any time in the future.
Having seen microfucus software... They are often the equivalent of quickie apps that are marketed as full fledge enterprise tools. I expect with the grandparent that microfucus probably stated they were in violations of term and tried to sue them. So the company just dropped them like a brick and asked its development staff to fill in the gaps. Stating it took only a couple of weeks it probably just a small admin tool that most admin can program to streamline operations.
You can plug in a hardware device into a computer and it may communicate with it. Just as long it tells the computer the correct response timely you can process the data sent to it in any way possible. What may be just as easy is a pass threw sub connector where you plug your keyboard into one end. It will send keyboard data to the PC just fine. But log it and connect to a wireless network and send the data to different spots. You can run all the system checks and not realizing they keyboard extension cable is the actual hack.
I kinda wish it was like the old days of dialup.

Why can't we get a strip ok old school lcd like in the digital watch of the 1980.
It can show the info without the light.

That is like saying don't enter my home it is boobytraped. That will work great for you if someone gets injured.
Do you have any idea on how stupid doctors are in terms of technology?

It is a zero prong approach. They want to get rid of them all.
I expect it is part due to US nationalism. So you will get arrested for impeding an investigation. Also for damaging police property. Having property in attempt to do harm...
So you get to go to jail for real crimes vs being able to defend yourself for a crime you are inocent of.

Most business and organizations of consequence have backup energy capabilities.
