Scam Artists thrive in an environment where there are fundamental problems in the economy. People are suffering, so offer them false hope. People are scared, so offer them protection. Life is complex, so give them easy solutions.
We have a fundamental failure in our safety net and support systems. So we can't trust our neighbors, government, religion, companies, families, and friends. So we are fighting for ourselves, and desperate for any sort of tool to help.
I never stated in my post that I supported that plan. Actually I tried (and seemed to failed, or you just didn't want to comprehend) the fact that Frances actions are the Same driving force as Trumps actions. By placing a barrier to free trade in hoping that your group can somehow get ahead.
Mostly because Google follows the Written HTML standards much better. The stuff I write now works good on Edge, Chrome and Firefox. I am not trying to mix in IE Compatibility layers or cutting features because it wasn't supported. Google may have pushed and implemented such standards, but they are Open Standards, unlike IE 6, with Active X or Sliverfish plugins. Which you needed That browser version with particular version of windows for it to work.
I think that is what they may want. Europe in general has been lagging behind the United States in terms of online services. Most of EU biggest tech companies are Industrial Technology (Siemens, Phillips, etc...) The Consumer Technology companies have a hard time competing against the Facebook, Amazon and Google. Primarily because they are so big, they can offer so many services so cheap that new competition will need boat loads of money to even be a threat. So making these products more expensive, it will open the door slightly enough to get their foot in.
We are in a time of a renewed sense of nationalism (Which I don't think is a good thing). But not just the United States, but every freakin country in the world seems to doubling down, protecting what they have, and preventing the "other" from coming in either physically, or with taxes and extra rules.
I expect this comes from the last Recession, because of the countries interconnection in trade that means stupid stuff done in America or China which you as a citizen has no control over, will affect your lively hood, and your countries economy. Now this works both ways, when the other countries does something good, you will also get its benefit as well. But the world is kinda feeling the pain from the last recession, and trying to lock out those "others" out.
Microsoft has to learn how to make software like everyone else. You need to keep compatibility with the big fish, and not just do your own thing, and thinking everyone will switch to your method.
I am sorry, I had to code too many IE 6 workarounds and not put in new features due to having to keep IE 6 compatibility for so long, I have no sympathy to this Edge engineer.
Google site supported open standards, and its features were build around open standards. And not Microsoft specific features, that other browsers don't support.
"If CO2 is really a problem, local governments will seek to adopt some of those ideas." What kind of statement is that? Local governments are extremely short sighted. My town isn't in a flood plain why should I care about global warming? Local governments may make a bigger deal with Air Quality issue such as smoke and smog, but at the current levels CO2 is mostly harmless to people.
That is the problem with CO2 and Global warming. It is a real problem, but it isn't easily seen, and to fix it requires a lot of changes, which we as humans don't want to do.
Because it is a popular building material, it doesn't mean we should look at ways to reduce its CO2 impact. I have been getting a lot of All or Nothing type of debate lately. So it produces 8% of the worlds CO2. If we can cut in by a quarter, then you could reduce 2% of carbon emissions.
We have people at work, doing their job very inefficiently and over complicate the process, they won't accept a new way, because this method was already an improvement on what it was like before.
The key objective in a war, is to get what you want by any means possible. Wither that is land, material, workers, or just follow your ideas or not being a threat to your security.
Today, why bother with all the killing, when you can obtain your objectives via hacking the media. I
Besides the mini-Nintendo stuff, is just an emulation of the ROMs not small version of the same hardware.
A lot of these older games, just won't work on newer TV's without some emulation. LCD and the other Digital TVs were based on Pixels. Older game the pixels were more based on timing, and artifacts, granted I am talking more about the old CGA displays and less about the Nintendo.
Not to sound too disparaging. But Open Source is often the waste bin of dead technology.
Well we worked hard on it, it wasn't profitable. Might as well open source it, and see if anyone else would have any value with it.
There are some successes such as Mozilla which Netscape Dumped its Netscape Communicator Code to the Open Source, because they were not making money from it. But there are a lot of other things that just never did anything with. Because it was garbage.
the iPod brought more influence on Apple. However I think what really did it in was the iPhone and Android phones. Where these consumer devices started to hit the tech news cycle.
What is your reasoning behind this? A communist (who believes in a highly regulated economy, where the interests of the community exceeds the interests of the individual) isn't an American Patriot, or agrees on Censoring information. Now me personally I don't see communism as an effective economic model, because we have China lagging behind the US, while in terms of resources and demographics it has the ability to exceed the US quite easily, I expect the communist economic model is holding the country back.
Next, what evidence that they are not censoring conservative American News? Conservative American News is saying it under attack all the time by censors, however it would seem to me that the censors would want to stop them from saying that as well too?
The got caught doing an unpopular (perhaps unethical) project, that project name is now tainted. So Google has only one recourse. Changed the name of the project, and bring in better marketing people to spin the new product more positively.
Well I live in an area where PFOA have been polluting the water supply for decades. And this Highly Regulated system, just ignored it. Until a citizen realized that a lot of his neighbors were getting cancer, and did the study himself.
Where I live we have PFOA leaking into our water system, even well water is affected. While the state has put in water purifiers the population still really doesn't trust it.
That and a lot of the water from wells, has a lot of minerals smells like rotten eggs (sulfer) and tastes like crap.
Would you rather have it around blockchains or bitcoins? Perhaps we can have it like Slashdot back in the late 1990's A dozen articles a day mostly based on Linux, 3 of them are dupes, 1 is about a minor kernel upgrade, and 3 about some sort of Windows manager. 4 on the Evil Mean Old Microsoft, and 2 on some programming langue authors latest GNU Rant (for or against), then a something else.
Supply and demand. While the unemployment is low, the supply of workers isn't so much. Unemployment numbers are from people are accounting for people who are actively working for work. Not people who cannot work (Age, Illness, etc...), don't want to work, are in school for example. During the last recession, a lot of people gave up and took themselves out of the job search market, now with low unemployment, and job offers, people will come out of the wood work get jobs. So the supply of workers available is still high, mainly due to bad categorization of Unemployment.
Normally we would expect during very low unemployment salaries to rise, but that isn't the case because companies are still finding employees to fill the spots.
Secondary, benefits are increasingly important to job seekers. A more steady W2 job with health care and good benefits, will be more of welcomed then a higher paid 1099 work. The cost of these benefits are going up, so the employees are not getting paid more, mostly because the company is bunting more of the weight of the cost of living.
Third: There is a general fear of an impending recession again. This is making sure companies don't go too crazy in expansion.
How much energy production is lost? With our power grid, we just can't turn it off if no one is using it, or dial it down to a point where the correct amount of electricity will come in Just in time. For the most part electric vehicles will be charged up over night, during lower energy demand and where these power plants are still turning generators and producing more power then needed. Sue with Electric Vehicles there will be more demand on the grid, and states may need to purchase more power, but I don't see it as a linear growth, usage.
Being that natural gas is a cheaper energy source, I would expect most of the power will be from Natural gas. But still having energy production centralized in particular locations, allows for easier regulations and monitoring of the pollution. So if we were to come up with a CO2 Scrubber it would be easier to put it on a smoke stack on a coal power plant, then on the tailpipe of every city bus.
PETA doesn't support anything. Especially after they realize how many pests from bugs - rodents - birds. Will get killed in the process of effectively growing vegan food.
Yea ignoring a group of people who have strong feelings on a topic, discrediting their belief structure and culture, works out so well and makes the world a better and efficient place.
Lab Grown meat is a product for the populous, to help meet demand and feed the world. Now if there is a cultural road block onto such a product, it should be studied and discussed, so production quantities can be made to meet demand, having the right group of peoples be targeted for such product.
Many of these religious food restriction rules, came from rational (nearly scientific) reasons. Pork needed to be properly cooked, unless you can get hook worm, and get sick and die. Cattle was more useful in providing milk then meat, so better for long term investments, many people have allergies in shell fish. So these rules placed in a religious context were very important.
I get it, you are an atheist, and many of the religious traditions seem barbaric to you... However, as an atheist you are still in the minority, and you will need to deal with the other people. Ignoring religious concerns and cultural preferences just because you don't agree with them will only hinder solving such problems, and such groups will undoubtedly backlash against you.

We haven't done our tax returns for the year yet.
Not being to deduct our state taxes against our federal ones, could negate the benefits.
