Have not seen an AV yet that stops this, their attack vector is browser and java 0day exploits usually, and they almost never fail to re-infect within a month unless you grab the user firefox and no-script and educate them in their use:)
I back the clients data up from a linux environment (usb stick 4tw) over the network to my file server, wipe their system, and reinstall with a slipstreamed disk that disables IE, loads firefox and no-script:P
So a disclaimer at the bottom that all characters pictured are based off real adults who are merely very young looking would make it safe?
Ok, so if I draw a picture of a person having sex with a sentient machine (non-human like, lets say a 1m cube with a penis sized hole in one side) and that machine is only 10 years old according to the crappy fan-fic I write about it, does that make it child pornography?
Oh wait, I know how to use up more of the courts time, where were those rule 34 pictures of ALF and the simpsons I had laying around...
There was an "extended download" option (about an extra $5) that you would have unticked to save some extra cash on that purchase.
I got the 2 x-pacs for BF2 in the same way, I have since lost my BF2 disks but I can still download the update packs.
Not defending this opt-in, just stateing that at the time you purchased they were doing that kind of thing, I was "this close" to opting out as well, then I figured, what the hell.
A Via EPIA based raid solution with a gig of ram and freeNAS loaded will generally max out your drives bandwidth, supports full drive encryption, a "slew" of shareing methods including iSCSI (host and target) NFS SMB iTalk FTP torrent.... yeah, you get the idea.
And best of all, on these boards it chews very little power:)
Considering its all going to be running over an IPSEC tunnel it could cause problems unless his off-site routers are well built (dlink 4tl).
A basic box running monowall is pretty good at this kind of routing requirements, mainly because all the IPSEC requires is more memory and processing power, which can be upgraded then:)
Same, we get about 10 a week here (in Australia), its gottent to the point where we tell customers we won't remove it, backup and reinstall their machines, due to the length of time it takes to remove.
As you say, new versions coming out all the time mean the malware removal tools are on the bad side of an arms race, and due to the nature of the attack vector, reinfection after the cleaning is very likely. Firefox + noscript is the best defence btw.
I know parent is fishing for lols, but how long before steam (valve) get their arse into gear and start offering music?
Could easily build into the steam overlay to control a media player, combine each games soundtrack into your playlist, allowing you to listen to whatever while you play:)
And with the original HL now for sale for less than a dollar on steam combined with the fact you will be paying a minimum of $10 to be able to play this (must own a "source" game already), I don't think Valve will mind at all, the fact this has gotten so far along without them nay-saying is likely a good sign.
And if the router is set up right it will simply drop 600kb/s of the UDP traffic.
The only point that will become congested is your outgoing pipe, it will be flooded heavily, but of course your ISP has well configured routing equipment that will handle an over-abundance of UDP as its supposed to and drop it right?
This will ultimately hurt gaming a fair bit, since atm UDP is used rarely enough (volume wise) that it can be prioritised, that's likely what the uTorrent people are counting on.
May i humbly suggest that your time is better spent reading some books, to enlighten you as to why you're in the position you are, and just how the hell you and your countrymen arrived there.
He needs a laptop so he can stay in contact with loved ones and to be able to STUDY, you know, better himself as a human being while doing this horrible thing that the rest of us don't want to do.
For a country that still thinks "primary production" being their main industry is a good thing, I think we would be shooting ourselves economically in the foot.
We are a country whose children are taught that sport is the be-all and end-all of their education, there are a few good universities for the hard sciences, sure, but we have a nationally funded Institute of Sport, a mecca for a generation of kids who spend 3.9 years waiting for the next Olympics to start, so they can see their hero...
Metallica?
Damn you young kids these days. /me cranks motorhead back up while yelling to "git off his lawn!"

Always works, always prevents re-infection.
Nine out of ten Catholic Ministers agree!

Yup, they plan to :)
Anything http or https (via man-in-the-middle attacks) will be filtered.

On the plus side it helps keep me in a job :)

Duh, throw in bestiality charges as well...
This ain't tough, it just makes lawyers happy to be alive.
Mine just expired :(
So if I get a business account I will be unfiltered?
If so I need to call internode about changing my plan :)

Oh that's easy, you don't matter unless your American :)
If you ARE American, then you matter if its a voting year only, and only so much that you vote for "them".
Thanks for playing Democracy: The Home Game.

But then, isn't the whole point of aero (excusing the prettiness) to get load OFF the CPU and onto something else?
Oh, hehe, and thats why you shouldn't post on /. when on strong painkillers :)
SHELLOIL
That was the longest I can remember using.
Not to mention the first page popped up no less than 14 "do you wish to allow this cookie" warnings, each with separate sub-domains.
What the fuck are they doing that needs 14 different cookies?
And is anyone yet to ask what these "word geeks" are doing with their right hand when looking up "long words"?

You should know, from Kubrick films...
"how can you shoot women and children?"
"Easy! Ya just don't lead 'em so much! Ain't war hell? "
