Again here we are. The gulf between media and licenses. He paid for legal license to watch said performance. Why on earth should he be charged full price to watch the same performance in a different format. If we could find a way to separate license and format, the digital age could truly begin. But the media companies dont want to make the license and the media separate. If I buy a HD-DVD, and I want a DVD copy of it, I should be able to get one at the cost of manufacturing the MEDIA , not the media AND the license. I could go on and on, but the point is, beyond value added pieces to new formats, the license should be sufficient to be able to watch that performance anywhere, in any format.
I love when people use the car analogy when pointing out the silliness that is IP law. It easily puts things into perspective. We allow technical companies to get away with things that would we would NEVER stand for in our cars.
I know that this will never happen, but it would be awesome if MS could release a PC addon, say an optical drive that could read and play 360 games on your PC. I think they would stand to gain far more than they lose. But what do I know, Im not a marketroid.
"It is a great example of how journalists in our society are paranoid of saying anything that could be taken as an endorsment of terrorists or any other axis of evil folks these days."
Given the current political climate, do you blame them?
What about PCs that feature quick start functionality for playing CDs, DVDs etc without booting an OS ? They are certainly not useless. Might be a VERY overpriced DVD player, but it does work perfectly.
'WE' are against legislators trying to pump up their careers by introducing censorship laws against video games that other forms of entertainment are not subject to. (i.e. movies, music, etc.) Those industries are , by and large self-regulated. Movie ratings have no force of law, its up to the individual movie theaters to enforce their industry 'policy' 'We' dont see Illinois passing laws regarding R and NC-17 movies.
So are you saying that when 'WE', as a people, legally execute someone, that is justice, but when done on a one-on-one basis, in retaliation, that is vengeance?
Justice and the law are mutually exclusive. Trials are never about finding the truth or administering justice. They are quite simply about interpreting the actions taken as they pertain to the law, STOP. True justice is only meted out by those willing to take action against those that wronged them. If you still feel your attacker has not 'paid his debt', take it up with your congressman, or else take the law into your own hands. The system does not care that you were raped, only that laws were broken.
A breadboard recording device. It would not be hard to wire up a simple stereo recording circuit.

Ever hear of a courtesy flush? Nothing wrong shitting and flushing at the same time.
I think that also, now that they dont have to do the massive PVP rank calculations, it is much less stressful on their system.

If you think financial compensation is an indicator of intelligence, then you really have no clue how the business world works.
