    its not really the "open sources world" that fucks up Android. The fact that maunfacturers do fuck it up is because of its open nature but I think all you can say is that phone manufacturers suck at UX. I don't think Android is an indication that open source as a whole sucks at it.

    I might agree with that statement but Android is not evidence of it... its not a community making those shitty UIs its Samsun or HJC or formerly Motorola.

    Yeah, from the article its not even clear if this group is actually related to the gentrification protesters at all. Could it be that these are just anti-tech protesters and they really are afraid of some kind of "roadnet" becoming sentient and plunging us into a dark and dismal future?

    There is a SHIT LOAD in this particular protest that has nothing at all to do with the gentrification issue that you describe. Even if it were about gentrification how does it help to protest one particular engineer and then call him out for his work on self driving cars like those are somehow related to the problem ever mind all the crap about pit mines in the congo and blaming this guy for them rather than any of the protesters (many of whom certainly own devices containing materials mined in the same exact way.

    and that is this guys fault personally and somehow not the fault of the protesters who likely have their own phones and computers and used the same resources to print the very fliers that they used to protest this one guy who is just designing things and is really, in no way, more responsible for the economic state of the world than any of the people standing outside his house.

    If you have a problem with this kind of economic inequality then you have a long journey ahead of you. Bitching about one engineer and the fact that he can cary a baby and check his cell phone at the same time (but what about the LIFE he carries in his HAND!) is sure as shit not going to change any of that.

    Generally the receipts for these charges show up a day or 2 after the purchase. I assume apple is batching together the charges or something and processing them in bulk somehow. Or maybe it just takes 2 days for the email alert to go out? I don't know.

    In America, HIPPA would apply to an application like this so they would be required by law to follow best practices for securing patient data. Sadly that is not as secure as you might like it to be, but there are liability rules in place for things like this.

    ummm.... what?

    perhaps you mean transgendered individuals but a gay man is still a man and a lesbian is still a woman. It would be interesting to look at transgendered individuals but I suspect that if the difference is caused by nurture and not nature that you would still see these effects in transgendered people because most of them do grow up in their birth gender and only transition later in life.

    hydraulic steering in a motorcycle?

    Not that it would be that hard to deal with one of these on a bike, I have had my bike stall under me several times (running close to reserve) and I can usually just flip the switch, hit the starter and ride on... if this were a single pulse I would think you could do the same thing to avoid being caught... I would guess that it stays on till the vehicle is secured.

    most anyone I know who has ever said porsh was using it as an abbreviated form like saying lambo instead of lamborghini. It has nothing to do with any misunderstanding in how the word is pronounced.

    I have never had this experience with a home inspector. I pay them myself and select them myself and I have never hand anyone behave in less than a professional way. They certainly did not give me a rosy picture of the house I bought. 10 years after I feel like what they told me was quite accurate. I have had to fix the things they pointed out and very little else really.

    Easily and unintentionally is the key. Also important is the difficulty in reverting the damage. If it is easy to reverse it is not as big of a deal.
