Yes, i Know it's great that they'll be heard in April. But that's the sad part. A major rights issue which is high priority, yet it takes 4 months to hear. Isn't the legal system supposed to work _swiftly_ and justly, not just one of the two...
The ACLU is great at defending internet freedoms against monopolists like M$, the gov, and ICANN. Now if they only processed mail fast enough to get my membership card to me before 2002 =)
As for hotmail, yeah, it's kinda strange how they filter certain words, like "high", "credit", "teen", etc. It's like trying to grab all the spam in the supermarket so quick you end up with a cart full of canned ham. Wrong annoying meat. As for the cuecats, they're pretty fun. Haven't scanned one barcode yet but i rigged up a nice motion sensor for my room!
I still remember using this software. This is how i learned linux 2+ years ago. I still recall it not booting on my athlon box when i f**ked up glibc, and hwo i used to to comment out security configuration at school. a few months ago the homepage link was dead and the latest version contained kernel 2.0.38. Hopefully it'll be a LITTLE more up to date now =). Or at least boot on my athlon box the next time i play with glibc.
Or is there more than one person that wonders if a company that is supposed to serve the whole internet shouldn't have some kind of legislative body running it instead of a CEO or a combination of the two?
The discovery channel had a special on this about 3 years ago in which they used a 767 for this. They used a small targeting laser then a high powered laser that would burn through the sides of the missles. They estimated 1000 USD per shot. I'd be careful if they named it "project Dagobah", you never know what they have planned next.
But this reminds me of the old "do we need this many text editors" debate. While im sure this is one of the things to keep, there are so many programs of this type on freshmeat alone, even more on the net. With literally 100's or 1000's of any given project type out there, is it really worth it to start one from scratch that you know is going to be mediocre when you can just help the community to make a smaller number of really great versions? It's one thing to write a quick one version to learn how the code works, but does the net need a million varieties of production code? Come on, its not a baskin robbins.
Didnt' AT&T do something like that? Where they call you about long distance and "no" seems to sound like "yes" over the amazingly staticy yet advertised by them as crystal clear phone? What's next? Smoking or non-smoking: oh, i'm sure you meant to say smoking, i'll just set you up there anyway.
The court just doesnt want other civil servants looking at pr0n because they can't load it from up on the bench. Get em wireless net palm's and watch their decision =)
I usually have to find something to say to flame microsoft, but now they're partnering with a caffeine distributor! DAMMIT! I guess i have to give some shouts to ol' Bill Gates for actually partnering with a company that produces something that i really need!
That's a good question. It probably will never be known until the next case comes up. What confuses me is, if online spammers should be jailed, what about the people who make and advertise the meat?
My friends intro to law class had the project of finding "exploits" in the GPL. It's hard to prove that there was a violation unless you get one of the developers to sqeal =)
Every MUD player remembers at lesat one old school MUD, but the big question is, does anyone remember where they put the big-ass manual with the instructions on how to play it?
All the best technology is released outside the U.S. The first DVD vcr, the Nokia 8110i phone (from The Matrix), now these. I'm not sure how much fun it is to be American anymore =)
Sure, everyone's seen how the grinch stole x-mas, but who here has seen issue 6 of toy fair, in which they have a mock up called "How Dr Doom Stole X-mas". You really can't beat mocked up toys photod to form a comic strip in which they obviously and intentionally butcher every part. Especially the part at the end where he's about to return the toys and has a snowmobile collision with spiderman, crushes fonzie, and destroys the whole town. If the grinch capturing the flag is wrong, this is plain evil.
The people that care enough to upgrade are the ones that'll get screwed in the end because an even newer technology will come along!

Even Microshaft people are insulted to be associated with politics. They're not _completely_ immoral.
iptables is much better at blocking packets from *.flycast.com then ipchains was =)
/me waits until they include electronic skip protection =)
I'm still waiting for a mobile 10+ cpu cray T90 =) By the time it comes out, i may even be able to afford it.
