you still wouldn't be able to boot the computer but the hard drive could be wiped. That said, getting the hard drive out of a mac laptop is not trivial. I suspect most laptop thieves who run into counter measure that stop the computer from operating end up just ditching the computer unless they can fence them to someone who knows what they are doing.
For a tracker to work you want the computer to appear to operate normally.
ya know, im pretty sure I read a story years ago about someone who did something like this. They had a script for some other purpose (upload to a web site or something) that allowed them to find the IP address that their stolen laptop was connected to and, with the help of the police, they were able to get their laptop back.
Admitedly this was a long time back and it might have been easier to track that sort of thing down, but it was the first time I had ever seen this idea laid out.
uploading GPS data would be great, maybe you could attach it to a picture from the camera while your at it:-)
Given that Kerry repeatedly stated that he would answer the students question and given that this is HIS event and really nobody else's event. I think you might be a little out of line here. Kerry found his questions worthy of comment. Once he said that the student should have been released so that he could have heard the answer to the question he asked. If he was still causing a disturbance after that, sure get him out of there, but don't try to frame this as taking over someone else's event when the guy who actually matters here was willing to answer the questions.
If he did hit a cop then pretty much all bets are off. I didn't see that in the video but I only watched one of them (with the sound off since I'm at work) hence my question about them placing him under arrest. Clearly they did, but its not clear when they did.
my understanding is that he was there legitimately and was called upon to ask a question, now he may have asked a question that is highly charged and he may have gone over his alloted time, but that is not the same as barging in and shouting down the speaker at length.
Man, this kicks ass! I cant wait till MS actually implements this in windows. This is the kind of idea that could really spark a revolution.
Admittedly it would be better described as a revolt... by windows users, but whatever... if MS wants to shoot themselves in the foot they should go for it. And by patenting it the ensure that no other OS will follow suit.
Thats one of the things I like about googles advertising. Although I generally hate ads as much as anyone on here, I only hate them because they are not only distracting and annoying but also totally useless. I find useful stuff in googles ads all the time. This buys a lot of good will as far as I'm concerned. Advertise something I want and I sure wont complain about the ads.
I click on them all the time. I use a laptop most of the time and I have no difficulty telling that they are sponsored links. I click on them because they are often more relevant to my searches than the first link in the actual results. Particularly when I am looking for a product or service.
Neither do I, but if it turns out this clown actually changed his phone from a default setting to one that would download emails while roaming, and then bitched about the cost... well, there is a special place in hell for people like that.
If there is a mistake made by apple here, its is not the difference between sleep and off.
Apple made one big mistake here. My phone knows when it is on network and when it is off network. The default behavior should be to not auto retrieve mail when you are roaming. On, off, asleep, whatever. This is the way it should work.
That said, this is a strange use case and not the sort of thing someone would have thought of before hand.
Ive certainly never heard of it before and Ive been active in the Mac community for a very long time.
But what I want to know is, what is this web site exactly. I mean, maybe it was different before the soap opera but right now I see a big letter and 3 buttons at the top of the page. two of them roll over to broken images and the forums button just tells me I don't have permissions. There doesn't seem to be anything else. Was there ever? Is this web site so "underground" that its just not usable?
Meh, whatever, I wasted enough time just reading half of that drama.
Well websites often figure out what town I am in based on my IP address. If you knew that and you knew it was, say, a 7-11 based on the promo materials visible, you could just call around to all the 7-11s in that town (one, maybe two) until you see the clerk on the camera answer your call. Then your in business.
Even if you didn't know it was a 7-11 a Google search of continence stores would provide a fairly short list.
the entire HPV spectrum would probably be closer to 100%. Anyone who ever had a wart has HPV. Many children get warts, have them removed and they never return, but you still have a strain of HPV your immune system just suppresses it. Never mind the fact that many people have HPV (std or not) and never show symptoms because their immune system is suppressing it.
Some of those women would not even show an abnormal pap smear. A genetic test for HPV will reveal infections that your body has suppressed while a pap only shows ones that are starting to take hold. Of course a suppressed infection can become active at any time.
note, not all sexually transmitted HPV cases are of strains that cause cervical cancer (nice catch there, I missed the ovarian bit) many simply cause warts which are unplesant but not life threatening. Wart causing HPV does not cause cancer.
Im not living in a dream world buddy, I probably know more about this than you do.
The spread of HPV is not prevented by condom use. Its also kind of misleading to call it an STD when it is transmitted by many differnt means. There are hundreds of strains of HPV and for the most part, they cause warts.
This is a pretty big issue but nothing is going to keep you safe from HPV entirely. Nuns who have led a life of celebacy have gotten HPV from unusual exposure and ended up with cervical cancer. The best way to deal with HPV is for women to get regular pelvic exams and for early detection and treatment before cancer even arises.
Try out Beyond Seven condoms. They have a very good reputation even among people who have breaking issues with Trojans. They are also quite thin and about the least intrusive condom I have ever used
no... at best that study shows that you will have a condom fail 2% of the time (Ive never had one fail and I have gone through several hundred in the past year and a half). Even if a condom fails this does not automatically mean pregnancy nor does it even mean you get an STD (even if we assume your partner already has one... or hell, all of them)
sure, with a split condom you go back to the regular chances of pregnancy and STDs that you have if you are having unprotected sex but its not 100%
GOD DAMN!
Thats sweet!

At what point exactly did they tell him he was under arrest?

why would anyone play "guitar hero" when they could just get a guitar?

I seem to recall old stereo receivers having both a volume and a "loudness" knob.
no, but you might be able to get his non-union Mexican equivalent, Señor Spielbergo.

The Devil's Hands are Idle Playthings was a fantastic finishing episode.
The Robot Devil: You cant just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!
and its right there with a simpler to understand joke that I have always loved:
Man: "And you, Sir? How can I horse you?"
Hermes: "I'll have a horse Coke."
Man: "Horse Pepsi okay?"
Hermes: "Nay."
Henry Kissinger: Mr. Ambassador, our people tell the same story.
