Drivers need some work still. TF2 isnt nearly as smooth on Linux as it is on Win on the same hardware.I get 'micro-stuttering' on Linux in TF2. Same map, same server and it sutters on Linux. Its totally playable, but its drawbacks kill it for a pixel junkie like me.. When that goes away, ill consider using Linux for my Valve gaming goodness (L4D2, TF2 etc).
The military would think long and hard before firing on US citizens on US soil. You might get a few skirmishes, but no mechanized battles. I have known alot of people in the military and none of them would have the will to kill US citizens wholesale, ever. Every US soldier's first duty is to the Constitution, not the Commander-in-Chief.
In the information age, there is no difference between publicly available and trivially accessible. THis is a reality we must accept going forward. There is a whole universe of issues we are going to have to deal with now that ALL data is trivially accessible. Stuffing the genie back into the bottle is not a viable choice.
NO, the list should have never been compiled in the first place. Place the blame where it belongs, the government for insisting on it.. You are going to find fierce resistance to any weakening of FOIA.
I knew someone would say this. He changed his MAC for purposes of evading IT, that is the crime. Its like being at the mall and being told to leave so you put on a disguise and go back. If you are unmasked, you are getting arrested and charged with trespass.
Ignoring the overly stiff penalties for a second, he should have ABSOLUTELY been stuck with a felony for putting a laptop in a wiring closet. That is a serious no-no and a felony level crime.
If the old model had been kept, I would have gone my entire life never paying for a song again. AS it is now, if there is a song i want, i fire up itunes on my pocket computer, purchase and download. Its DRM free, I can download it as many times as I want and I can back it up and play it back on any capable device, even non-Apple ones. Until movies cross this bar, i wont be buying them.
We are resting on a pretty solid plateau right now. Solar power(PV) is reaching an apex, we have cheap, powerful and plentiful SoCs for plenty of grunt work. What we lack mostly is the legion of programmers we are going to need to tie all this stuff together.
That is a lovely straw man you have there, please pardon me while i set it ablaze.
#1 The sign is irrelevant and is not a legal barrier i have to cross.
#2 each individual that went there had no idea the others also went. If the same people went back more then once after being informed, THAT is harassment.
#3 Going to someone's house to ask them questions is perfectly legal and not 'law enforcement'. Liberty is all the legal authority i need to do such an act.
#4 The guy has not needed to prove anything since the police believe he is telling the truth and thus are not charging him. He IS innocent, but that is irrelevant to the problem at hand.
Knocking on someone's door, asking them if they have your phone is neither trespassing nor harassment on first contact. You are certainly in your rights to tell me to leave, and to call the police, but no crime has been committed if i obey your command to leave the property. If this were not the case, i would have Jehovah's Witness's arrested every month.
Why do you think it is illegal to knock on someone's door to talk to them? That is NOT vigilantism, thats called BEING A MAN. I dont need the police to talk to another man about an issue, I only need them if we cant resolve it as men. When you grow up, you will understand.
Stuffing a laptop into a wiring closet that isnt yours is a serious CRIME. Even if he didnt take any data, the act of placing the laptop in the closet should be a felony in itself.
Still trying to elevate Swartz to Turing i see. They are not comparable, as Swartz was never convicted or punished. Its fucking SHAMEFUL for you to draw this comparison. Turing towers above Swartz both in righteousness and depth of persecution he endured. Swartz endured nothing but the spectre of possibly being prosecuted.
And we see how he endured the consequences of his actions. Civil Disobedience comes with a price Swartz was unwilling to pay. That is not strength of character
Turing's crime was being human, Swartz's crime was a true choice. Stuffing a laptop into a wiring closet you dont own leaves little room for interpretation. Its a serious crime in and of itself, regardless of the data he actually copied. As I said, comparing the two and the punishments meted out to them, is shameful.
NO, not even close yet. Apple isnt anywhere near the evil MS pulled off. Microsoft held back computing by a decade or more, Apple has yet to pull such a stunt. They do shady shit, and are positioned to possibly be a big abusive monopoly, but they have a LONG way to go to catch up to MS.
Really? You are going to go there? My point was consoles never discount AAA main release titles like Steam does, especially as aggressively relative to its initial release date. You are purposefully being obtuse by comparing AAA titles to the indie/low-budget section, which Steam also has in spades and ALSO HAS MASSIVE DISCOUNTS ON.

As soon as all my old Xbox 1 titles work on Xbox360, ill upgrade.....

Constitutional Democratic REPUBLIC.
Are you saying that is NEVER the correct option?
You are right. Thanks for some perspective.

ABSOLUTE power corrupts, absolutely. That does not mean all levels of power will corrupt. The true measure of a man is what he does with power.

He committed a crime, and knew full well he was doing it. Comparing him to what happened to Turing and why, is shameful on your part.
"They look like us, and they have a plan" Yeah, excellent writing there. Im sorry but when taken as a whole, BSG was utter trash.

Im suggesting its not a legal defense.
