Apple has been able to tap into the emotional area car purchases typically live in. Sony has in the past too, but not now. I still consider my PS3 a Mercedes-class piece of hardware, software is another story.
I say and speak my mind all the time around here. I get troll as well as insightful often. If all you are getting is troll to the point your karma is so low you have to make another account, perhaps you dont know your audience and you would be better served by another community of like-minded individuals. Im not saying 'get out' im saying evaluate your effectiveness to this particular audience.
The problem is, once consumers stop buying them, economics turns against the pros. Also, are you under the impression that tablets/phones wont be able to dock up to a real 'workstation' with a screen that is > 10 inches???
So you are saying to be able to create limited liability, we HAVE to grant personhood? Do see how silly that is? A corporation exists solely at the will of the People. If We The People say that you can have limited liabilty without personhood, it can be done. ANYTHING is better then creating a citizen that cant be jailed.
Laying liability onto a fictional construct does not require granting personhood. Its a compeltely stupid concept that attempts to create a new class of citizen.
What Steve said was about PDAs ~" If we get into the PDA business (again), we have to get into the cell phone business." which anyone with a brain immediately knew that he was working on a PDA/phone.
He thought they were too small, based on Apple's extensive UI testing AT THAT TIME. Things and markets change. Apple may not have wanted to lead the 7" form factor, but i see no justification for calling them hypocritical about entering it now.

If you served me Pepsi and called it Coke, I would spit it back at you. When properly served, they are completely different. Coke is 'spicy', Pepsi is 'sweet'. You assume too much.
We absolutely have the means to do it. We lack the will. Its expensive as hell and the world runs on cost-effciency. A moon base is the first step in the ultimate insurance policy and people dont want to pay up.
After looking through your proposal you need 2 pieces. You need a WORKSTATION to accept the drives as well as cleanse( you are going to verify the data as non-malicious right?) and catalog the data and be able to shut down and boot up on command. Then you need a SERVER that hosts the data to be served. Thinking you are going to serve directly from the hotswaps is a bad idea.
Who put you in charge of judging life? Who are you to say what another sentient being can do with their immature offspring? Perhaps you should think more and speak less.
We have but to extend our hand if we really wanted to put out Assange's light. Hes really not worth the effort. Hes neutered, and will be the rest of his life.
Your right to travel is limited only by your share of Monopoly on Violence, nothing more, nothing less. Most nations' Monopoly on violence decrees that they get final say on who can and cant enter or leave, not the traveler.
God forbid a sovereign nation get to decide who they do and dont let into their nation....... You are a child to be so dismissive of others' right to tell you that you are not welcome.
Sounds like someone who has never set foot inside the U.S. Our civil War settled this issue long ago, there is no getting out of the Union. If anything you will see solidarity and calls for war if our creditors decide to get uppity.
A smart phone is a really a pocket computer. So rephrasing your question to "What can your pocket computer do that my dumb flip phone cant" reveals its absurdity.
ORLY. So a full re-partition wouldnt do it?
Obviously you have never heard of TSR programs or BIOS/UEFI attack vectors. Hardware CAN be infected at the 'metal' level.

A million times this ^. We are at the hardware plateau where user experience is king.

We are a sapcefaring people now, we just rarely leave the ship.
And Columbus sailed some other King's ships and blundered into the Americas.

No, he doesnt. He really hates litigation.

Become what? These are not new tricks, we jsut see more now.

You can choose to encrypt the iphone backups, at least on a mac you can.
Its a problem, they just choose to ignore the human side of the law. The position the British have taken on this is untenable.
