Yeah, we get shitty rainfall at this time of year though, last January was the worst on record with, uh, 0mm of rain for the month.
As someone else rather pedantically pointed out, thats the surface temp, the temp "in the shade", is usually lower, recorded officially at 45.4C (114F). The reason for my temp measurements being a bit skewed is we have a huge sign on top of a Bendigo Bank branch that has the time and temp on it, it HAS been over 50 a few times, and I said 52 as its the highest I have seen it reach.
Yeah, anywhere that gets a good breeze off a desert will do that, Kerang gets some nasty north-westers that blow in and make it feel about 3x hotter than it should.
As to the parent and their validity claim, my measurements are very scientific, you see I had an old mercury thermometer in the bottle-shop I was working in, when it said it was over 50C, it meant it was fucking hot and that I could have any free chilled drink I could grab (and still be able to serve while drinking).

Yup, I managed to convince my manager that with the rollout of windows 7 to all our new PCs (we sell PCs) that 64bit should be the norm.
So we can now boast "computers with 4GB of ram" and point out to the customer that our machines (and none of our competitors nearby) can use all of it AND the nice big 1GB vid card they just plonked into it:)
Of course there's a few problems, one person just asked me why his program he has been using since windows 3.1 doesn't work...
A uniform isn't always a strict mandated set of clothing provided by the employer though, in a lot of cases its a level of dress, since management feels they need to enforce a uniform restriction on you (the original poster) I am guessing you (or one of your colleagues, or all of you) have not been living up to the the expected dress code for your position. The mandated uniform will of course give you some idea where you (or your co-workers) went wrong.
I used to use freeNAS, but after a while I just wanted more than what it was offering.
I switched it for a windows home server (server 2003 SBE based), mainly for the backup features, and what with the freeNAS machine being the only non-windows machine left in my house it didn't matter that it lacks full compatibility with unix.
But yes, freeNAS is damn good at what it does, have set up some nice diskless server systems with freeNAS running from a USB stick and having all the client machines on the network sharing their drives with iSCSI, freeNAS would collect them all, turn them into a big redundant storage array, and share them back to the network, works well:)
Well, might consider it, I can still work thankfully.
Was told by the specialist that except for the fact it had hit a part of my body with nerve endings, it was actually mild enough that we would be ignoring it.
Will definitely talk to him about this if he still won't consider getting me off the steroid.
Holy shit, I am betting my Aussie drug rebate thingy won't apply to something that pricey:/
Might just bug the specialist about getting off the steroid, maybe try to up the dose of the immune sup, I seem to only be getting the "photo sensitivity" side effect so far from that, and a good pair of sun glasses and long sleeved shirts solves that minor problem (yeah, was on weekly blood tests for 12mths when he first started me on it, so the insides are dealing well with it).
Heres hoping some of the new research into this disease will find something more patient friendly (the work with some types of parasites seems promising).
My doctor currently has me on a different immune suppressor as well as collazide and a small dose (30mg or so a week) of prednisolone for my relatively mild case (thank your deity of choice) of crohns, its dealing with it quite well, however the main side effect of the damn steroid is rapid weight gain, I am struggling constantly to maintain my body weight (without that particular drug I would be dropping about a kilo a fortnight).
Might ask my specialist if he could consider that drug in my case, would be damn good to be able to eat a regular amount of food again.
Not to mention those of us for whom (due to one eye being more dominant) don't get any benefit out of seeing a 3d movie that doesn't use shutter glasses.
I asked my local cinema if there was a 2d screening planned, they told me they weren't getting the 2d analogue print:/
If you have a cd that has been edited so badly that it only uses at best a quater of its sample size, and compare that to a high quallity analog recording, well I know what will sound better.
Agree, they could take it a step further by having a limited set of functions a window tabbed with another could share/use, for instance:
Recently opened document. "Insert into...." effectively a one click copy and past directly to the curser/field on the other app
An interesting thing is the Eve-Online game interface has had this for a long long time, you can dock multiple windows together and then tab between them, even pull them apart again.
That is no where near the same as not being able to bring the game into the country, if they don't stock the game, fine, I will buy it on steam or order it in anyway. When a game is banned, I have to resort to questionably legal methods of getting said game.
Its no more a matter of possible copyright infringement, its a federal offense to operate a recording device in a cinema, that's what they are guilty of.
I am not sure what its like in the states, but here in Australia we have big warning signs at the cinema saying "do not bring in cameras, turn off your mobile phone".
All said and done though, ignorance of a law is no defense against it.

Little north of you here in Bendigo, but have had up to 52C days here before, bit further inland in Kerang and have seen 56C days.
"most places on earth" indeed.
This is ATI, their drivers don't mature they ferment :)
As for the original article, I could have sworn I had adverts turned off on this site...
They didn't say they all had explosives, just "contraband", this particular persons contraband was explosive in nature.
As for those saying "oh it was only 90g", that much with some shaping behind it could make a great big hole in a plane.

No, Gravatar is the son of Gappa, the Triphibian monster.
Holy fuck are they going to be busy, the job market for geeks with experience surfing 4chan is looking up at last :)
All praise the computer!

Nah, grunge, there is no way you can understand it or think about it, its perfect :)
Now this, THIS, is how survivor should be :)
Well, its more like Paranoia with less lasers and more tigers, but hey, I ain't complaining.
Uh, if your that Jake, then you are over 40 years old ;)
Thank you, you left out the minorities...
People with only a left foot
People with only a right foot
People with 2 left feet
People named Jake with three legs
Well, its all in the sample size/dynamic range.
