But really the government has got way to complex for us. The ultra rich have resources to work with it thus any new rule and regulation that popular demand puts up they will find a way around. Leaving the middle class to do the heavy lifting and getting screwed.
I remember I was working at a small business. They were trying to get a grant "Geared to help train employees at small businesses" They filled out the paper work, they got rejected because the training needed to be in state, they did it again, because they deemed the training to be too specialized...

The Democrats make government services that only the rich have the resources to take advantage of.
The Republicans try to get rid of services so the rich don't have to pay for them.
In short we loose with a two party system.

The Windows desktop when clean can run just as fast as those Unix Based OS's sometimes faster because they are better drivers for it. But it really comes down to how you use it. For you x is important so one OS does x better then the other. So you found your OS. The key difference was they didn't discover a lot of technology we take advantage of. How many of us will know to find metal ore. If you did find it how many would be using it in a fire hot enough to melt it.. Still after you melted it and find ways of molding it. You will probably be only using for jewelry, until you figure out more of its properties. A lot of these early discoveries were just random luck. Other then keeping the roads clean and safe most of their services do not effect them, except in their pocket.
The people who tend to vote democrat are usually Government/Non-profit workers or live in Urban Areas, because this group sees government as a benefit to their livelihood and to their constituents.
The democrats distrust the republicans because they see their view as being greedy and not willing to help the general public.
The republicans distrust the democrats because they see their views as being moochers who want them to pay for everything.
Republicans do not need to be greedy, actually they tend to donate a lot of their time and services to the less fortunate (more then democrats).
Democrats do not need to be moochers, they often work hard doing what they need to live. They are just asking for more support from more people.
Democrats are dumb because they treat business like a plague and make enemies of them, forcing them to be sure not to follow any of their causes.
Republicans are dumb because they treat government services poorly, not realizing that some sectors cannot be done profitably. so we need government to fill the gap.

  13. Re:Preparation, not incentives on Why Do So Many College Science Majors Drop Out? · · Score: 1

Americans are stuck on the ideas of grades. Part of the problem an A student in High School can be a B Student in College. That B grade usually puts them in shock and fears the prospect in that area. So they will switch to an other Major where they can get easier A, as they feel if they are getting a better grade it must be their calling.

In college I found the classes I got C+ and B- in are the classes that I felt I learned the most in. The A- and A classes were too easy and I didn't get much out of them. I brought this fact up when I was interviewing for my masters (My GPA was high enough but I had a high deviation on grades) and the dean was really confused by this answer that if you got a lower grade you could have learned more from the class. Those C+ and B- Classes I often had to work my but off and learning new concepts I never really knew before, so I learned a lot from them. Those A- and A classes I knew the stuff and the material I learned is what I expected to be lectured to me, getting a few new tips and tricks but note learning much.

This second half will try to make this hybrid and end up making something that will split the group again as still people will not like the trade offs chosen again.

Sometimes you just need to force the new version down the mouth. The old farts will always be there but they will end up liking it when GNOME 4 comes out. And the others will at some point find the tradeoffs wasn't so bad. The bloat after a PC upgrade isn't that big of a deal.

Yes it does come with trade offs. But a lot of these trade offs are not technical it just requires the end user to be a little smart.
    1. Get a good contract. Just don't use the canned one that they use for everyone. If you need it and it is critical to your application you better make sure the contract that you sigh for the service is in your favor.

    2. Have a backup plan... Just like you need with your own in house stuff you should have a backup plan. Down load your data or transfer it to an other SaaS. You can always be sure you can get your data due to #1, make sure that you have a contract entitle you to your own data, in a format that is exportable.

    3. Keep an eye on your SaaS company health. Just like you need to do with your normal software. How many people are still using Word Perfect for Dos just because they can... The same with your SaaS company, If the service is getting out of date you should plan a switch to a new one.

SaaS is a good model, it frees the user from having to choose a particular OS and gives them global access to their data.
