Exactly. When I saw the headline, I assume it was a discussion of how we justify to ourselves spending $300 on a console or $50 on a game rather than using it to help those who desperately need the money, not this nonsense. Actions in games have consequences in games.
I absolutely agree. I loved LOGO as a kid, and I've even played around with it in the last few weeks (KTurtle and FMSLogo). Drawing is really fun, and it's a great showcase for the power of abstraction. I think it'd be hard to make a language more captivating for beginners while still having the flexibility and depth to keep them learning.
You can't even burn an ISO properly in Windows with its default burning interface. (Not that getting the necessary freeware is so hard, but every extra step stops some people.)
I absolutely agree. It's not like I'd stop using my mouse entirely, but, say, "Focus follows gaze" would save me from a lot of stupid mistakes like sending:q to my boss instead of Vi. It'd also be great for HTML forms. Obviously, there are issues to be dealt with, but I would love to, whenever I'm typing, have it automatically go where I'm looking.
Co-op has always been a highlight of Halo games for me, as it is what I felt truly set the game apart from its FPS predecessors.
4-player online co-op that allows you to save films of the gameplay? That right there is worth $60 for me easily.
Heck, it may be worth getting an XBox 360 for me.
Having been both a student and teacher at MIT, my personal explanation for men going into science is the following:
1. young men strive to achieve high status among their peer group
2. men tend to lack perspective and are unable to step back and ask the question "is this peer group worth impressing?"
It is the guys with the poorest social skills who are least likely to talk to adults and find out what the salary and working conditions are like in different occupations. It is mostly guys with rather poor social skills whom one meets in the university science halls...
What a depressing assessment. Couldn't men be more interested in science for science's sake, and moreso than women? It doesn't make women dumber or less important to be more focused on the proximate and practical.
If they were to port FF13 to the 360, the Japanese may simply ditch the series as well as the PS3, and go completely over to the Wii.
It doesn't make sense that anyone would give up on FF because it's available on more systems. I don't think anyone in Japan thinks so lowly of the 360 as to assume any game associated with it is trash. Indeed, I'd argue the opposite--I think it would hurt the Wii to stand out as the only system of its generation that can't support FF.
Interesting thoughts, though.

Click "Parent" and the box always jumps to highlight the parent comment. I think it's an intentional effect that's just being misapplied on page load.
It's not just overly strict--it's nonsensical. Unary follows other bases quite logically.
111 (base 10) = 1*10^1 + 1*10^2 + 1*10^3
111 (base 2) = 1*2^1 + 1*2^2 + 1*2^3
111 (base 1) = 1*1^1 + 1*1^2 + 1*1^3

There's no way Will Smith actually flew through there.
Also, GP, I'll bet you have elevation exaggeration set to 3.

For the lazy: MACHRONE'S LAW: The PC you want to buy will always be $5000. Fun article, though.
Quite right. Not Alexa's fault.
