Thanks for the explanation, I will seriously consider picking your App up once it goes OS X, which I see is planned in the near future. Thanks for the prompt response.
I like the concept of you're program, but I'm curious as to what it's applications are? Very neat concept, but I read the FAQ but it didn't really describe what purpose the program served. I'd love to find out what your clients use it for.
While I understand your larger point, the parent is clearly talking about the elderly, who TV or not would still be in poverty. I have no clue what the isolation of one's twilight is like, but if all of my friends were dead, I was immobile, couldn't use a computer, and was rarely visited by family, I might think my TV really was my best friend. I would certainly be willing to save $10 a month for a while, but when the govmt changes the terms of the deal, that just BS.
They are also the ones who are less likely to have a DTV tuner built into their TV. My grandma still uses a cabinet style TV from the mid 80's. She is on a fixed income and had it not been for us she would think her TV finally died in Feb 2009. The other end of the spectrum is students. I'm glad you pointed out that not all "low-income" people are just middle aged, urbanites, with 10 kids who work at McDonald. Many of us are you, or old, or stuck with massive student loans.
Very good advice, but I would like to add to it. The key is consistency, if for instance you own some sort on low end smartphone and usually use 10mb a month and suddenly you start using 2gb that is a huge red flag. On the other hand if you are a power user (Most iPhone, many BB, and other high end models) then you are probably already using a few hundred megs at least and the bounce in usage will be far less noticeable. The last thing to remember is no matter what NEVER exceed 5gb of data in a month, this is the maximum for ANY data plan (non-biz) and if you go past that, I can guarantee your bill will be looked at carefully and you may even receive a call.
I use At&T also to tether (iPhone) and I'm a but confused about the PPP, isn't that used for dial-up? I thought on EDGE/3G there was no need to dial? I certainly have never noticed needing to.
If you don't count bundled sales, however, the game's sales numbers are pathetic.
Wow definitely the least informed comment I have seen all day. Wii Sports is only available bundled, except in Japan where it has an amazing attach rate. So yes since you cannot buy it unbundled in 90% of the market it is selling terribly.
I don't know about NZ but here in the US many telecoms require you to sign a contract for a reduced rate. These generally range from a year to 2 years. If you get shut off doesn't that mean you are no longer bound by the contract. Seems kinda like a good way to get out contract. I wonder if I could get At&t to drop me if i tether my iPhone enough- cheap way to avoid the $179 termination fee.
To be fair most of these political solicitation calls in my experience, are simply talking about a candidate or asking if the voter has any questions about official. I have made these calls and it is amazing how valuable they can be to get people engaged and counter media FUD, or other elements of spin. Often people agree with you and didn't even know it. If CAN-SPAM covered these calls we would become even more apathetic and politically misinformed than we already are, and that should never happen. Also remember that charities are exempted as well, I would argue for similar reasons. On the subject of fundraising, the big money people don't have to make calls, they have big industry already backing them. Its the little guy who survives by making personal fundraising calls
The apps, nobody has as good a selection of useful apps as the iPhone. WinMo has been out for years, and has a selection that simply pales in comparison to Apple's 6 months on the scene.
I really wanted to like Safari Windows, but it s simply too budgy. Flash is wonky, and it is usually identified as a Mac browser by sites. If it didn't crash and missrender pages it would be nice. I have no clue why the OS X version would be soooo much better off the same codebase.
This is one place where Webkit is well placed, mobile. Gecko is pretty big and has high requirements, IE (Trident ect) are really tied to windows APIs. But Webkit is lean, certainly there is more tweaking to be done, but not the major reworking the other 2 will have to do. Opera also seems to get it, though I know less about them.
These Job's health things have been rebutted many, many times. I know they have recently resurfaced but they are still BS. Apple has wanted out of Macworld for years, at least since the Boston rebellion.
I just picked up the 3rd Prince of Persia game a few days ago, I beat it on PC a couple years ago, but it was cheap. Anyways I am a little more than halfway and I've been stopped dead by 2 bosses, and just to get to them every time I must beat a tedious race, which takes about 8 intense minutes. it is very frustrating to have to get through this just to see if I can ever beat these bosses.
Thats true, but this sounds far more complex and useful that what has been released in the past, perhaps they are getting more serious. I would love to see good ATI drivers on OSolaris/ BSD and Linux. There is no reason we- the OSS community, can't have the best drivers, like we have the best web browsers.
NCSoft has been in a lot of trouble lately, with the recent loss of their founder, and closing T-Rasa. The company seems to be in some sort of free fall. These vultures are simply targeting the weakest in the pack, hoping to gain a few quick bucks before going after the big guys.
I would hardly call Aero's poor OS X knockoff a "nice looking thing". While you are correct about the GPU offloading on most rigs Aero is still slower than classic. Of course that is changing as hardware improves, but it is still not impressive.
I honestly don't get it. Could you explain. I think you are referring to them all being from Delaware, which I have heard is where a lot of credit card and debt collectors are located. Is this the home of scummy corps?

I always wanted a blade server with actual blades

True, but those marketing people would label all that shit as new features.

Netscape tried this... see where they landed.

Who said Opera? I was refering to Gecko and KHTML/ Webkit.
The Zilla's and KHTML/WebKit browsers, are OSS, and yes they run on Windows, but they are still open source.

When I go I look like an 600 pound man with all the goodies I have stuffed in my jacket. 7 bucks for a soda, no thanks!
That totally makes sense. I guess I was just surprised to see they were all from Delaware. But agreed, they are 500lb gorillas.
