It's nice seeing a telco standing up for its users. The individual ISPs are too small to make a big difference, but Verizon is an 800 lb. gorilla in the field.

Moderators are insane. I see no evidence that meta moderation works (as I've suspected all along) and I am consistently disappointed with the results of the system.

Same here. I long ago assumed that Betamax (the consumer stuff) had been killed. I'm really quite surprised to see that it lasted through even the early '90s. How many people actually used it? All the people I knew who had a Beta VCR in the '80s dumped it when it was clear that VHS was going to win.

Has anyone here had any CDPD experience? I recently purchased an AirCard 710 for use with AT&T GSM/GPRS service, and it was awful. The hardware was flaky and coverage was dismal. I'm thinking about going to CDPD with Sprint, but am pretty discouraged after my GPRS experience.

The further in one direction one goes, the more convinced he is that everyone else is on the other side. Look at the breathless claims of a biased media. Remember the impeachment? Remember Marc Rich? Remember Whitewater? Remember what came out of all of that? A tired US public, nothing more, nothing less. The news fanned the flames because the news thirsts for a story. They don't care from what direction it comes, they just care if it sells more ads for Gatorade to the target demographic.

Have you listened to talk radio these days? It's like Bill Clinton's still in office. It's bizarre! They're locked in fatal copulation (picture any number of icky-looking insects that mate and die) with the Clinton administration. They can't move on -- it feels too good and pays too well. And like flies to a porch light, there's little chance they'll get anything out of it other than attracting all of the other flies to their same light.

Hand-waving fanatics become their own parodies after enough time passes, it's simply incumbent on the informed citizenry to ensure that the damage accrued over the course of that time is not fatal.
