  1. Re:Too much hate. on Perl is the Most Hated Programming Language, Developers Say (theregister.co.uk) · · Score: 1

Oh thank goodness! I had found all of this hate distressing and I have many fond memories of Perl and all of the things you can do in so few lines of code. Perl is more than just a way to tell computers what to do - it is an expressive language with dialects and flexibility. And how could people hate Perl more than JavaScript? I'm not sure the conclusion of the article is all that accurate.

  7. Re:Savage is anti-bullying? on Is Santorum's "Google Problem" a Google Problem? · · Score: 1

That brings up a good point. It's public speakers like santorum who indirectly contribute to the bullying of gay kids. When he says things publicly like "man on dog" and that sort of thing, the bully feels like his bullying is legitmized. Nobody seems to make that connection.

Rick Santorum and his ilk should be laughed at and not taken seriously. Dan Savage is helping the rest of us see that.

  13. Free Speech is more sacred than Islam on Network Solutions Suspends Site of Anti-Islam Film · · Score: 2, Insightful

Free speech should not be undermined just because some religious people are overly sensitive to any criticism to their beliefs. All beliefs must be subject to questioning - especially those held close to the heart. Stiffling free speech is the beginning of the downfall of any society. No religion (Islam, Christinality, Judaism) is above criticism and the pursuit of truth. If their religion has merit, then there should be nothing to fear.

  14. And No Trackballs? on Gaming Mice Get Benchmarked · · Score: 2, Interesting

True, Trackballs are not mice. But when you take into the acount the benefits of a trackball (NOT Thumbballs) you see that they are far superior. Trackballs are safer and more accurate. I hate it when I have the mouse in the right position and it moves when I click the button. That problem does not occur with a trackball. Also, you never get to the edge of a mouse pad or out of range of your arm. There's nothing more archaic about the mouse than having to pick up the entire pointing device to replace it somewhere else to move it again. It is faster just to move your hand. I remeber watching some video game tournaments watching everyone constantly picking up thier mice while playing - what a waste of energy an time. I realize that most people don't know about trackballs becasue their computers came with mice, but that is just a sad case. DeFKnoL, Loving my Kensington!
