    Patents are weird. We romanticize them too much. The reality is you are carving out a chunk of mental real estate in the hopes of being able to license to 7 billion+ minds for 20 years. When i looked into getting some patents for my ideas, it became clear the object of the exercise was to essentially build find an unoccupied piece of mental real estate and shoehorn your property lines into it. Like most areas of law, its passionless and cold.

    Not entirely true. The patent office wont entertain perpetual motion devices without a working model that has been operating for a year.

    " The USPTO Manual of Patent Examining Practice states: With the exception of cases involving perpetual motion, a model is not ordinarily required by the Office to demonstrate the operability of a device"

    Exactly my thoughts. Its the 7 series all over again. I ended up just tossing my GTX 770 because of the stupid low amount of ram.

  13. Except, every user should be able to install software from anywhere they want, and it should NOT be Apple's place to decide what software can be distributed and executed. Facebook is shit, but Apple is the true evil here. Let the fucking users decide what they want ot run and get out of the way. We dont need Tim Cook to 'save' us.

    Just NO. Rpi is a great little learning tool, but it has no place in space. Its not worth the rocket fuel to lift it to orbit. Get a real SoC for missions like that.

    Nobody asked you. Not all PCs are actual personal computers. Some of them are essentially cogs in a larger apparatus. If a machine has a small proscribed role , there is no need to apply patches unless you find an actual hole that affects your use-case.

    Oh please. I remember Google buying Keyhole to eventually turn it into Google Maps. They had a good global renderer but very little data. Google filled it all in with real world data, sending teams of scanners across the globe.
