I remember when i was a kid, we would make fun of the Russians/Soviets because they had internal checkpoints, need for papers to travel, etc etc. It was a great source of pride for Americans to know they can travel freely, without the government watching over their shoulder. Im sorry you dont understand that.

Could you provide some links? I figured i would be able to do it on-device like my Palm Pre Plus. Enter the konami code and you were in dev mode. Once i saw it was something external i kind of tuned out, having no framework to know if it was trustworthy or not. Why isnt there a clear, documented instruction from google on how to do this?

Ticking 'unknown sources' doesnt give you root. It just tells the device to allow uncertified programs. You are still not at root user level permissions, merely changing the device from 'run only signed' to run 'signed and unsigned'. There are apps i can get directly from google Play that I cant run on my google Nexus 7 because it requires root, which for some strange reason requires a 3rd party tool to get access to.

Any monstrously successful idea has to be built on the shoulders of giants, with the support of the public. At some point, it becomes prudent for society to tell you 'you have had enough, this is now a cultural artifact, and is public domain." I believe 'Happy Birthday' song is the prime example of something that should be stripped of its monopoly because its cultural ubiquity is so very high. Saying it 'belongs' to someone at this point is absurd in the extreme.

I really like the direction you went. What tools are you using to make a partition clone on windows? I have Acronis TIH 2011, but its awful outside of the boot disks it makes. As it stands now, with the toolkit I have, making clones still requires user interaction, Id like to automate the cloning process to a daily job.
