For a new start up company if you are getting paid little and so is the owner with all the money going to the business. You would feel like you are the Next Wozniak or Paul Allen. Where once the product kicks off you will believe that the boss will properly compensate you for your sacrifice as well.
Where what will happen when the product kicks off, you keep your job, and they hire more qualified people at the higher pay to continue on.

It isn't that hard, if you design the product to be rather platform independent. I make my career fixing and maintaining others code. If they were thinking in terms of keeping it platform independent, then it is often just a recompile away (or it just already works) on newer systems, as well with older systems. However if the maker is thinking Windows 98 and IE is the way things are and will always be like this, then it is much harder to maintain, and would require a lot of rebuilding that would break compatibility.
If such app say used standard HTML4/CSS with Ajax back in IE6 days vs Active X, Silverlight or even Flash. Chances are this application wouldn't need to be revamped. But if it was platform particular, then it would require a rewrite. And that rewrite will not take in consideration of the old platform any more. So it would be HTML5/CSS3 with Restful web services, because if you are going to reprogram it, you might as well have it modern.

I got Photoshop 7 at the turn of the century for a few hundred bucks from some sale the retailer was having. I used it for about 4 or 5 years, and paid a few hundred bucks for the upgrade to CS2 or 3 I don't remember which.
I liked using the product, but I can't justify the CC costs for someone who will use the product for a few hours every other month

The reason for the executive branch of government with the checks and balances is to insure the laws that do get passed are enforced appropriately. You can go all out and punish people you don't like to the Max, overrun the courts only for them to push back and state your methods are unconstitutional. However in the mean time how many people are getting hurt.

Don't follow the Conservative or Fox New line, that Democrats are the ones making all these crazy laws, or the Republicans are all for small government. For every 2 laws they remove they replace with 1 law that is 3 times as complex.

Apple wanted the screen to go as close to the edge. But it had a head speaker, a Camera, and a dot-projector in the way. Apple could try making these components right to the edge, or left a chin/forehead or they could use the extra unused space for some extra display.
The Notch is a design tradeoff problem, not a cool feature.

If other companies are just putting a notch they are doing it just to copy Apple. Not for a good reason.
