And another key was that in no case did we rate something too low
Well, that's like saying, after you block all your email from getting through, "We rated all the spam accordingly, and let none of them through".
How about, we just guess, a rough fucking guess, that any "remote code execution" or "run with elevated privileges" exploit or hell ANY GOD DAMN FUCKING BUG YOU FIND, needs fixing, right Microsoft?
With home server equipment, data density is the biggest requirement, 640GB drives are useless when you need a 4-5TB array and only have 5 drive bays to do it in.
I have a pair of the seatage 1.5TB drives, neither have caused a problem for me so far, both of course are under windows 2003 Home Server (not on the list of affected OSs), good to see them admitting to a problem though, too many companies these days just wont.
And no, don't bother questioning the storage requirement I listed, backups (incremental backups of about 4 PCs) redundant storage (it keeps copies on at least 2 different drives of everything) account for a large amount of space, but also a whole lot of peace of mind.
Consoles are worse for gaming because the game development company is stuck relying on a specific hardware configuration no matter how how many years old.
First thing, I never said I needed the 8GB for games, I said that I need 8GB of ram in the rig (yes, I use usually 2 virtual machines running at once, I build windows installer scripts for a living), but when all the VMs are done for the day, being able to fire up fallout3 or company of heroes at 1920x1200 means a pair of gtx280s, a third is likely when they become cheaper.
I skip every second vid card release, I have a fair budget to blow on this rig, but a few grand every 6mths is too much:P
And yes, the interface is actually more responsive than it is (objectively of course) under vista than xp, mainly because while the 4CPUs are doing their thing, the vid card works its magic on the interface.
And yes, as another person points out, you can just "get the 32bit libraries" for ubuntu, but thats all work you see, this is turn-key, and did I mention it plays games...
"exterior of the property" usually refers to outside of the property insured, namely the dorm room (yeah, I know, I been through the argument with em too when I was at uni, over pushbikes as well).
I have been fairly happy with my insurer, and still am through them now, am paying practically nothing, have had 2 break ins but due to security measures (dead bolted entries, alarm scaring shit out of them) nothing was taken, they love me:)
The "small" discount almost covers the cost of my security company monitoring:)

An alarm system from a licensed installer will reduce the cost of your insurance premiums (at least it does here), not worth doing it yourself since your insurance savings will eventually pay for it anyway.
So, we are going to spend over 40M taxpayer dollars + whatever our ISPs are going to charge on top, to make private companies do the job of law enforcement and education?
The big "think of the children" argument falls over quite suddenly, when you ask "what fuckwit thought the internet could ever be safe for children to view unsupervised?"
Yeah yeah, rhetorical question, Mr Conroy of course:P
There are times when vista is the better OS though, when gaming is your sole task (high res gaming at that) vista is now the #1, DX10 + tri-sli + 64bit version (that will still run 32bit executables) make it superior to ubuntu and xp.
OMGOMGOMG, yes, there are reasons to use vista, running games on a rig with 8GB or more ram is one of them, under ubuntu you are locked to 64bit binaries and on xp64 you have nearly as bad driver support as ubuntu;)
Home server doesn't use raid, it clusters drives into a storage array, making sure to keep data (you flag it if you want it to do it per share) on at least 2 drives at once.
Its also a great backup system, can act as a streaming server as well as web server.
And it sits in the corner hoovering dust through its filters and I don't have to think about it till it warns me I am running low on space, then I yank out a drive and throw a new one in:)
Ahh, here we go.

More exciting than reading about how badly microsoft can classify security bugs eh? :)
ps. NO FIREFOX, I WILL NOT CAPITALISE THE "M" IN mICROSOFT!
/bow to your knowledge
Afaik that was where it was from, thankyou :)
Actually that was John Cleese, even posting anon you should give credit where its due.
Most of its correct though, even if it is as old as your mom :)

Yeah, spellcheckers can't compensate for Freudian Slips I guess.
Now back to the penis... uh headlines.
But its just being realistic, real is brown.
Hey, back in pitfall you couldn't jump small objects, console gaming has come a long way! /me re-sets the overloaded sarcasm detector
Or new silicone, which is usually the big performance booster (hardware T&L for instance).
Have had this argument many times with many people, some like consoles, some like PCs.
But I am right and they nay-sayers are wrong, you can tell the difference between pepsi and coke... wait, what was the question again?
Or, whatcouldpossiblyglowwrong
Ok, not king, but he can be emperor, since some watery tart threw a scimitar at him.

Yeah, and I will keep paying for the better graphics, because *gasp* I like better graphics.
Now someone please tell valve to release L4D a week early so I can smoosh zombies on more than just 2 maps.

It could be a cheap, redundant, RAID array of drives :P
Oh, I can explain this one (and burn karma)
1. People are idiots
2. Anonymous people are ignorant arseholes
3. See point #1

For $1200AU install and $20/mo, I got a monitored (that is it phones home, and has mobile backup) monitored security setup.
Its not wireless, its very tamper proof, and my insurance company discount almost pays for the monitoring fee for the year.
This is one of those things you don't fuck around with yourself :)

Actually, by Australian law, even if they are hand drawn pictures (yeah, no one hurt by those) it is still illegal.

So I guess browsing 4chan will be hard once this is in.
