See I can swap it around on you. (I tried to leave out being Gay just because the Mac already has that reputation, and homosexuality really isn't an aspect to liberalism, nor should it be perceived as a negative trait.)
Any Extreme Side can be just as stupid, greedy, lazy and misinformed as the other.
Wrong. Being a balanced individual, who can think for themselves is a good thing. If you are going to be brain dead enough to say I am Liberal or I am Conservative really means that you really didn't spend any time on thinking about the issues and if they fit into your personal philosophy or not. They are things in life that needs to be changed that needs a liberal view to help bring to into play. There are other things in life which are not perfect but are at an optimal or near optimal state and any changes will negatively effect it. You should based your opinion on every issue that comes up and prioritize them in order of importance so when you go to elect an individual you choose the one who stands for most of your highest priority items.
Conservative (not to be confused with republicans, religious folk, or the other things that they statically are) are people who prefer that status quo. PC are the status quo for a computer purchase. If you are going to switch to a Mac, then you realize that you want to change.
Is 1984 really happening today? Or we just used 1984 and point out some aspects that the book pointed out and say "See it happening!!!!" We freak out every time a senator comes up with a crazy idea, in a brainstorming session. Orwell looked at the trends of technology and applied what he thought would be the worst case use for them to make his book. If he did the same thing and painted a picture where they used the technology for good uses his book wouldn't sell as it would be quite boring and too sweet. Real Life has us sometimes using technology badly and other using it well. Sure Orwell looked at the trends of technology and sometimes we hit a correlation with his book. But other times he just misses all together. As things like data encryption keeps other people out of our personal lives. And even if once in a while someone will be on record saying it is bad, nothing has happened because real life keeps things in balance.
Is 1984 a warning. Well kinda but not really it is giving you the worst case. Without 1984 I doubt too much would have changed. Perhaps things would be better because there will be more people actually interested in technology and learning about it. Vs. seeing it as an evil boogie man.
Successful activist groups work a lot like corporations. They either need to grow or die. Because if they just try to solve one problem in the world they will more likely succeed then they will out of business and then will need to refile as an other NPO for the next thing. So Greenpeace like PETA, and MAAD, Pro-Life and Pro-Choice groups they expand their scope of problems so they will stay in business longer (Espectially if their goal is popular enough they quickly get big enough where they have paid staff and a CEO who making 6 - 7 figures a year) but by expanding their scope they actually hinder on getting anything meaningful done. If you want to save the Wales Greenpeace could probably do it. But they are too bogged down with their other issues to put effort into solving any one problem.
Prophecy my be Fiction but Fiction is not Prophecy. Science Fiction is Fiction not a Prophecy. The scariest part is there are a lot of people who are actually expecting this type of stuff to happen, because some people who wanted to make a ton of money off of an action flick made up of some simple story to put more resources in action special effects.
For me the fun of Star Craft was with the Protost. Build up enough to make cannons and a few of those mind controlling guys. Sneak into the enemy base Mind control some of their builders. Take them away and build up an army of all the races to go against your opponents. While you put a border of at least 3 layers of cannons around their base. I have won games against people with good stats with just focusing only on making cannons. But that is with star craft 1. They probably reworked the game so we couldn't be creative any more and you will have to fight with traditional war fair.
Just because Self regulation of a complex industry such as oil, where failure is disastrous shouldn't be self regulated it doesn't mean self-regulation doesn't work. What is the real cost of failure if part of the self regulation of video games fail. Not much, Mommy sees the game and forbids the kid from playing the game, perhaps nightmares for a day or two. Returns the game and complains to the store owner. And they yell at the clerk who sold him the copy. The game industry doesn't want angry parents all the time so they will try to be fair in their ratings.
Kids getting material at an age younger then they should has been happening for ever.
The cloud isn't immune to problems. But it is normally more tolerant to problems then your/your businesses internal systems. Unless you spend a great deal for a full infrastructure then you probably get just as good. A major outage on most professional cloud setups means it is down for a few hours. A major outage at work means the full day. It is like saying driving my car is so much safer then flying because I never got into an accident.
How Many people are still supporting Slackware 1.0? There is a bug in my old 15 year old app and I do not want to upgrade to the new version. are you really going to find a huge community willing to jump in and help you out. Probably not, you will either need to fix it yourself or hire someone to do it. The cost is normally more then upgrading to a new version. OK. XP is at EOL so what you have Windows 7 as a modern alternative, where you probably will loose little in the upgrade. It will probably be less painful then when Windows 98 hit EOL
I think it is more because it is a low priority but a high political visibility action.
As States are strapping for cash do you think it is a good idea to change all the street signs in the state. Could that money go to something more useful like fixing bridges and clean up the potholes?

Do you remember all the complaints when Pluto has been declassified as a planet, now you add a larger group of angry people who just want to be angry about stuff.

No, I am a trained and experienced professional, who expects only to be given due consideration in applying for jobs in his customary field of expertise.
Now what? How does that preclude you from being an elitist? My argument has NOTHING to do about applying for jobs. Just what you should PART of the time if you have no job and you are getting government pay? Also I am not a Republican, or a Tea Partier. I am a trained and experienced and educated professional as well. I may be getting paid less then you... Perhaps more I am by no means Rich. I am a political moderate. I have been out of work before and I know how it feels, that is why I proposed that idea.
However, my "ability" lies in embedded development.
Now what?
Well if there are jobs for embedded development that could use you skills... Otherwise you just GASP have to do something else, Perhaps Data Entry. And that is until you could find yourself a full time job in the area that you specialize in. Note this is only Part Time work so you have half of your day to find a full time job. If there isn't demand for an embedded developer then you will need a new trade. Life sucks, but sorry. But really today you will need to find a new job to do what you need. And hence why I said this should be PART TIME WORK. So you have time free to look for a job that better suits your need. But if you are unemployed at the time and taking government money you should be contributing to the general community.
You act as if the people who drew Unemployment didn't have to WORK FIRST to be eligible for those benefits.
I worked for nearly 20 years between the last time I drew Unemployment, and my most recent time doing so.
Now what?
What about it? Unemployment isn't Social Security. It isn't that you build up credit so you can retire. Or give you a stop working for so long free card. It is designed paid by taxes from the community. Who in general doesn't want you to mess up the economy by starving, getting evicted or going bankrupt. The fact that my method has a string attached were you help with Government Infrastructure Projects while you are working on finding a new job.
The approval process for SSDI ("disability") takes an average of THREE YEARS, and nearly HALF are denied anyway. Unemployment lasts around TWO years.
Now what?
You mean the second part of my sentence. "or be given an other job"?
This isn't punishment for being out of work. It is supposed to be keeping people productive active and helping build a better future. The problem we have with unemployment is that in a long period of a recession there is a period where people begin to get use to not working. Right now if someone chooses to be underemployed they will loose their benefits and work full time where they will not find a job back at their level. Sure they will doing underemployed work, But PART TIME and keeping their benefits up so they can get full employment again.
If they are unemployed and getting unemployment how is that helping them pay off their loan. They are still unemployed and you can make sure their status stays that way so they can if they feel like waist the rest of their savings to try to go bankrupt against the school who has quite strict rules for repayment. Were death doesn't absolve you of your debt.
Yes, I get it, you are an Elitist, who thinks the messy jobs in life are just for the people who made fun of you in middle school. You think you should be given a golden spoon even if you are complete wast of carbon. Also you need to work on your Abstract reasoning ability, it is quite low. Not everyone will be digging but they will be doing jobs that are available the closely matches what they are best for, it is called good Human Resource Management. But there will be people who do not have an ideal match and could be doing a job that is well underneath them.
This is real life, a world where you do what you got to do to survive. A true republican would much rather have these people starve to death or find any job to survive. I am just stating that the benedictory of government pay should do work for improving the community. As these improvements are key for a stronger economy in the future. Giving them Part Time... Not Full time but Part Time work doesn't seem like an unreasonable request if you are getting say 2/3 of your original salary.
To answer the questions...
Yes I would be willing to take the shovel myself, and I have done so in the past. For those who are not strong enough to hold shovels would probably either already be on disability or be giving an other job. There is a lot of room for infrastructure that we need. The reason why is isn't being touched because it is difficult to get funding for. So we use the funding allocated to unemployment and we use it to offset the cost of these infrastructures.
If the PhD is out of work. And they are not being productive then they should have something to do. I am not saying that the PhD should be shovling but they should be doing a job even if is "Below Them" Most likely a PhD will not be digging ditches. However they may be handling accounting or managing or just being a computer operator. The point is if you are out of work you should be willing to do whatever job that you can do.
That is why I only propose Part Time work. Not full time. Full time will prevent you from looking for your normal level job. How many people truly work full time looking for a job? Not many. They will do 2/3 hours of searching a day. As it doesn't take that long to go threw and apply for all your options.

Colleges and Universities are the biggest hoarders here. I went to a small college around 6,500 students. They owned 1 Class B and 2 Class C Networks. That is 10 IP Address per student. Are the capes made in Florida? Either way I much rather see government funds going to infrastructure upgrades and fixes. If you need to take unemployment and you are able to work should be working at least part time. You out of work with a PHD. You are strong enough to hold a shovel. 4 hours out of the 5 day week you should be digging ditches to drop fiber cable, super conductive power-grid etc... The rest of the time you should be free to look for new jobs and take interviews, and other stuff. We can cut our budget while expanding our infrastructure, keeping the unemployed out of a complete shame spiral and make sure they are out and productive members of society. When they do get a job again they will be used to working so it isn't a shock again to be back at work. Unemployment and welfare are a good thing but if you keep the people busy and active it is all the better and if they can work to improve society why not?
I am to lazy to find the link. But Apple does that and shares the data with AT&T to help them improve their coverage service. Apparently the data is about the phone not the owner. I guess with some heavy data warehousing you can get a match but for the most part they care about in a particular area there are x number of devices that would like to have coverage.
This stuff is due to the fact companies fail to take HR as a serious part of the business, they limit their jobs to just handling vacation and making random policies. Employee turnover cost roughly 150% to replace an employee, but will do little in terms of inside promotions and raises often account more of a cost of living adjustment (FYI Inflation averages 3% Raises are usually over 10% a year) then a real raise. HR is limited in actually evaluating each employees skills and making a choice if they should get promoted or not. It is usually left to the local manager who really doesn't want to loose a top performer from their department, and sees your professional growth on a day to day bases and not as overall so they forget that your starting salary that you are getting paid at was for work that you could do then and not what you do now. Because they are not getting paid what they are worth an employee will look for additional work which will give them. 1. An honest assessment of their value. 2. A job that will pay their current value.
Back in the old days when people worked for the same company for their professional life. It was mostly due to the fact that there wasn't much competition for jobs in the area, and most people wouldn't or couldn't travel to the next town and city to see if there is something better. Today it is much different companies need to realize that and invest into HR. It is better to keep the employees then loose them, but they need to keep in mind that they are in competition with more then just there competitors but with the rest of the community for human work resources. During recessions there is less competition so the businesses and get good talent for less but once the economy picks up the tides turn to the employees who have more choices.
Well Apple is the market leader so they are trying to keep its position from competitors. (they are trying not to do the same mistake they did with the Mac a generation ago)

Why do you say this like it is a new thing. Motion Picture is full of this type of stuff. 5 more years we will need another Robin Hood Movie, Perhaps King Author? Perhaps it will be time to redo parts of the Bible? We look at the old movies with fondness for many reasons. 1. We forget about the tons of Crap we forgot about or never went too. 2. As a kid this this was new to us. and probably didn't read the book first. 3. As kids we used our imaginations and made the hero's even more great in our minds 4. Your parents paid for it so you didn't feel ripped off 5. You could just sit back an enjoy the movie without feeling like to need to be a critic of it.
I would imagine Mac users are also...
More likely to be stoned on Medical Marijuana because it helps their "Headaches"
More likely to collect welfare and have more babies just to collect more
More likely to ignore debt and keep spending more.

Money: more responsibility the more you get paid. Money doesn't buy you happiness but it prevents many areas that can make you miserable.
Power: you can get things done your way and the higher up you are the more of your way you can have done.
Security: you could be high enough to not be targeted in the first round of layoffs.
Respect: fancier title allows people to respect you more.
Sure they arnt noble reasons but they are real ones

1. We forget about the tons of Crap we forgot about or never went too.
2. As a kid this this was new to us. and probably didn't read the book first.
3. As kids we used our imaginations and made the hero's even more great in our minds
4. Your parents paid for it so you didn't feel ripped off
5. You could just sit back an enjoy the movie without feeling like to need to be a critic of it.
